If you ever want to feel like you bought a whole bunch of new LEGOs but you have no money, then just start sorting your current stash.  Do it when your kid is NOT HOME.  Why?  Like a puppy, he will hang around you trying to grab and start building and this will mess you up and you’ll snap at him.  Counterproductive.  Make it a surprise – I thought of you today- gift! I use Ikea GLIS containers but there are others such as: (Make sure they stack! Shallow is better for smaller pieces)
Pick a brick is not a cheap way of buying Lego bricks. Consider what Lego charges per brick – $0.07+ per piece, small pieces being $0.07 and larger pieces $0.49 and up. Price per brick varies by size, color and whether a piece is basic or advanced. Cheapest way I’ve found buy bulk Legos is reputable eBay sellers who specialize in used Lego pieces. Typically they are sold in 1000+ piece lots that contain a variety of pieces in a variety of colors for something like $24.99. That’s less than $0.03 per brick. Do your research, you’ll get a lot more bang for your buck. BTW, if you or your kid are interested in building anything even remotely large, 1000 pieces will barely get you started. A large cup of bricks off the Lego wall for $16 = micro build.
The minifigs in this set are great. You get Leia in her Boussh bounty-hunter disguise, Chewbacca (complete with chains), Han Solo (who snaps into a great carbonite piece imprinted with his outline), Bib Fortuna (Jabba’s majordomo), Oola (the green-toned dancer), and a Gamorrean guard. There are also two unique figures — Jabba the Hutt himself (a wonderful model), and Salacious Crumb (his capering little monkey-like creature). Finally, there is a small build for a B’omarr Monk spider-droid.
Take lots of good photos. Spread your LEGO pieces out on the floor or on a tabletop and take a picture of the whole lot. If you have sorted out minifigures or other pieces, take close-up photos of them. Take overlapping close-up photos of the spread-out lot. Some things to avoid in your photos are:
My daughter is young, but already computer literate enough to search eBay for Harry Potter Lego Sets.  The prices for complete Harry Potter sets tends to be sky high (eBay prices are second only to the after-market prices on Amazon) — although you can find bargains if you pay attention. You might find a loose set (no box, most of the pieces) for 1/2 to 3/4 of the (after-market) price of the unopened box, but that’s still expensive (as they’re going for three times the retail price when in-stores) and slightly dodgy, as you don’t know for sure that all the pieces are there until you build the set.
This item may have minor scuff marks on it, but still looks very good. WARNING – LEGO pieces are intended and rated for children 5 years and up. Be advised that LEGO parts should not be swallowed as it can present a choking hazard.

as someone who got the rebel combat frigate, it isn’t that interesting of a build and would probably only appeal to die hard star wars/star wars rebels fans. the Asoka and Cmdr. Sato minifigures are unique to this set, but it’s also a $110 dollar set.
Let the pieces air dry. Lay the pieces out on a towel on their sides or base so water can drain. Keep in a ventilated room to speed up the drying, but keep them away from heat. They may take one or two days to fully dry, depending on humidity.
The drum tower to the side of the gate house has a catapult on top. Unlike previous catapults, this one is fixed facing forward. It also contains a spring, a soft pole that is deformed when the catapult is pressed down. It is much easier to operate than the standard swivel catapults included in previous sets, especially since you don’t risk breaking the structure when firing.
I would love if LEGO would make that Minas Tirith into a set. It is beautiful, not too big, not too small – just right. I’m not sure how they will handle it though that the films are going to be over. It could be a very nice final set though for the theme.

Nice catch. They have them in stock and no longer with the retiring soon label. Now that is very concerning. If there was one thing reliable, it was that when they said a set was retiring soon, it was. This just changes the game in a negative way. I don’t know the legality of such a thing – but this is getting close to an unfair business practice that may actually be illegal based on the public dissemination of misleading information.

  1. This Lego set is not only one of the top runners as far as expense is concerned, but it is also one of the best and well-sought Lego sets because it’s so symbolic of what everyone wants – freedom. Adult Lego collectors want the freedom to relish in their love of crafting, and building things, they believe, represents their values – the adult-level appreciation of things such as freedom, as well as the childhood wonderment of creating something from nothing that’s so spectacular and momentous.
Galaxy Squad, Alien Conquest and Ninjago are pretty common, so in used condition you might be able to get half of the original price. Right now Galaxy Squad is 50% off in most places, and those are brand new sets. Power Miners can get better money as it has some fans and it has been retired several years ago. Indiana Jones really depends on the set and the condition. Same with the MBA set. You can look at prices on eBay and BrickLink for comparable condition sets as yours and see how much they go for.
At the end of the day, this is our website and our list, so our opinion had the final say.  However, we’d be fools not to use the opinions of thousands of other brickheads out there.  We checked out the set ratings from the top retailers and factored them into our ratings when necessary.  We weren’t going to have a strong opinion swayed, but if we were on the fence about any, we’d take those ratings into consideration.
