Anyhow, I just wanted to alert you that the LEGO Modular Buildings are selling like hotcakes, and if you want one (or more) for the holidays you better get it now – especially the retiring ones. You can find them all in the LEGO Exclusives or LEGO Hard to Find (sort by price to easily locate them) section at the Online LEGO Shop.
Fly high above Gotham City in the Batwing and battle against Harley Quinn with Batman and Robin in this cool THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE: The Batwing set. The Batwing features an opening dual minifigure cockpit for Batman and Robin, rotating boosters, adjustable wings for flight and landing modes, 2 spring-loaded shooters, 2 disc shooters and an opening rear compartment with a car inside. Harley Quinn has a mobile cannon with a 6-stud rapid shooter. Includes 3 minifigures with weapons and accessory elements including Batman’s Batarang and Harley’s hammer.
I agree, it’s really cool that you got the information– although I’m concerned that these dates may give people a false sense of confidence about delaying to buy certain sets– In other words, what does “discontinued” mean to LEGO?
Please note that the Cafe Corner and Market Street sets do not include interior photos as these sets did not come furnished, otherwise all of the other sets have interior decorations. Lego Modular Buildings are listed below in the order of their release…
We built this set as a joint project, and it’s such a cool LEGO set. You can see in all of the windows, so it really has a great deal of dimension. However, this was also the very first LEGO set we have ever purchased that was missing pieces! We are still waiting for LEGO to respond to our inquiry about how to get what was not in the box so we can finish the complete structure.
@rocao… I shouldn’t have said “overpriced”…. I should have used the term “more expensive”…. generally (if the buildings were of solid LEGO) the 2x factor would have lead to a price 8 times (2 to the 3rd power) as much. But since these are hollow structures, a price difference of 4 times would be more appropriate.
A set is made for about 2 years, then that stops, then it all depends on how quickly the existing stocks sell out.. usually it is 3 years total from ‘release’ to ‘cannot find them from Lego’. There ARE exceptions of course, such as sets made for specific stores, such as the Limo and City townhouse. At least in the States the Limo with chopper was out for an astounding handful of months even though Europe had them for about 6 months before, and then it was only Lego and Walmart selling them..
OK what makes this set special is basically the Servo Motor – this is the first and only (current) set to have this, what it means is once built you have a decent RC vehicle that WORKS via wireless infrared remote – the Servo Motor allows steering via the remote… so you CAN take it rock crawling, just be a little careful – it isn’t a “proper” RC vehicle (with tough prop shafts and axles)
The Fire Brigade just moved to discontinued status, so if you can find one on the shelves I’d recommend purchasing it now. On my last visit to the Lego store the employees said they won’t be getting anymore in stock.
Drive out into remote areas with the mobile LEGO City Arctic Outpost and investigate the secrets of the ice in its high-tech laboratory! The truck’s powerful engine and massive tires means it can cope with the toughest conditions. Pull out the box of tools from the trunk and unclip the circular saw and wrench from the sides of the truck. Open up the detachable mobile lab to reveal an impressive array of equipment, including computer screens and microscope, to support the explorers in the search for the secrets hidden in the ice. Cut through the ice block with the chainsaw and attach the all-terrain vehicle’s chain to drag it back to the Outpost. Then activate the crane to lift the ice into the lab for analysis. Includes 3 Arctic explorer minifigures with accessories.
Bought as a Christmas present for my grandson. He absolutely loves LEGO and has uncountable sets. He builds them as soon as he gets them and then keeps them built to play with. LEGO brand is wonderful. Everything I have purchased from this brand is excellent. Grandson is 9 years old and saves up his money and buys a lot of sets for himself. They are great teaching toys are pretty sturdy after being assembled, enough so that they can be played with. My other grandchildren play with them also (6-8 year olds), all except the four year old who is not careful enough with them.
It may seem bad now that 6/9 modulars are gone, but if you can get one of the retired ones (some stores may have some on hand), you could potentially have half of all the modulars since the Detective’s Office will make it an even 10. If you’re not irritated about missing the first few, I wouldn’t worry about missing a good chunk of them. Personally, I have nothing before FB and I would only pay original list price for any of the ones before it.
