The thirteenth set of the modular buildings is a particularly large one — 10260 Downtown Diner includes 2480 pieces. A three-store building with a 1950s-style diner in the first level, a gym on the second level and a recording studio on the third. Includes 6 minifigures and a pink convertible car.
The Town Hall is the largest and most imposing of the Lego Modular buildings. Towering over your brick city. The front is gorgeous with clever pillars and steps. Even the doors are a fantastic build. It is also a distinct and rare color, hard to find from any other set. The minifig she form a story of a Wedding, presided over by the mayor.
Town Hall (set number 10224) was released in March 2012 and is the seventh set in the Modular Building line. The set contains 2766 pieces and is recommended for builders 14 and over. It is the tallest Modular set, taking the title from the Green Grocer—having three floors with generally higher ceilings than the norm, plus a clock and bell tower on the roof. It contains many interior details, such as a working elevator, along with board tables and balconies to look to the floor below. Along with many the interior decor details the building features the pilastered portico and brick façade treatments of United States Colonial Revival architecture. The 1891 date on the building represents the birth year of the founder of LEGO and when reversed, it’s the birth year of the designer, Astrid (1981). The set was priced at £149.99/US$199.99/179.99€ when released by LEGO on February 16, 2012. There are eight minifigures in the set including a wedding couple. The set had a global discontinuation date of 31 December 2014 and had a much shorter lifespan than its predecessors.

I would just like to add to your post, they also make other modular sets that are not exclusive to the Creator Expert line, but they are exclusive or somewhat close. The best two examples that I can give you would be the Monster Fighters Haunted House which actually can fit into your LEGO city, if you want to incorporate it. The other set which came out earlier this is the Bike Shop & Cafe set.

Gary (@istokg) you’re spot on about the gimmickry, but that’s part of the point with these sets. If you listen to designer Jamie Berard talking about the Modulars, it’s clear that one of the objectives is to employ novel building techniques and use pieces in unusual ways as much to teach AFOLs new ways of building as it is to “surprise and delight” us (as he himself says in one of his videos). It’s also a way of sneaking unusual colours back onto the palate in greater quantities – remember all that Sand Green in Green Grocer, Medium Blue in Market Street, and then there’s Sand Blue in Pet Shop. This is I believe very much a deliberate move to “delight” AFOLs. Finally, I would also challenge your assertion that they’re overpriced; in so much as ALL LEGO is expensive you’re correct, but compared with many other sets the parts to price ratio is a bit of a steal.
Because a slight delay is involved between increased pressure and cylinder movement, various feedback loops can be used whereby one pneumatic component can activate another in a series of mechanical events.
Beginning 2008, LEGO has released several sets with mechanical linear actuators, which are used for the same purpose as the pneumatic cylinders, but the fact that they can easily be extended to intermediate points means that they approximate hydraulic cylinders more closely.[citation needed]
The Fire Brigade just moved to discontinued status, so if you can find one on the shelves I’d recommend purchasing it now. On my last visit to the Lego store the employees said they won’t be getting anymore in stock.
The minifigures are worth the price of this set alone. The Penguin is of course cool, and he comes with an umbrella and a little detonator for the dynamite, but I think the unique scuba Batman is the best part of the set. He comes in a navy blue batsuit with a harpoon gun and a scuba tank. His face is also two-sided; one side has his normal Batman face while the other shows him with a diving mask and respirator, and it looks really neat under the cowl.

This LEGO Creator incarnation of London’s Tower Bridge is an absolute beauty. And with it’s 4,287 pieces and moving parts (the bottom bit of the bridge opens up, of course), it’s definitely not a walk in the park. It does come with a cute little London bus, though, and promises one hell of a sense of achievement to any who manage to master it.
I have all the sets except Market Street. I also have an extra Green Grocer MISB. I am so fortunate that I bought the Cafe Corner when I did. It had already been discontinued when I purchased it at the LEGO store. A fluke. My advice to all of you that don’t have the Cafe Corner or an unlimited income…. Move on with your Lego life. The Green Grocer is still somewhat attainable. Every time you look over at the Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, and now the Pet Shop you will be reminded of what could have been.
My son loves it. He really gets imaginative with it and its mid February now and he is still playing with his christmas present!!!!. Wear your slippers as stepping on lego pieces in your socks is no fun.

LEGO released the first European gears in 1970.[2] At the same time, cross axles and bushes were introduced, which are still used in TECHNIC sets today. The first universal joint also appeared around this time.
Stafford considers the Galidor line to be Lego’s most heinous offense. Based on a kid’s show of the same name, the line was basically an action figure series with awkward features like interchangeable arms for characters. Each set in the line featured specialized pieces, which were expensive to produce and in practically no way resembled a Lego product.
