“lego star wars death star pieces -lego 75055 retired”

While not as big as the 10179 Millennium Falcon, this Episode one is still a great addition for any collector. With 985 pieces, if you get your hands on one, you’ve got a very rare set since it’s now retired and hard to find!
2017 is quickly coming to an end and to make way for some of the upcoming LEGO Ideas sets including Ship In A Bottle: The Flagship Leviathan, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, and Tron Legacy Light Cycle, LEGO will soon be retiring some of the current ones that are still on store shelves. LEGO didn’t mention when they would be retired but it’s possible that it could be by the end of this year or early next year.
I also keep an eye on elements listed as used. They often are the cheapest variety but they can also be the most discolored. One time I even received a piece with a sticker I needed to remove. Usually the pieces you don’t want used are ones that are entirely decorative like a printed element or window-glass. The problem with glass is not how clean it is but how well it fits in a frame. If the nubs are worn down too much they can easily fall out. As for discolorations, white is your biggest issue. It’s the one piece that is very noticeable when discolored. Keep this in mind if what you want is a pristine looking final model.
LEGO is doing some pretty major summer clearance right now at the Online LEGO Shop, including some very nice medium to large sets that are getting retired. Please note that once stock is out on retiring soon sets, LEGO won’t be making any more, so make sure you don’t miss out. 🙂

Listen, most Legos are going to go down in value the minute you buy them. Just try selling some generic Legos on Craigslist and see what the response is. The point isn’t to simply stock up on whatever Legos you can find. There are things to look for:
Our first entry from outside of the movies, Captain Rex’s AT-TE is a fantastic set pulled from the Star Wars Rebels animated television series.  Rex was introduced in The Clone Wars animated movie, but this set has an aging Rex from the Rebels animated series.  This set won’t appeal to everyone, as many might not follow the animated series, but for fans of the show, this AT-TE really hits the mark.  The sheer amount of cool stuff going on here should appease any Lego fan.  The spring-loaded shooters are always awesome, but this behemoth also packs on a couple of cranes, loading doors, and six moveable legs.  Moving this thing around is a lot of fun.  The minifigurines are Rex himself, of course, along with his partners Gregor and Wolffe and two Imperials two give chase; an Inquisitor Fifth Brother (with lightsaber) and Stormtrooper.  This set is a slam dunk for fans of Rebels, but is just plain fun for any Lego fan.
^^ Since Lego did tell us, which sets are going to retire “soon”, it seems they want to sell us their left over stock as fast as possible, creating an extra demand while still having lots of boxes. And with the last box sold, the set is retired. So there is no “date”, I guess. It had been the same with the Exo-Suit.

Lego proudly presents the building block set for this Hovertank which allows you to experience Chirrut’s battles just like in the TV Series and …
LEGO Taj Mahal 10256 rerelease is sure to illicit many opinions. It is almost exactly the same as the 2008 version. Is it a good value at today’s price? How will it affect the LEGO community of kids, builders, collectors, and investors?

This a great article that I’m bookmarking. I suddenly wished I had gotten the Town Hall modular and found the current going price rather ghastly. I’m gonna have to use these suggestions to see if it’s more affordable to just part it together, even if it ends up in a different main color than the original. Thanks!
“Note that this chart and the lists below contain large Star Wars sets that may not have been officially designated as UCS sets — such as 10188 Death Star and 10236 Ewok Village — but rather than debate the semantics of the UCS moniker, we have opted to simply include all large, exclusive Star Wars sets from 2007 onwards.”
Sort the incoming LEGO elements for the project in a way you like to build. Sure, you could just shove the pieces all in one big bag as they arrive from different sellers, however if you take the time to sort the elements in a way that you enjoy building, then when it comes time to put the set together, things are a lot easier. A couple of sorting methods are either by color or by piece category. I’ll often make broader categories like all blues or all bricks – whether they are modified or not. The added advantage of this method is that if you have to double check if you got a part already it is easier to find the answer. For large projects with thousands of pieces this can be very helpful.
This is a set to be coveted and one customer wrote, “The construction itself was not difficult (I am an adult), and the pieces in it are amazing. The jester heads and gold pieces alone make this set really fun. Add the power functions (this was my first power function set) and the music and it is unbelievable! The set is built so that when you turn on the motor and the carousel spins, the music will start by itself.”
