The catapult is shaped like a dragon. Push on the head, and the tail flings a brick. This catapult is much easier to operate than those included in the previous Kingdoms set (outpost attack), the brick flies about 3-4 feet without much effort.

Sort the incoming LEGO elements for the project in a way you like to build. Sure, you could just shove the pieces all in one big bag as they arrive from different sellers, however if you take the time to sort the elements in a way that you enjoy building, then when it comes time to put the set together, things are a lot easier. A couple of sorting methods are either by color or by piece category. I’ll often make broader categories like all blues or all bricks – whether they are modified or not. The added advantage of this method is that if you have to double check if you got a part already it is easier to find the answer. For large projects with thousands of pieces this can be very helpful.
For example I read that LEGO City set are number one in Europe, while in the US the top sellers are Star Wars and Ninjago. LEGO does have to take these things into consideration, otherwise they could end up with huge stocks of sets just sitting in one region, when they could easily sell them somewhere else. And when they do end up with extras in an area, it makes sense to just sell that stock locally at a discounted price, rather than shipping it half way around the word. So there is a lot of logistics involved. It is not about not treating customers equally, even if sometimes it feels that way. 🙂
Great article !! I am currently awaiting for a lot of Bricklink orders to to be delivered, covering the building-from-spare-parts of… 2.5 modulars ^^” Those are Cafe Corner, right-half of Market Street and Fire Brigade (I already had a lot of Dark Red bricks and tiles so it was a no-brainer !). Thus, having spent a lot of time and money in the process, I can confirm absolutely everything I just read in this article 😉 From Wanted Lists tips to problems with parts, I went through all of it, so it’s very pleasing and reassuring to know that other people have experienced that.

Imagine if LEGO gave every set a 1-10 rating indicating its potential as for resale investment and then sent you and email letting you know when a set is being retired and always did a 50% discount for retiring sets. that would be amazing and super easy right?! But then again if they did that everyone and their mother would be investing in LEGO. One of the reasons why LEGO still has investment potential is because its actually pretty difficult so 99.9% of America doesnt stand a chance and making a profit, unless they did a ton of research and even then you still need a “feel” for the LEGO market, and thats not something someone can be taught, its just acquired with years of experience.
But while they are great for specific parts, you should only use this service for a few rare parts you can’t find anywhere else. In my experience BrickLink prices are usually 30-50% below the offical Lego prices, or even more for very common pieces.
I disappeared into the Harry Potter Lego Internet rabbit hole and here are a few of the places I’ve found to buy discontinued Harry Potter Lego sets, or even used Lego pieces — all without breaking the bank.
This is a really R E M A R K A B L E Lego creation! You can’t miss this bus to Billund! 😀 Epic door opening mechanism and many other interesting features are visible in this Lego Technic motorized model. “Hallbricks” spent almost one year building it… If you wish you can support this project on Lego Ideas. Enjoy!!! 😀
I got this Lego Creator Treehouse set for my six year old and she really love it. I did help her along the way as the there are many tiny pieces which some little ones may not be able to hold tight and snap into the right places. This set is great for a weekend to spend time together building it. The instructions are very clear and laid out step by step.I would say at a mellow relaxed pace this set takes a good hour from start to finish with you helping your little one. I can also imagine this toy being fun even for much older kids if they are fans of Lego sets.
Then there’s the method where you build the set from your own spare LEGO elements that you may or may not need to substitute with buying individual parts, based on the size of your current collection. This last method of piecing together retired LEGO sets instead of buying them as a whole, can work out as more economical in situations where the price of the retired set has skyrocketed. Some people also enjoy having a long-term project reconstructing an old LEGO set. Whatever the reason, I’d like to discuss some of the tips and issues I’ve had with this way of collecting. Perhaps my example can save you a headache or two.
To me “Retiring Soon” label was the latest promotional tool from LEGO Shop at Home to entice people to buy older sets WITHOUT loss of profit (via discounts).  Since it is just a promo tool, it does not need to be 100% reliable.

