I disappeared into the Harry Potter Lego Internet rabbit hole and here are a few of the places I’ve found to buy discontinued Harry Potter Lego sets, or even used Lego pieces — all without breaking the bank.
Arkham Asylum Breakout 10937 Black Batman with wings, Joker (2013 Patient suit), Dr. Harleen Quinzel, Scarecrow (2013 version), Penguin (2013 version), Poison Ivy (2012 version), Robin (2013 version), Guard 2013
The Brick Bank features a bank, secretary’s office, bank manager’s office, laundromat and a detailed façade and sidewalk. The bank features an atrium foyer with wide, arched entrance, triangular-patterned floor tiling, ornate chandelier, oxidized-copper colored skylight, transaction counter with hidden alarm buttons and security glass, and a bank vault with safe deposit boxes and a large round door. The laundromat features a printed window, tiled floor and four laundry machines—one of which contains an “easter egg” play feature for “laundering money”: placing LEGO money-bills or coin elements through this machine will fall into a special deposit box inside the bank’s vault. (The rooftop also has another play feature for a robber to descend the chimney by rope and exit through a special entrance atop the bank vault.) The secretary’s office features a wall clock, desk, typewriter, cabinet with opening drawers, fireplace and an espresso machine. The bank manager’s office features a large desk with banker’s lamp and approval stamp, leather-look chair, printed portrait, statue and a cabinet. It includes 5 minifigures.

Okay, maybe I’m not understanding everything completely… I’ve been looking for 10199 winter toy shop… S@H doesn’t have it on their website, and it seems to be scarce online. The lowest price I can find it is $70 when the MSRP is $60. If it’s not “discontinued” yet, is it just sold out? And why doesn’t Lego carry it?
Space Port was released four years after Launch Command and is often seen as a continuation of that theme due to its similar logo and status as a Lego Town Subtheme. Space Port took the Launch Command concept and expanded upon it into new areas such as astronaut training and scientific experiments. The Space Port theme took a slightly less realistic approach to set design compared to Launch command, and some sets featured special Light & Sound bricks to enhance playability.
As a Lego Factory set, Market Street was to showcase a fan design, thus promoting the Design-it-yourself vision of Lego Factory. The modularity of the resulting model also may inspire people to design their own floor modules (or furniture sets) in Factory, without having to build an entire house.[3]
Lego’s Technic line is a series we haven’t mentioned in this list up to now, but it’s worth taking note of if you’re seriously into pneumatics and building what amount to movable puzzles. In addition to the standard Lego pieces that you expect from the block company, their Technic line—originally called Technical sets when it was created in 1977 before being renamed in 1984—utilizes a series of interconnecting plastic rods and parts to build vehicles and other movable machines that are really fun—and challenging—to create. If you’ve ever used a Mindstorms Robotic series, you’ll know what the Technic line is similar to, without the additional programming involved in robotics. This Mercedes-Benz Arocs set is one of the coolest kits we’ve ever seen: it features modular cylinders, valves, gears, and pumps, along with an engine and a power box to power the on-board crane that can reach up to 57cm in the air. Seriously, this thing is cool—and at $245, it isn’t cheap either. But the entire kit includes over 2,700 pieces, making it one of the largest and highest-detailed kids on our list. If you’re looking for something to experiment with, this Mercedes-Benz set will keep you challenged for weeks as you assemble and build a movable pneumatic structure.
Anyone else noticed that 6212 – X-Wing (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=6212-1) has disappeared from S@H (UK)? This slipped under my radar and was pointed out to me by @Kempo81. This is a great set IMO, and the length of time on-sale (nearly 4 years) suggest it was a great seller.
The reason interiors were not included in the first two models in the series, Café Corner and Market Street, was because they could not be seen in the pictures included on the packaging. Once the success of Modular Buildings sets had been proven with these first two sets, for the third set, Green Grocer, the designer was allowed to include interior details in each of the floors. As a result, many of the interior details of later sets, such Green Grocer, are not visible on the box and are only discovered while building the set.[10] However, the boxes of each set feature some of the interior details such as the escalators inside Grand Emporium and pool table inside Detective’s Office.
What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Creator Palace Cinema? Do you have it already? Or are you planning to get it before it is retired and sold out? Which one is your favorite LEGO Modular Building so far? Feel free to share your thoughts and own review in the comment section below! 😉
I really want the Parisian Restaurant, and then the Palace Cinema. Now would really be a good time to get one (or both). But, alas! I have no money to spare for them, because the Unexpected Gathering is at the top of my list. I’ll be getting that in November/December, maybe I could snag one of the second holiday sets. 😕
“With the soar in popularity of Lego with both adults and children, the effect on the values of both rare, hard to find sets and new releases has been incredible,” said Bev Channell, event director for Lego event BRICK 2015, running at Birmingham’s NEC this week.