Technic figure is, due to the lack of a uniform, just part of the technical fantasy/model. But when a boy is thinking of the moving parts in a supercar, motorcycle or crane, that usually wouldn’t involve an operator. The boy himself is the operator. Putting a Technic figure in a model means putting someone else in the driver seat. This part isn’t about identification, it’s who is in charge.
Thanks to its 3,104 pieces, most of which are the exact same shade of grey, the Ultimate Collector’s Series version of the Imperial Star Destroyer is pure evil as a piece of design. The Emperor would be proud. It comes with a 16+ age tag, and isn’t for the feint of heart. And since it’s been discontinued for quite a while, it’s also impossibly expensive. This is one for the only the most die hard Star Wars fans.

We’d be silly to actually recommend you run out and buy the Lego Architecture Taj Mahal set if you’re looking for something to do in your spare time; the $3,300 asking price basically prices most out of the market entirely But if you have 3.5k to drop on a Lego kit, and you want to go all out, the Taj Mahal set is not just a limited-run series, it also features almost 6,000 pieces in the box. Sure, that isn’t a great price-to-piece ratio if you’re looking at products like the first two on our list, but the Lego Taj Mahal is one of the most magnificent sets we’ve ever laid eyes on. The set is huge, measuring at over 20 inches wide and 16 inches tall, and weighing fourteen pounds inside the box. Taj Mahal is the largest set ever designed and sold by Lego, and we think some Lego fans are willing to drop the $3,300 to get access to such a limited-run set. But for everyone else, you’re better off buying a cheaper, smaller set—especially since you could probably use $3,300 to plan an actual trip to the Taj Mahal in India.
But I will agree that LEGO is in a different league as other collectibles… but I see all the hype of the new series of Minifigs… being cranked out by TLG by the zillions… and wonder… hmmmm will that bubble burst at some point?

You also get the Coast Guard cutter, which is really well designed- the roof flips up to access the bridge, with control stations fore and aft. There are buoys/fenders on each side of the ship, a rotating (manually) radar antenna (the bar type usually seen on ships), a working hoist aft, and a helo pad on the forecastle (that’s the raised deck on the front of the ship). There’s a minisub/ROV with twin props, which clips onto the hoist. There’s a helo with a winch and anchor and floats instead of skids, which sits on the helo pad. There’s a speedboat with a nicely rendered outboard motor and it’s own radar (the round kind on small boats). And there’s a lighthouse with a bunch of jagged rocks. It was a fun kit to build and there’s a lot of potential for creating adventures. To top it all off, the cutter and speedboat float because- why not? Yeah, Lego just figured the boats should float. Awesome.
There are three versions of the pump. The old Generation one pump, the new Generation two pump (both of these are spring-loaded) and the small pump without a spring (designed for use with motors). The Generation one pump is red, while the Generation two pump is yellow and has a larger contact pad at the top of the pump. Generation three pumps are now available in translucent blue.
In 2006, a poll was taken, aimed at the AFOL community. Adult fans were asked to share their ideas and opinions of what concept they would like to see for a future model from The LEGO Group. Some of the ideas submitted were: more town and buildings, structures with more architectural detail, realistic buildings, minifigure scale buildings, solid and enclosed buildings, and more. These ideas were taken into consideration and a year later the first set in the Modular Buildings series, Café Corner, was released. A LEGO fan was invited to provide feedback and suggestions during the design of that set.[2]
This forum is not good for my health. Whereas I had merely toyed with the idea, but not seriously…..I am now! I’ve spent vast fortune securing the deleted SW UCS, I don’t want to go there again!! But will I regret it?? Arrghhhh.
If you’re a collector looking to grab as many of the architecture sets as you can, you’ll be pleased to know the scale of the Capitol building matches the scale used for other Washington D.C. sets created within the Architecture sub-series, including specifically the Lincoln Memorial, making it a great choice for fans of politics or United States history specifically. The set weighs a little under four pounds in total, and the sheer number of pieces—basically makes it a poor fit for children looking to build the set on their own. However, we think this set is great for puzzle collectors and history fans alike, and would make a great bonding experience with your kids, so long as they’re willing to play with a building instead of a spaceship set. If you’re looking for a complex set that is a perfect match between “responsible adult” options and the fun of playing with Legos, you’ll have to check out the Capitol Building set from the Architecture line. It’s one of our favorites.
