The devil’s in the detail with this one. To build a Millennium Falcon this textured and detailed, you have to piece together 5,197 bricks. Other LEGO versions of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy have been and gone over the years, but this is by far the most visually stunning. The price tag might stun you as well, since it’s a discontinued item…

The F40 set is, in many ways, similar to what is included with the Architecture. The entire design of the car is well-executed, with the replica of the F40 being as accurate as a Lego set can be. Despite the relatively small-size—the set measures in at 3″ tall, 10″ long, and 5″ wide when built, weighing in at about 3 pounds or so—Lego has done everything in their power to build a set that accurately and faithfully recreates the F40. The set features a rear spoiler, body-work including the standard Ferrari logo, pop-up headlights, air intakes along the side of the vehicle, and a rear hatch complete with vents that opens to reveal the classic twin-turbocharged, 90 degree V8 engine known around the world for powering Ferrari’s legendary limited-run coupe. The vehicle build even has doors that can be opened, crafted door handles to match the original, a steering wheel, and two internal seats. The front of the model is protected by a clear windshield piece, and both an actionable hood and spinning tires make the car feel all the more real. Even with that small size, the car is built with over 1,100 pieces, an impressive number that is sure to keep multitudes of car lovers busy for hours and hours building.
Café Corner (set number: 10182) was the first of the Modular Buildings series. It was originally released in April 2007 at a MSRP of US$139.[3] The set contains 2056 pieces and is recommended for builders 10 years of age or older. Some of the set features include a 3 floor building set on a street corner, a vertical ‘Hotel’ sign, opening doors and windows, café tables and umbrellas, a striped awning and 3 minifigures.[4] Many unusual building techniques were incorporated, such as annexes, fanned ski shoes as decoration, angled corner, and a 3D façade.[2]
LEGO City: LEGO City sets feature community workers and helpers with fun LEGO City buildings and vehicles. You can use these sets to create a LEGO City scene. There are LEGO City sets with police officers and bad guys to catch. Or take your police on the go with a mobile police unit. Airport sets feature airplanes and helicopters. The Fire Department LEGO City set has a fire truck and fire helicopter. Sets to complete your LEGO City include a bus station, cargo truck, and a train.
Lego discontinues sets for a lot of different reasons… Mostly because of demand for parts I am sure, they cannot thin out their lines to keep 1000 more sets in production, plus sets get old, they do.. most people buy one and they want to see the next one out.. therefore if they to make more of them then no one would buy.. and no, only selling 3 sets to people over 1 year is not their idea of good sales…. Then they would need to list a lot of their warehouse for 50% off.. again not something they want to do…. I mean look at the steamrollers and pig farms, which would not die… I think the biggest reason is to keep the lines fresh.. not to mention sets can come back at times (see the Metroliner, Main street, Black Falcons Fortress and Guarded Inn and recently the Maersk Container ship).
If you need a little break from science fiction-based Star Wars sets you can jump into an architectural project building the Taj Mahal. The $299 set gives you more bang for your buck than the Collector’s Millennium Falcon, boxing a total of 5,922 pieces (about 700 more than the Falcon). What also makes this set a bit more of a challenge for builders is that all the pieces are all generally the same color. This makes it especially difficult for those who like to dump all their Lego pieces into a pile rather than build bag-by-bag. Puzzle builders will attest to the difficulty of puzzles that don’t vary too much in color or patterns. The Lego model of the famous Taj Mahal palace in India was released in 2008.
It may look simple enough on the box, but The Lord Of The Rings’ Tower Of Orthanc is actually a real tough cookie. Because most of its 2,359 pieces are jet black and slim, working out which bit goes where is the stuff of nightmares (in, um, a good way). The Treebeard that comes with it will make the struggle worth it… honest.
The Brick Bank features a bank, secretary’s office, bank manager’s office, laundromat and a detailed façade and sidewalk. The bank features an atrium foyer with wide, arched entrance, triangular-patterned floor tiling, ornate chandelier, oxidized-copper colored skylight, transaction counter with hidden alarm buttons and security glass, and a bank vault with safe deposit boxes and a large round door. The laundromat features a printed window, tiled floor and four laundry machines—one of which contains an “easter egg” play feature for “laundering money”: placing LEGO money-bills or coin elements through this machine will fall into a special deposit box inside the bank’s vault. (The rooftop also has another play feature for a robber to descend the chimney by rope and exit through a special entrance atop the bank vault.) The secretary’s office features a wall clock, desk, typewriter, cabinet with opening drawers, fireplace and an espresso machine. The bank manager’s office features a large desk with banker’s lamp and approval stamp, leather-look chair, printed portrait, statue and a cabinet. It includes 5 minifigures.

