@drdavewatford …. yes you’re right about most of your points. The gimmickry that TLG has always used in the Miniland at all the LEGOLANDs is very apparent in these sets. And I do like the color pallettes (possibly makes more available at PAB walls). Maybe if these sets were available as “facades only” as an additional option to complete sets, it would provide those of lesser means an opportunity to buy these pricey sets at a more affordable cost (and use the parts from their own collections to complete them as they see fit).
Lego pneumatics offer the opportunity to learn and experiment with the principles of pneumatics and control circuits. Advanced use of Lego pneumatics has been made in various Lego Mindstorms creations.
If you believe that by purchasing the non-retired sets would cause you to buy the retired sets, then you must have some disposable income, considering the retired sets are ranging between $400-$1000+.
It is fully ‘cafe corner compatible’.  The building yard can attach either side of the main building.  The top floor ‘under construction’ can be removed to reveal the interior which will then hinge open to allow play inside. The crane is an update and redesign of 7905-1 and is fully functional.

FB, GE and TH are all retired now but the prices aren’t too crazy (relatively speaking at least). I’m not sure how expensive the pieces would be. I don’t imagine the garage pieces, gold helmets and white bell tower pieces in FB being cheap. The green domes are the only pieces that jump out to me in GE, but I could be missing something. I imagine the garage pieces and orange bricks may be pricy for TH.

The new Lego Brick Bank (set # 10251), which just debuted in January of 2016, is a great new addition to the Lego modular city. The bank itself has your standard bank iconography with ornate architecture, a large atrium, a transaction counter with security glass and, of course, a vault with safe deposit boxes. Upstairs is a secretary’s office complete with a typewriter and espresso machine and the bank manager’s office finely decorated. However, this modular is not just a bank but also includes a laundromat around the corner on the ground floor with 4 laundromat machines. Altogether, this makes for a practical and fun addition whether that means your townspeople will actually use the facilities as intended or hold them up at gunpoint so the police have to be called in. Oh, wait, there isn’t a modular police station yet… yep, that does pose a few difficulties!

-the box was a little bit dented, but for an item that’s out of production that can happen. I don’t keep my boxes, anyway, so I didn’t feel the need to ding the rating, but for those who do, just know that damage to the box is a very real possibility.
Continuing the LEGO Modular Buildings series, this highly detailed, 3-story Pet Shop building and townhouse with full internal and external detailing is the perfect addition to your LEGO town. Greet customers with a menagerie of pets and let them treat them with a selection of toys and supplies. The pet shop building features a hinged staircase for easy access, upper apartment with kitchenette and upper loft overlooking the open plan interior below. To the side, the tastefully appointed townhouse features a detailed ground floor with accessories and spiral staircase leading to the upper floor. The attic space features storage boxes and French doors leading out to an elegant front balcony, while the rooftop garden, complete with fresh vegetables, brightens up the rear of the building.

The newest LEGO Modular Buildings – the #10232 LEGO Creator Palace Cinema, and the #10243 LEGO Creator Parisian Restaurant – are shown as available. I just finished building the #10243 LEGO Creator Parisian Restaurant, and I will say this; if you only buy one LEGO Modular set, get this one. I enjoyed every step of the building process and the final model is just so lovely. Building adult-oriented sets is so different from building regular LEGO sets; they are so much denser, there is so much more detail, and the techniques used are so interesting. I don’t know how many times I said to myself during building “Wow! It’s so cool how they did that!”
Downtown Diner (set number: 10260) is the thirteenth set in the Modular Building line. It was released on 1 January, 2018 and contain 2,480 pieces with a MSRP of US$169/149€. This building reintroduces the teal color (what LEGO calls Bright Blueish Green) that hadn’t been in production since 2008. The first level of this building is a 1950s-style diner. It has a curved front window, red bar stools, a classic bubbler-style jukebox, soda fountain-equipped counter, and an open-plan kitchen.
Sure…the review may seem a bit on the negative side…however, AFTER encountering the issues I mentioned, I still ordered TWO of the LEGO Police Station 7498s, the LEGO City Police Command Center 7743, and TWO of LEGO Bricks & More Deluxe Brick Box 5508 in addition to this kit.
Another beautiful landmark in LEGO form here, thanks to the expert-level LEGO Creator range. This Sydney Opera House build measures up at 2,989 pieces. The shape of the building itself, with all its angled walls, makes this a hefty challenge even for a seasoned master builder.
So what do these box redesigns tell us about the modular buildings series? Well, the simplest conclusion to draw is that the Palace Cinema, Parisian Restaurant, and Detective’s Office are here to stay and the Pet Shop is likely retiring soon. After all, why would LEGO update the boxes of sets just to retire them immediately after? And similarly, why would the Pet Shop be the lone modular using an old box design?
