“lego my lego |lego minifigures unopened”

I completely understand your point Rabbit, and your right, I do like that sets hold their value, and even increase over time. Being an adult and having extra money affords me the benefit of buying more than most. As a collector though, and having no intention of ever selling, I could care less if everyone had every set. I do it to relax and enjoy, not for profit. Again, I am not knocking those that do it for profit but there are many sides to every discussion. So to sum up, for me I wouldnt mind sets being more readily available.
It’s really lucky the Empire had a spare Death Star hanging around. Who would have thought a tiny exhaust port could be so much trouble! Save yourself the heartache of watching the first one blow up by building the Death Star II. If you hurry you could even build the 3,417 piece set before it’s destroyed in the Battle of Endor. This rare set was only around for two years, and the price tag reflects the short run. If you want it in your collection, you’ll spend over $2,000.
So like mentioned above, if you want Lego to keep making sets then keep buying loads of them… But usually most runs go for about 2-3 years before being discontinued (unless it is specifically for a retail outlet (like the Helicopter and limo sets for walmart) then I am guessing it is as many as that store wants to buy and make and lego maybe matches that, who knows
With no new film in 2003, the number of sets released was reduced to 20 of which were MINI sets (in plastic boxes) featuring iconic Star Wars vehicles from the five films released to date.  Four of these sets came as two packs featuring matched pairs of vehicles such as X-wing Fighter & Tie Advanced (#4484), Sebulba’s Podracer & Anakin’s Podracer (#4485), AT-ST & Snowspeeder (#4486) and Jedi Starfighter & Slave I (#4487) — each one of these sets included extra pieces to create a TIE Bomber. The other four Mini sets featured larger vehicles such as the Millennium Falcon (#4488) and AT-AT (#4489). 2003 also saw the release of the largest minifigure to date — Jabba the Hutt — as part of the Jabba’s Palace set (#4480) and also the first large scale AT-AT (#4483). Two USC were also released during the year, the Rebel Snowspeeder (#10129) and the elusive Cloud City set (#10123), the latter of which includes a uniquely printed Boba Fett minifigure which is very hard to find (and one of the few sets I still don’t own).
The interest has not waned in our home. My older boys invest in discontinued sets and have successfully sold for profit on eBay. (In case you didn’t know, investing in Lego is more profitable than buying gold.) While we were watching Ghostbusters the other night, FishChick9 pointed out the new Lego Ghostbusters set. Sister, I am not spending hundreds of dollars on one Lego set.
This is one drawback of being the second child. You never have time to become gradually familiar with a building toy. There aren’t even enough simple bricks after you start buying set after set.  Instead you inherit of big mass from big brother and if you didn’t pick up the “LEGO language” quickly, well, then you need a translator!
LEGO Shop has double points right now. I was browsing and noticed the points per item were doubled. They are having some kind of sale Saturday but the double points are active now. No word on how long double points will last. Hopefully they’ll announce when he give the Saturday sale.
There are also two large LEGO Star Wars sets retiring soon. The #10236 LEGO Star Wars Ewok Village (released in 2013), and the #75059 LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler (released in 2014) have both been around for a while, so it makes sense that LEGO is retiring them, even though they are both excellent sets. The LEGO Star Wars Ewok Village, in particular, is a great set even for non-Star Wars fans, who would like to build a nice forest scene for elves, Na’vi, or Robin Hood and his merry band of outlaws. You can find both sets under the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Public transport: St Albans is a well connected commuter city with many bus routes and two train Stations (SAC and SAA). The shop is around 15 minutes walk from either train station and around 3 minutes walk from town centre bus stops on St Peters Street.

As thehornedrat says, I may have to succumb to lepin for the opera house set along with the Taj Mahal and the very early modulars which I missed. I refuse to pay the prices being asked on eBay for these sets because A, I can’t afford it and B, I think these investors who stockpile sets to try and mug people off by making huge profits when they retire are worse than lepin.

But after seeing the movie and understanding the importance of this ship (and how a great build it is), I changed my mind and now it’s in the fourth position of my recommended list. And believe me, you won’t get a better size/price relation with other than this set.
This month, after reviewing the entire 2016 models, we are adding three new LEGO® model releases to our recommendations to collectors. These would be as future potential investments. We have added these three new models to our future prospects Read more »
There are only two ships more iconic than the X-Wing, and both of them made this list. No rebel force will be complete without a fleet of X-Wings, but this 1,304 piece set is a bit too pricey for you to make your own squadron. Coming up with $3,500 to purchase one these resistance fighters might be as difficult as destroying the Death Star.
2005 also saw the release of the first video game based on a themed Star Wars toy line by the LEGO Group — and what became the first in the franchise written by Traveller’s Tales (TT Games). This release featured a game adaptation of all three prequel films based on their LEGO incarnations and hit stores a month before the theatrical release of Episode III. Versions released for Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Windows PC, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, and Apple Mac were all published by Eidos Interactive and LucasArts, and were a great new way to play with your favorite characters from a galaxy, far, far away.
LEGO 75054 AT-AT is the latest rendition in a long line of sets based on one of Star Wars’ most recognizable vehicles. 75054 is the fourth full-sized AT-AT model produced by LEGO and nearing the end of its lifespan. But… Continue Reading →
Now, we’re not advising you to cash in your ETFs and invest in 1,000-piece Millennium Falcon sets. But since we here at Wealthsimple are all about giving you all the information you need to make great investments (and also informing you about entertaining ways people try to make money), we sought the advice of Jeff Maciorowski, who runs the Lego-investing business Brick Picker. Here’s our novice’s guide for how to get in on the brick market, what to look for, and what the Holy Grail of all Lego sets is.

