This item is new, never played with, and only handled for sorting.  This is a real LEGO figure from a LEGO® set. There is no shovel with this figure.   Please note all LEGO figures are originally sold as part of larger sets and have been removed from those sets, and placed in a plastic bag.   Check out our other LEGO auctions.   DISCL AIMER – LEGO and the Minifigure® are trademarks of the LEGO Group of Companies, which does not sponsor, endorse, or authorize this item.  LEGO and the Minifigure are trademarks of the LEGO Group of Companies.   WARN ING – LEGO pieces are intended and rated for children 5 years and up. -the box was a little bit dented, but for an item that’s out of production that can happen. I don’t keep my boxes, anyway, so I didn’t feel the need to ding the rating, but for those who do, just know that damage to the box is a very real possibility.
DUPLO: DUPLO sets are designed to get babies building from the age of 18 months all the way up to 5 years old. These LEGO bricks are much larger so that are easier for little hands to maneuver and do not pose a choking hazard. Many of these sets feature character favorites like Cars, Disney princesses, and Batman.

The birth of these themed Legos would lead them to the throne of the toy industry, and it was licensed theme sets that saved Lego from bankrupcy in the 1990s. The birth rate was declining, video games were on the rise, and children were simply not playing with toys that did not provide instant satisfaction. The amount of time it took to build an unknown Lego set was not worth the investment to many children.
This was the perfect gift for my son. Challenging but manageable and a pleasure for him to build. He could not have been happier. Very impressive looking and through in design and function. The perfect gift and an ideal keepsake with many happy memories for him and for our family.
Why? Are you kidding? Just look how cool it looks, I couldn’t but buy it. Also it has IR remote control, two L Motors and one of the new servo motors ( no more rubber bands on the steering ). Read my review of this fantastic set here.
Utinni!! 3,296 pieces make up this LEGO version of Star Wars’ Tatooine Sandcrawler, which really is a sight to behold. It has ramps, cranes and compartments that move, and it rolls around on tracks. It’s brilliantly detailed. And the plethora of Minifigures and droids add an extra layer of fun.
We gave this to our son for his 8th birthday. It was challenging for him, which is good. He stuck with it and after rebuilding a couple of parts to get it right, he was finished. I liked that it was challenging becuase he usually rushes through a LEGO set and he has extra pride in this one. There is a working elevator that changes Bruce Wayne into Batman and other cool features. My son LOVES it!! As always with LEGO, is is well-constructed.
With these sets it is possible to build or convert manually-operated mechanical movement to motorized using electric motors which are controlled via switches or IR remote control. Future plans for this set include more parts which will add even more function/control possibilities.[citation needed]. Lego has already started to design and sell Lego Technic models (sets) which can be easily retrofitted with the Power Functions system. For example, models like the 8294 Excavator and 8295 Telescopic Handler are sold like classic Lego Technic models with manual motorization but are designed with free space for the Power Functions components with factory instructions on how to perform the conversion to an electrically operated model.
Below is a list of LEGO sets that are at risk of retiring soon in and around the 2018 calendar year. It is organized into sets that are at a high risk of retiring soon, medium risk, and low risk. Note that LEGO retirement dates are not an exact science and all sets that have been available for sufficiently long can be discontinued at any time, with no notice. This is my third modular MOC, but the first I have submitted to Ideas.  My aim was to raise the standard of build by analysing the strengths and weaknesses of the two I’d done before.  I also aimed to increase PLAYABILITY and focus more on what the average Lego user 10-14yrs wants from a set like this.  On top of this I wanted to keep in mind cost implications and whilst I was being more ambitious with the size of the build compared to my first two I wanted to set a ‘brick count’ and achieve the build within a target of 4200.  Less than Tower Bridge 10214-1.  The Final brick count was 4174.
The 2nd image (inspired by Louis Sullivan’s Carson Pirie Scott building in Chicago) is one I built because I was intrigued with the curved and straight railing type fence pieces, and how closely they resemble windows, when used correctly. I also used some of those 4×4 corner bricks (in white)… although now we have the wide macaroni bricks to show the same curve. And yes…. I used the unused background parts of LEGO stickers… cut them into little rectangles… and stuck them onto the building to hide all those “missing notches” that macaroni and other curved bricks have. I like the sculptural effect that this curved building has, and the hiding of the notches improves the appearance.
This set offers a ton of play — the boat floats, the raft floats, there’s a helicopter (with pontoons — DOES NOT FLOAT), there’s a submersible (DOES SINK, heh heh), a lighthouse, and sharks. Plus 6 minifigs! Pilot, captain, first mate, second mate, and a happy couple. Plus a dog. Plus a popsicle!