I got told by a member of staff in the Meadowhall Lego store when I bought Ecto 1 that most ideas sets only get a 1 year production run, ecto 1 got extended because of the GB firehouse set that came out this year, I don’t know if that’s true but it’s what I got told.
Since the company’s beginning in 1932, Lego has grown to be the world’s third largest toy manufacturer, and for good reason. No child or adult can resist creating their favorite monuments, figurines, ships, carousels, and many more! As for the Lego set collectors who love Star Wars, the Millennium Falcon set will keep your Jedi impulses at bay while you’re out in public. If you prefer Batman, then “Holy Cow!” you have to allow yourself to have a ball with the Batcave set! If you just want a good ‘ol pirate-ey time, then land your ship and drop your anchor on the Skull’s Eye Schooner set. Interestingly, the Lego name is derived from the two Danish words “Leg” and “Godt,” which means “play well,” and so you should.
Fantastic set. I love the creator line for their versatility. I remember old Lego products having ‘alternate’ configurations in photos on the box/instructions, but no instructions on building those variations.
Twenty-two years after Star Wars was released, LEGO and Lucasfilm worked together to produce products in time for the release of Episode I in May 1999. The first sets were released under the LEGO System brand and consisted of eight sets from Episode I and five sets (13 in total) from the original trilogy films, including the first LEGO Star Wars X-wing (#7140) and Snowspeeder (#7130). Both of these sets have been revisited again many times in minifigure scale, MINI or even Ultimate Collectors Series (UCS) form — each new release bringing new features, new minifigures and new colored bricks and pieces too.
Did you know that investing in Lego can be one of the best investments you can make? If you look at the picture that I posted in the beginning of December, so approximately 1.5 months ago, I bought those Millennium Falcons for $100 each and now they are selling for $300!! 3x my money in 1.5 months, just goes to show the power of investing in Lego! I may make a YouTube channel on this, let me know if you’d be interested in seeing that!!
Another weird thing I noticed was that this set was never in stock in the 3 Lego stores my area. I checked over a period of several weeks and never saw it once, even after the Rogue 1 sets came out. I ended up purchasing it via shop @ home.

Take lots of good photos. Spread your LEGO pieces out on the floor or on a tabletop and take a picture of the whole lot. If you have sorted out minifigures or other pieces, take close-up photos of them. Take overlapping close-up photos of the spread-out lot. Some things to avoid in your photos are:
➡ ONLINE LEGO SHOP SALES & DEALS: A number of the older LEGO Dimensions packs are on sale, but this is not particularly a new development. You can buy most LEGO Dimensions packs at about half price both directly from LEGO and at other retailers. What is more interesting is that several newly released larger sets are on sale as well, with 20% off the regular price. This includes the #21127 LEGO Minecraft The Fortress, the #70322 LEGO Nexo Knights Axl’s Tower Carrier, and the #41067 LEGO Disney Princess Belle’s Enchanted Castle. Other notable sets on sale are some of the LEGO Nexo Knights Ultimate Knight packs, and the #40203 LEGO Vampire and Bat Halloween set. Also, the #41068 LEGO Disney Princess Arendelle Castle Celebration, and the #41066 LEGO Disney Princess Anne & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure have been on sale for many months now. They are great sets, but it is possible that LEGO made too many of them and they are not selling fast enough. You can find all the discounted sets under the Sales and Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop.
My kid is selling this bridge to me.  Not giving, selling. I’ve created an Entrepe-Monster.  Who started this? Me, but I had help. Check out Megan Rothrock’s The LEGO Adventure book in the background. Just one look at this bridge and he made his own.
@ suckerpunch83 is right. All sets made by TLG are in production long enough everybody who wants it can get it. There is and always will be a problem with “my personal demand/my finance ratio” and even welthy people can’t afford to buy all sets they want. In polish language there is proverb “life is an art of choice”.
A special should be noted about substituting inner foundational pieces. Rare pieces go right out the window when it comes to these. Many times the designers add these to give fans unique pieces to play with, but if they are never seen then you’ll spend a lot for very little return.
Poe’s X-Wing stands out with the bold black and orange color scheme.  This is a stark contrast to the usual gray and red/blue scheme from the original trilogy.  The assembled starship takes up some space, but does so with a relatively small piece count of 717.  It has all of the features you would want from an X-wing, the wings switch between attack and flight positions, multiple shooters, and retractable landing gear.  Included with set are Poe and two generic Resistance members, the real gem is naturally the BB-8 who sits nicely behind the cockpit.  The build is fairly straightforward and is certainly shorter than some of the bigger sets, but will keep you interested.  Come for the slick color scheme on the awesome X-wing, stay for the great features and BB-8.