I got told by a member of staff in the Meadowhall Lego store when I bought Ecto 1 that most ideas sets only get a 1 year production run, ecto 1 got extended because of the GB firehouse set that came out this year, I don’t know if that’s true but it’s what I got told.
LEGO enchants many kids but not every kid. There might be someone willing to sell it to you or just give it to you if you just start a discussion in your online parenting groups about how you would like to buy affordable LEGOs.  If you are looking to give it to a classroom or community center, mention that in your query.    You never know… For us, we’ve seen a lot of generosity from fellow New Yorkers.  I’m so grateful.
➡ LEGO DC SUPER HERO GIRLS SETS ON SALE: Four of the LEGO Super Hero Girls sets are retiring soon and are on sale; the #41232 LEGO Super Hero Girls Super Hero High School, the #41231 LEGO Super Hero Girls Harley Quinn to the Rescue, the #41230 LEGO Super Hero Girls Batgirl Batjet Chase, and the #41233 LEGO Super Hero Girls Lashina Tank. You can find them under the LEGO DC Super Hero Girls section or under Sales and Deals at the Online LEGO Shop.
Surprisingly, the sleek, AT-AT-toppling Snowspeeder is rarer than its space-based brethren the X-Wing Fighter. As one of the early entries in the sought-after Ultimate Collector Series, the Snowspeeder unfortunately doesn’t include a minifigure for Luke Skywalker’s short-lived co-pilot Dak Ralter. Poor Dak.
LEGO Taj Mahal 10256 rerelease is sure to illicit many opinions. It is almost exactly the same as the 2008 version. Is it a good value at today’s price? How will it affect the LEGO community of kids, builders, collectors, and investors?

While most of the LEGO Star Wars faithful has now fixed their gaze on the grandest reveal that LEGO has slated this Force Friday II, it seems that we can expect more LEGO Star Wars sets to be unveiled towards the end of the year and even until the first quarter of 2018. read more
And for the post above @mrdoofa – happens everywhere – diecast, art, real cars, action figures, etc. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t bother Lego – If buyers are willing spend money on old retired items, the same buyers will also spend money on new releases. I bought an Extra Town Hall when it was going EOL. Am I a bad person? I don’t think so. The profit when I decide to sell buys more Lego I want, which is good for TLG.. You can do the exact same…..
I can give you some info. If you want a specific set check it weekly at the Lego store. It will get a retiring soon tag (not sold out or hard to get tags those are different). Past that check fan sites like this one, but don’t take anything said on them as the final truth.

➡ ONLINE LEGO SHOP SALES & DEALS: A number of the older LEGO Dimensions packs are on sale, but this is not particularly a new development. You can buy most LEGO Dimensions packs at about half price both directly from LEGO and at other retailers. What is more interesting is that several newly released larger sets are on sale as well, with 20% off the regular price. This includes the #21127 LEGO Minecraft The Fortress, the #70322 LEGO Nexo Knights Axl’s Tower Carrier, and the #41067 LEGO Disney Princess Belle’s Enchanted Castle. Other notable sets on sale are some of the LEGO Nexo Knights Ultimate Knight packs, and the #40203 LEGO Vampire and Bat Halloween set. Also, the #41068 LEGO Disney Princess Arendelle Castle Celebration, and the #41066 LEGO Disney Princess Anne & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure have been on sale for many months now. They are great sets, but it is possible that LEGO made too many of them and they are not selling fast enough. You can find all the discounted sets under the Sales and Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Four years later, Lego is still high on her Christmas list. I’m happy to contribute, albeit without spending inordinate amounts of cash. While specific sets are great, there are other ways to please your Lego-maniacs. Here’s how, you, too, can save some pennies on Lego.
Mmmmm it just seems ludicrous to me that in order to save money, I have to purchase the earlier wave Lego Dimension sets from a seller in North America. Even with international postage costs, these sets (boxed) work out at an approx saving of 50% compared to the UK price. This seller must have purchased the sets when they were drastically reduced in price, and is obviously making a profit.
LEGO® will relaunch one of the largest sets ever in time of the holidays.  It will be released as set number 10256.  It will sell for $369.99 and will have the same number of pieces as set 10189 released Read more »
2017 is quickly coming to an end and to make way for some of the upcoming LEGO Ideas sets including Ship In A Bottle: The Flagship Leviathan, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, and Tron Legacy Light Cycle, LEGO will soon be retiring some of the current ones that are still on store shelves. LEGO didn’t mention when they would be retired but it’s possible that it could be by the end of this year or early next year.

  1. For me, secondary market is a blessing. I have a chance to buy retired technic sets thanks to collectors and investors and i don’t have a problem with paying an extra cash for those sets i call it “delay tax” because i just came out of my Dark Ages.
When shopping for the holidays many LEGO fans focus on the newest sets, however it is also a good idea to check out the LEGO Sets Retiring Soon and the LEGO Sales & Deals sections of the Online LEGO Shop. This is especially true towards the end of the year when many sets get put and sale and retired to give space for the sets of the new year. So let’s take a look at what is getting cleared out right now, and you can also use the links in the right-hand side-bar to check regularly before the end of the year. 🙂
Put the pieces in a laundry bag or pillowcase. A fine mesh clothes bag will prevent the bricks from jamming the machine, and minimize damage to the bricks from tumbling, although scratching is still possible. You may use a pillowcase if you do not have a laundry bag, but make sure to close it tightly with a zipper or a rubber band.[4]
