My favorites are The LEGO Adventure Book, volume 1 and volume 2. These full-color books show brick-by-brick how to build the different models. They are a little simpler than the more sophisticated The Unofficial Lego Builder’s Guide that I bought the boys a few years ago.
as someone who got the rebel combat frigate, it isn’t that interesting of a build and would probably only appeal to die hard star wars/star wars rebels fans. the Asoka and Cmdr. Sato minifigures are unique to this set, but it’s also a $110 dollar set.
Take lots of good photos. Spread your LEGO pieces out on the floor or on a tabletop and take a picture of the whole lot. If you have sorted out minifigures or other pieces, take close-up photos of them. Take overlapping close-up photos of the spread-out lot. Some things to avoid in your photos are:
“Build the highly detailed LEGO Star Wars X-wing Starfighter with folding wings, opening cockpit, display stand and R2-D2! Collect and create the most highly detailed LEGO Star Wars X-wing Starfighter ever produced. This iconic starfighter is featured… more
A note on aftermarket sales: This set is incredibly popular. I imagine that LEGO was surprised by the demand. The aftermarket prices have come down to ~$60, which is still way to high. But that is how a collector’s market works. Lots of people on here rating the set low because they paid 2-3 times retail for it, which is the buyer’s fault as much as the seller’s. Many people are also upset with the behavior of sellers who list these sets at high prices, which seems really weird to me. It seems like buyers who are willing to pay those prices should be happy for the fact that the sets are available at all. Buyers that pay that much and then get bent out of shape about it need to look to themselves. Prices go up on collectibles like this because enough buyers are willing to pay for it, simple supply and demand. If you or your kid is wanting this set, just sit tight. There will be more available at retail price soon. If not, just get some LEGO bricks in Minecraft colors and make your own. You’ll be a lot happier.
Lego Duplo Creative Ice Cream set #10574 comes with all 24 pieces to create different ice creams. This popular set has been discontinued and is hard to find, sells at on line auction for approx $50. There is no box or instruction manual, but easy to use your imagination with these. Overall in very good played with condition with mild play wear and a few small minor marks. Please see photos. We are clearing a lot of stuff including other Lego. Contact through Gumtree messaging please. No
We have strong reason to believe that LEGO 75060 Slave 1 UCS has a high risk of retiring soon! Get yours before it retires, since it is a Ultimate Collectors Series, this set will most certainly go up in value once it is retired! Four years later, Lego is still high on her Christmas list. I’m happy to contribute, albeit without spending inordinate amounts of cash. While specific sets are great, there are other ways to please your Lego-maniacs. Here’s how, you, too, can save some pennies on Lego.
Lego clearly wants to keep the history going as the Star Wars theme is consistently among the upper echelon of Lego themes in terms of the most sets coming out in a year. Part of this is due to the recent and planned theatrical releases of The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and The Last Jedi and, naturally, they still frequently draw from the first six movies in the franchise. Lego doesn’t stop there, however, as the animated shows Freemaker Adventures, Rebels, and Clone Wars all have sets that are not retired as of 2017. Eight movies and three television shows, that’s a lot of source material to choose from. What made it into our top ten list? Find out below.
The first step in putting together an old LEGO set is making sure you can get your hands on the instructions. Some people are happy to just download the instructions to their computer from an online source, others buy the original instruction booklets on BrickLink or eBay. If the set is really valuable, the instruction booklets will be expensive also, so you may just want to stay with downloadable instructions. You can find instructions for all recently released LEGO sets on LEGO’s own website. And there are also other websites that catalog the instructions for older LEGO sets. No matter which way you go, it helps to have the exact LEGO set number to find the instruction you want. The instructions are the key piece of putting together any LEGO set, so before you do anything else you need to make sure you get this.
Below is a list of LEGO sets that are at risk of retiring soon in and around the 2018 calendar year. It is organized into sets that are at a high risk of retiring soon, medium risk, and low risk. Note that LEGO retirement dates are not an exact science and all sets that have been available for sufficiently long can be discontinued at any time, with no notice. Duel on Naboo (75169): Recreate the famous battle scene from The Phantom Menance.  Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Darth Maul are all here to do battle on a small power generator from the Naboo fight. Frequently on Sale
Your child will have a renewed interest in the things he already owns and you won’t be adding more stuff to your household. Well, besides the book. But, they are available on Kindle, so you can save space that way, too.
If you do not have these sets yet, here’s your final chance to get them at their usual retail price. Add them to your collection ASAP (if you do not have them yet) before the prices start to inflate (and you may have to pay unreasonable prices to get them from the secondary market in the future…)
We all know which past sets have gone up in value.  We do enjoy the benefit of hindsight when it comes to the retired older sets.  But what are those sets currently shipping today that might go up in value
Design: This set uses a modular design. If you follow the instructions, you get eight distinct modules, four above ground and four below ground. You can arrange these in dozens of different ways to create tiny cave networks and a multi-layered effect. The caves have several different kinds of hidden resources that you can only see when you take the top layer off. The overall effect of the design is a pretty good representation of the Minecraft world.
In 2000 we got our first two UCS sets, the X-wing Fighter (#7191) and the TIE Interceptor (#7181). This X-wing fighter was the largest LEGO Star Wars set to date with 1,300 pieces. That year also saw the first Technic Star Wars sets in the form of a Pit Droid (#8000), Battle Droid (#8001), and Destroyer Droid (#8002). In total 19 sets were released in 2000, including the first LEGO System version of the Slave I (#7144) and Millennium Falcon (#7190). This year also saw the first LEGO Star Wars key rings to be released which included Darth Vader (not included in set counts).
There are tricks to filling the cup so that you maximize your purchase. For instance, fill the little rim at the bottom with tiny pieces, then add your large, expensive pieces, then add smaller and smaller pieces. Top off the cup with the itty-bitty pieces that shake down into the crevices.

