” -lego pieces worth money”

However, if you want just (1) set, this would be a nice one to get. Compared to the original Jabba’s palace, this set is much more sturdy. I would not let the kids play with the older one because it would probably not last long and fall apart. This set however survives a 3yr old very well.
We started getting ready for our day and I told him now he could open the last gift under the tree. He opened it up and it was a Lego sorting box. He was thankful, but when I told him, “I thought you’re going to need it for this.” and I brought the BIG box out of the other room. He was speechless! One of those priceless moments!

^^ Since Lego did tell us, which sets are going to retire “soon”, it seems they want to sell us their left over stock as fast as possible, creating an extra demand while still having lots of boxes. And with the last box sold, the set is retired. So there is no “date”, I guess. It been the same with the Exo-Suit.
Star Wars fans are no joke. They live, breathe and would eat all-things Star Wars if they can! In 1999, LEGO started to make Star Wars sets and figures and since then, these sets have become hot items for collectors. For the past 12 years, there have been more than 200 sets, and some of them have pretty high price tags, selling for well over $1,000. Since there are too many to list, we thought we’d feature 22 of the coolest Star Wars LEGO sets around!
➡ LEGO ANGRY BIRDS SETS ON SALE: The entire LEGO Angry Birds line is on sale. While Angry Birds may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there are some interesting pieces in these sets you might like, so it’s worth checking them out just for the parts. I gave this to my nephew yesterday for Christmas and he loved it. Right away we started to play with it. It has so many pieces and details that we only got to build 3 sets between us two. My nephew sure is going to have a blast building the whole thing all week haha that means he’s going to be entertained for many hours!! That will definitely give my sis some time to sit back and relax.
@bok2 How exactly can I tell if a set has had more than one “run”? The LEGO Store in my town has had the Big Bang Theory almost continually since it came out, and I’ve seen it on sale several times this past year.
Legos have come a long way from when I played with them as a child over 20 years ago. Another benefit of the new Lego sets is the separation of the Lego pieces in different numbered bags. The numbered bags allow you to build a portion of the set with only pieces needed for that portion related to the directions.
Disclosure: Toys are Tools has not been paid by any of the aforementioned parties to write this post about saving you money. However, Toys are Tools has been given admission to help facilitate a review of the The Art of the Brick exhibit. Additionally, the LEGO adventure book was also submitted for review – stay tuned for interviews! Send me questions to ask them.
“Retiring Soon” means nothing, some sets get the label and are sold out a week later, a set like Medieval Market gets the label and it was still available for like 6+ months. “Retired” is really the tag to look for but that doesnt show up until a set is almost completely sold everywhere so by time you see the label its worthless. Im sure LEGO does mess with buyers/investors to encourage them to buy a set they were on the fence about or were waiting for a sweet sale but instead rush out and buy it at full MSRP. Its all a big game with constantly changing rules, Investors either give up and get out, get burnt and loose money or you keep up with the changing market and actually make a profit.
Yes thats actually what happened to me, I recovered an old catalog from 2007, flipped through it, and found the Cafe Corner. My eyes widened as I drooled over the set (its price was listed as $130.) I couldnt find it on legoshop.com, so I looked on eBay and found one for $1040. I was then really disappointed, because I could never afford it at that price…
