Safety first. On the cinema, I think it looks better in build (love the roof) than in the picture. Also, how could one live as a Lego builder without “Forever Sorting” Lighting it up (BrickLoot) really adds a lot, too. The BrickLoot lighting for the bank really really makes the model, imho. And, no, I do not work for Brickloot, but I am really glad I decided to experiment with lighting
For all the pluses, however, there are a few negatives. The back is very plain, for example, and would have benefited greatly from a ladder or bicycle rack, like sets #7639 and #4435. I would have loved to see the top swing open as well, instead of clicking on. Also, even with the top removed and the side swung open, maneuvering minifigs around the vehicle can be challenging, especially in the front. To get a minifig in the driver’s seat, I not only had to pop off the top of the camper but also remove the windshield. (But then, again, I have adult-sized hands instead of the child-sized ones this set was designed for.) I also would have liked to have seen two seats up front, so that both minifigs could sit in the cab, like in a real RV. Also, it’s a bit of a nit-pick, but the front wheel wells are a third-tile higher than the back wheel wells. It might seem minor, but it’s one of those things that you can’t unsee once you realize it (which you do pretty quickly as you’re putting the thing together yourself), and just breaks up a little that beautiful green line running down the side.
I thinking of getting the palace cinema, but, I already have the town plan set that came with a cinema in it and it works fine with what I have. I to am hoping that LEGO would drop there prices on sets alittle( or a lot) and that the sale drop would give them enough of a warning to scale back a little. Hang in there Admin, and yes it would be great for you to get away for A while . Be safe and my thoughts are with you.
New building techniques introduced with this set include a systematic way of building numbers. On the front of the building the year 1932 appears, which is a reference to when LEGO was founded. The number 3 also appears on the pavement of the set representing that this is the 3rd set on the series from Lego set designer Jamie Berard (he had previously designed Café Corner and Green Grocer).[15]

The Lego community needs a company to track theme and set popularity like They do for network tv. Then we could have a bubble watch for themes or sets that are hovering on the abyss of discontinuation. :o)
When I first saw this set, I knew I had to have it. The old school design makes it a must have to go along with the other Creator buildings. Overall, it is a very detailed Lego set that looks nice with the other sets. While I will still probably get the Lego fire station, this was set is very cool and a must have just for looks alone.
LEGO traditionally retires the oldest LEGO Modular Building amongst the currently available sets right around August/September, before a new model gets added to the collection at the beginning of the following year. Retiring a set means that LEGO is not making any more, and whatever stock is left will be sold until all the sets are gone. In the case of most of the previous LEGO Modular Buildings, the remaining sets sold out so fast that it caught people by surprise and they had to turn to the secondary market to purchase them for much higher prices. The currently available LEGO Modular Buildings are as follows:
Ride The Scuttler with Batman to rescue hostages taken by The Joker at Commissioner Gordons retirement party, with this exciting set from THE LEGO® BATMAN MOVIE. The highly posable Scuttler features a net shooter, six stud shooters, extendable arms, an opening minifigure cockpit and hidden jetpack for Batman. Batman is also equipped with a Batarang to take on The Joker, Poison Ivy and her vine monster. Includes six minifigures.
The set is sturdy enough for the kids to play with, they loved that the stories of the building are removable and basically turn into their own ‘set’ to play with. The details inside the fire-station are great.
Crazy number of trains, multiple tracks, storage Thomas, roaring dinosaur ramps, bridges, train station, book box set, individual books (including one from library discontinued we bought second hand) and more. Son outgrown it now we are in LEGO phase! No time wasters this is a great collection.
Here’s another great set that will have little ones getting creative and acting out their favorite superhero scenes. The LEGO DUPLO DC Comics Superheroes Batman Batcave is the perfect way to introduce our smallest superheroes to building!
LEGO released the first European gears in 1970.[2] At the same time, cross axles and bushes were introduced, which are still used in TECHNIC sets today. The first universal joint also appeared around this time.
These sets are still built – we built them originally over a year ago. And my sons still play with them occasionally. We enjoyed building these so much, and the time spent with my sons building them was so fun I am having trouble finding the strength to take them apart! (I am sure someone out there can relate).

But I will agree that LEGO is in a different league as other collectibles… but I see all the hype of the new series of Minifigs… being cranked out by TLG by the zillions… and wonder… hmmmm will that bubble burst at some point?
The hellicarrier is being retired soon as well. I’d also expect the Silent Mary to have a limited run and be retired next year. The Batcace which did not do as well is on its way out. And good bye to Hoth which was not well received. Additionally, Lego sold 16,000 UCS milleniaks Falcons within hours of the VIP release yesterday.
Yes thats actually what happened to me, I recovered an old catalog from 2007, flipped through it, and found the Cafe Corner. My eyes widened as I drooled over the set (its price was listed as $130.) I couldnt find it on legoshop.com, so I looked on eBay and found one for $1040. I was then really disappointed, because I could never afford it at that price…