With the included pieces you can build three distinct houses: a treehouse, a garage, or a regular house with the included directions. However, it is up to your own imagination to build even more different variations. Excellent set.
@myscrnnm: On most tape-sealed LEGO boxes there is a printed production run code on one of the seals, e.g. XXS6 with XX being the week of production, with S being Europe and 6 being 2016 (or 2006). On glued boxes the code is embossed or, since recently on some sets, printed.
That would be great, but I doubt LEGO would ever make it for the reasons you mentioned. Having said that, if a LEGO Ideas Hunger Games project would make it to 10,000, LEGO might consider a one-time set. 😉

  1. The less cool little brother of the X-Wing, the Y-Wing has always gotten a bit of a bum wrap.  They don’t project the sleek, effortless cool of a TIE or X-Wing fighter, but they get the job done and played a big role in the Star Wars universe.  Y-Wings were featured throughout many Star Wars movies, this one comes with minifigurines of Admiral Raddus and Moroff, suggesting it was set in the Rogue One timeframe.  The pilot is a generic Rebel pilot, rounding out the minifigurines are a Stormtrooper and an Astromech droid.  The extras on this set are why it makes our list.  The retracting landing gear is great, but the using the included crane to lift the ammo into place, then a fantastic rear gearwheel mechanic is used to drop the payload.  It’s quite a fun little mechanical twist that really stands out.  This build will likely take an hour or two, so not terrible complicated, but still a fun time as always.  The Y-Wing isn’t as sexy as an X-Wing, but it still deserves a place on your Lego shelf.

Brickwizard is a program that works off of Brickstore and it can help do all the leg work in trying to find the best prices on bricklink. The only downside is that it is not as flexible when and if you want to make substitutions.
Luke’s Landspeeder (75173):  There’s a lot to love here with the classic landspeeder build which also includes three classic minifigurines: Luke, C3PO, and Obi-Wan (or Ben, if you prefer) Kenobi. The Tusken Raider also looks fantastic.