Lego modular fire truck with two firemen and a dog. Exact replica to the one from 10197 Fire Brigade. I built it using pieces from my collection. The pieces are in good condition. There are some that …
I honestly don’t think it’s an issue for you to start collecting modulars now. Personally, the best set they’ve released is the newest one, which is the Parisian Restaurant. It has the intricate detailing and the most interior decoration. I think LEGO will not want to give up producing modulars as they appeal to AFOLS, TFOLS, and kids. It seems they will keep introducing a new one every January for some time to come. The modulars are big and take up a lot of space (and collect dust once they been sitting out for a while). Hence, I have been picking up the ones that really grab me, as I figure if i buy every one that comes along, I will be out of space pretty darn quick (aka- I will have a crisis when I need room for Wayne Manor, the X-Mansion, a hospital, museum, and library!). When I got back into LEGO, the Fire Brigade was still available at S@H, but I passed on it and the other modulars until the Palace Cinema was released. The PC sucked me into the modular line. Not being a completist and not liking clutter, I have been very selective about which modulars I pick up. Right now I have the PC, PR, and Pet Shop. I say, just pick up the modulars that you absolutely love as they’re released (and to hell with second market prices on retired sets). If you really want the GE or TH, buy sooner rather than later as prices will continue to go up as time goes on. If you can live without the TH, just wait and I think another big modular that will tie your LEGO city together will appear somewhere down the line. In my opinion, it’s not worth giving up the modular building experience just because certain ones have already retired. Maybe I am just talking out my a@@, but that’s my long-winded 2 cents. Happy building. 🙂

Toddler-friendly, and designed with little ones in mind, it’s a safe way to amp up the fun at home! Well 10199 Toy Shoppe was also ‘sold out’ at the middle of last year and it came back before the beginning of the 2010 holiday shopping season.. my gut feeling is it is gone for good now, with the bakery hanging around for two years. This also brings into question Lego ‘official’ discontinued time line provided…
Thank you for visiting our Lego Modular Series page. We hope you enjoyed these as much as we do! Be sure to let us know in the comments section below how your Lego modular town is coming along and happy building!
So this was my first real “big boy” LEGO set. I plunked down $200 on LEGO. I didn’t even tell my wife how much this thing cost because I knew she’d look at me like I was crazy (but also love the set once built). I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

I purchased this for my 10 year son who is a lego fanatic. For some reason Amazon wouldn’t post it so it was delivered to my sister in Vegas and flown out. This Town Hall is amazing, it took my son a day to build it and he has proclaimed that he will never pull it apart. The details are amazing and the building consists of three level with their own function. A wonderful addition to a lego collection, and although it says that it is for 14+ I think younger die-hard lego men will manage construction. This lego piece in Australia is $499.00, so Amazon please allow delivery to Australia as even with postage this is still a great deal – and I want to order some more!
This Batcave is really cool. It may not have as many pieces as the old one, but it’s still a nice size and a really good value for the price. I love the holding cell for the bad guys. The “change Bruce Wayne into Batman” play feature doesn’t always work quite as flawlessly as it should (sometimes he gets stuck), but it’s still a nice idea. The control panels at the computer are nice and detailed and I love how the door opens to let the Batmobile roll through (if you have the Batmobile set, too). The little details are nice, too, including the red phone (from the 60’s TV series).
A quick Google search for “Lego Modulars” or “Custom Lego Modulars” will reveal hundreds of these custom modular buildings ranging from museums to schools; however, here are shown a couple of our favorite (we have done our best to give credit to the original designer when possible).
Batcave measures over (21cm) tall and features elevator function that transforms Bruce Wayne into Batman, holding cell, flick missiles, computer with screens, chair, handcuffs, binoculars and batarangs

  1. Released in 2010, LEGO 10211 Grand Emporium was the fifth modular building and the second corner building. Featuring three floors linked by escalators, the Grand Emporium offered a unique, if familiar, rendition of a traditional urban department store. Other features of note include a revolving door, sizeable chandelier, and a large rooftop billboard.