Another great entry in the Lego Star Wars series, the Death Star set promises to be just as much an exercise in nostalgia as in patience and puzzle-solving. Constructing the 16″x16″ round orb of doom will take plenty of weeks, with over 4,000 pieces to construct and assemble as you build not just the outer shell protecting an entire planet-destroying laser, but also the interior, complete with plenty of Lego figurines and small details familiar to the star Wars super-fans inside of all of us. With over 23 mini-figures, a control-room for the laser, hangar bay with a movable launch rack, and even a detachable TIE Fighter for Lord Vader, the Death Star set is one of our favorite Star Wars sets ever constructed. It’s no secret when it comes to Lego kits, it’s the little details that count, and the Death Star is full of hidden easter eggs that’ll leave even the most dedicated fans of George Lucas’ space opera series giddy with glee. As you can imagine, something with so much intricacies and detail won’t come cheap: those 4,000 pieces will run you a cool $499, one of the more expensive sets still in production from Lego. It might sound expensive, but for the Star Wars fan in your life, this is a must-have gift.
In the meantime my daughters report card was sent home from school so I bought the Tower Bridge instead for her!! Her and I enjoy many hours together building big Lego sets! She is 10!!! She does the majority of the construction. I sort the parts and locate the parts she requires to build next! Fun!!

lego said “”discontinued”” this means it will not be for sale on the lego web site after that date and if you wanted any of the sets the only way would be from retail shops that had it still in stock or auction sites like ebay.
That said, if you have the time and can split the box out by category (be it Star Wars, pirates, Medieval, Technic or whatever) these smaller – more specific – bundles will frequently sell for more than a job-lot of unsorted bricks.
TECHNIC Figures were a form of minifigure that were used in some TECHNIC sets ranging from the mid 1980’s to 2001. They mainly appear in the Arctic Action and Competition themes. TECHNIC figures were much larger than conventional minifigures, and had more joints. These were similar to Belville Figures.
Over the years, several new pieces were introduced in this line as well. The new pump was spring based, and could only be operated by hand, which limited pneumatic power to how fast it could be manually pumped. This obviously limited the power of pneumatic circuits. So in 1992, LEGO introduced two new pieces; a small pump and a small cylinder. The small pump did not have a spring on it, and it was designed to be operated by a motor, which would allow for continuously-running pneumatic creations. As of 2011, the small pump has only appeared in one set — 8868 Air Tech Claw Rig (1992) (found on Peeron) — and a few parts sets (no longer available). A new version of the small pump was released in Lego set 8110 Unimog U400 (2011). At 2L, this pump’s stroke is 1/3 longer than the old one’s 1.5L, ‘L’ being the LEGO unit of a stud. This made it much easier to use in studless construction.

Batman is given a wide range of vehicles, their appearances resembling their accepted forms. Several vehicles, including the “Batman Dragster”, “Batman’s Buggy”, and “Bat-Tank”, have also been introduced. The Batmobile appears similar to the way it does in the 1989 film, while the Batboat takes on a hovercraft-like form. All the set-boxes feature a comic strip by artist Greg Hyland at the back, featuring stylized versions of the set in action.

Brilliant to use the shield as a trowel for the BRICKLAYER. I’ve lifted the idea for a carpenter’s workstation and changed it a bit.  I’ve created a workbench on the mezzanine floor inspired by this idea.  Also the ‘plate compactor’ being used on the pavement is from 7746-1 from 2009.

Unfortunately, many of these are now retired so they are quite expensive to purchase and will only keep going up in price as the years go on. Even so, the Cafe Corner (the very first set) can still be found on sites like Amazon although you will be paying a pretty penny for it. However, sets that have just retired or are net yet retired (like the Parisian Restaurant or Pet Shop) are still very affordable. If you were to purchase these un-retired sets now and keep adding to the collection as new sets are released each year, you could eventually build quite an impressive city for just pennies a piece!
