The Brick Bank features a bank, secretary’s office, bank manager’s office, laundromat and a detailed façade and sidewalk. The bank features an atrium foyer with wide, arched entrance, triangular-patterned floor tiling, ornate chandelier, oxidized-copper colored skylight, transaction counter with hidden alarm buttons and security glass, and a bank vault with safe deposit boxes and a large round door. The laundromat features a printed window, tiled floor and four laundry machines—one of which contains an “easter egg” play feature for “laundering money”: placing LEGO money-bills or coin elements through this machine will fall into a special deposit box inside the bank’s vault. (The rooftop also has another play feature for a robber to descend the chimney by rope and exit through a special entrance atop the bank vault.) The secretary’s office features a wall clock, desk, typewriter, cabinet with opening drawers, fireplace and an espresso machine. The bank manager’s office features a large desk with banker’s lamp and approval stamp, leather-look chair, printed portrait, statue and a cabinet. It includes 5 minifigures.
Over the years, several new pieces were introduced in this line as well. The new pump was spring based, and could only be operated by hand, which limited pneumatic power to how fast it could be manually pumped. This obviously limited the power of pneumatic circuits. So in 1992, LEGO introduced two new pieces; a small pump and a small cylinder. The small pump did not have a spring on it, and it was designed to be operated by a motor, which would allow for continuously-running pneumatic creations. As of 2011, the small pump has only appeared in one set — Air Tech Claw Rig (1992) (found on Peeron) — and a few parts sets (no longer available). A new version of the small pump was released in Lego set 8110 Unimog U400 (2011). At 2L, this pump’s stroke is 1/3 longer than the old one’s 1.5L, ‘L’ being the LEGO unit of a stud. This made it much easier to use in studless construction.
This Creator Carousel Lego set is one of the best Lego sets, and is nothing less than amazing. It should be considered a must have for all serious Lego collectors. The carousel is not just a display piece because it really spins and plays music while the intricately detailed horses and swing boats move up and down! This expensive Lego set also comes with nine figurines and over three-thousand pieces.

Build your very own version of America’s most famous residence with The White House, a perfect miniature version of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue that will look great in an office, a dorm room, or a den. This is a great gift for history and architecture fans.
The Hot Wheels Elite One The Dark Knight Batmobile is based on the design of Batman’s ride from the Dark Knight films. As the description states, “as midnight tolls in Gotham City, evildoers begin carrying out their dark deeds,” and that’s when our superhero hops into the Batmobile and takes off as the city’s caped crusader.
The Architecture Eiffel Tower presents a moderate level of challenge suitable for the amateur builder, and completing it results in a charming conversation piece you’ll enjoy showing off for years. It’s also a great model to build along with your kids.
For some reason, Lego decided to revive an obscure line from ’79 targeted at young girls. The one thing that kept the Scala doll line remotely attached to the Lego brand was the use of some bricks in the play sets, and from ’97-’98, the brick studs were in flower-shapes incompatible with other Lego sets.
During development of this first set in the series, the designers considered the cost of several options. One more expensive version had additional café features, dark green interior walls, a bike and an additional minifigure. In contrast, a lower cost version of the set was considered which lacked rear exterior walls, interior stairs, and extra interior walls on the second floor, and had only 2 minifigures but no bike.[1]
From her crown to her torch, The Statue of Liberty is an iconic monument and symbol of freedom from tyranny, financial hardship, and suffering for many immigrants since the late 1800’s. She was given to the United States by France on October 28, 1886 as a gift for the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence.
Let your little dude chase down the bad guys in an entirely new way with the Fisher-Price Imaginext DC Batcopter! If he’s a fan of Batman, then this is an absolute must-have gift to go along with his superhero play.
Unfortunately, many of these are now retired so they are quite expensive to purchase and will only keep going up in price as the years go on. Even so, the Cafe Corner (the very first set) can still be found on sites like Amazon although you will be paying a pretty penny for it. However, sets that have just retired or are net yet retired (like the Parisian Restaurant or Pet Shop) are still very affordable. If you were to purchase these un-retired sets now and keep adding to the collection as new sets are released each year, you could eventually build quite an impressive city for just pennies a piece!

I completely understand your point Rabbit, and your right, I do like that sets hold their value, and even increase over time. Being an adult and having extra money affords me the benefit of buying more than most. As a collector though, and having no intention of ever selling, I could care less if everyone had every set. I do it to relax and enjoy, not for profit. Again, I am not knocking those that do it for profit but there are many sides to every discussion. So to sum up, for me I wouldnt mind sets being more readily available.
Yes thats actually what happened to me, I recovered an old catalog from 2007, flipped through it, and found the Cafe Corner. My eyes widened as I drooled over the set (its price was listed as $130.) I couldnt find it on legoshop.com, so I looked on eBay and found one for $1040. I was then really disappointed, because I could never afford it at that price…