You can find them all in the LEGO Exclusives or LEGO Hard to Find (sort by price to easily locate them) section at the Online LEGO Shop.

Lego sets also offer a way for adults to learn through experience. Studies have shown, using Lego sets as an example, that the faculties of the mind learn better through example. As such, having someone showing you how to create an object using Legos can stimulate the creativity in your own brain.

Appearing on BBC Radio 1’s “The Matt Edmondson Show,” Arnett put his Batman voice to use beyond the animated film world. Edmondson prompted the actor to make a prank call to a local toy store and speak to employees using his character’s voice.
OK what makes this set special is basically the Servo Motor – this is the first and only (current) set to have this, what it means is once built you have a decent RC vehicle that WORKS via wireless infrared remote – the Servo Motor allows steering via the remote… so you CAN take it rock crawling, just be a little careful – it isn’t a “proper” RC vehicle (with tough prop shafts and axles)
LEGO’s series of Creator Expert Modular Buildings started in 2007 and has since skyrocketed in popularity with LEGO fans, both young and old. The advanced building techniques, unique designs, and connectable nature of the sets makes them a collector’s dream and every single one has appreciated greatly in price after retirement.
You can also buy individual Lego pieces direct from the Lego.com. The selection is much less complete than Bricklink, but you can buy in bulk whereas sellers on Bricklink often have only one or two of each brick. You will not find specific Harry Potter mini-figures or “Hogwarts” pieces there, but you should be able to find many of the pieces you need to complete Harry Potter sets, and in the correct colors. The same might be the case if you live close to a Lego store (we don’t, so I can’t pop in and see what they have). Shipping from the Lego online store tends to be more expensive than BrickLink, so if you are only looking for a few parts bear that in mind. I got bulk quantities of windows, tan bricks, doors, and other various parts that look like they belong in the Hogwarts castle, and the shiping is much more reasonable once you’re ordering a larger amount of bricks. They often have special offers or free gifts with purchase, so you can find great value or get some exclusive bricks by ordering direct.
Cylinders look like pumps, but they are the outputs of the energy, rather than the inputs. There are five versions of cylinders. The Generation 1 cylinders came in two lengths, only had one input and worked on pressure or vacuum. The Generation 2 cylinders have 2 inputs (and come in studded, studless, and small versions), and work on pressure in both directions. They allow pushing and pulling, depending on which input air is pumped into.
I’m not sure if what sold out of set #10199 was the end of the 2010 season stock or the rest of the sets. Perhaps the Winter Bakery’s seasonal stock isn’t selling as fast since they were discounted by the Lego brand stores, though they seem to be gone from the NoVa stores. I probably saw the same Toy Shops that Yellowcastle found at the Potomac Mills, VA Lego store this last week.
For years, LEGOs have stood as some of the most popular construction toys around, allowing children and adults alike to dive into their imaginations to produce beautiful and functional LEGO models. Furthermore,…

The fourth in the series, 10197 Fire Brigade was the first modular building to include a vehicle in the form of a classic 1930’s fire engine. The building itself is detailed with red and grey brick architecture, and features a garage for the fire engine, fireman’s pole, and rooftop bell. The Fire Brigade was the first modular building to be stockpiled in large amounts by resellers and is considerably less rare and expensive than it’s predecessor, the Green Grocer.
There’s a difference between boys and girls. Yeah, I mean, beyond that one difference. If you give male and female monkeys toys and you give them toy cars and dolls, the male monkey will generally start playing with the car, even if they have no proper understanding of what a car even is. It has moving wheels, it can be pushed down slopes, it speaks to the technical part of the brain. The female monkey will more likely pick up the doll. The “caring” instinct.
