When movie audiences saw it for the first time in Marvel’s The Avengers back in 2012, the airborne SHIELD Helicarrier was a thing of beauty, a remarkably feasible-looking design of how a flying aircraft carrier would look like built in our world. Since then, the wondrous flying vessels would figure in two more MCU movies (and cameo unnamed in Fox’s “Deadpool”). read more
The thing about LEGO products is that even as a year crosses into the next and new sets, minifigures, etc are introduced in the process, on the other hand that transition also means that it’s time for certain existing products to make their final bow and retire from the stores. read more
While you’ll get the same kind of mixed bag at the online Goodwill Store, I think there is a greater chance that you’ll likely get more pieces and here’s the kicker if you are lucky – if you buy it from a location near you, you can just PICK IT and NOT PAY FOR SHIPPING those 15+ pounds of LEGO bricks (Sometimes shipping is $20-$30 UGH!)

The next resource I found is http://retiringsets.com/, just from a google search I did one day. If you ever want to feel like you bought a whole bunch of new LEGOs but you have no money, then just start sorting your current stash.  Do it when your kid is NOT HOME.  Why?  Like a puppy, he will hang around you trying to grab and start building and this will mess you up and you’ll snap at him.  Counterproductive.  Make it a surprise – I thought of you today- gift! I use Ikea GLIS containers but there are others such as: (Make sure they stack! Shallow is better for smaller pieces)
Lego employee here. If you have a Lego store near you, look at the price tags. If it has the top left corner cut off, it’s going to be retiring soon from our shelves. It’ll be available online and then discontinued for good after that. Hope this helps!
This tower contains four levels. The base of the tower contains a rear door for the King to escape if his castle falls. The 2nd floor contains the King’s throne, a bottle and a chalice. Above that is a treasure room, with a chest filled with gold and rubies. The top of the tower has a torch, and space for the archers to stand.
2) Make those sets big, and hopefully limited editions. Limited-edition and seasonal sets typically appreciate well—as you likely know, the combination of rarity and desirability is the magic formula for appreciation. So do big ones (think: thousands of pieces) with intricate details. And anything related to movies or franchises (Star Wars, Disney, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, et al.) tend to garner strong returns.
