Modular Revival is just getting started, so you can expect a few things to change over the coming months as we plan to roll out these exclusive sets and who knows, maybe you’ll see other themes be implemented into the Revival series.

Yes, they are challenging builds that use interesting techniques that you can replicate on other builds. Also the number of brick pieces that comes with a 4 walled building is the best part. Like you, i enjoy building cities and these take up a good chunk of real estate. Once you have one modular you can just line up base plates and build beside it. IMO spend your money on new bricks, at a good price, instead of going back for the old ones and paying .40,.50 cents per piece
The design appeared twice in the movie and the film’s production designer described it as a car boasting “Lamborghini lines combined with tank functions: an armored riot control vehicle, complete with machine guns shooting rubber bullets and a large cannon mounted on the front.” Featuring authentic details and decoration, this is a must-have for both Batman and Hot Wheels collectors.
Probably biggest and best kit you can get in the $50 dollar range (I vetted many options). Includes lots of interesting little specialty piece (ice saw, pic axe, etc). My 6 year old nephew would not stop until the entire kit was done. Entire assembly is probably 5 inches tall and 12 inches long or so.
Why? I am a 100% serious. This is one of the most enlightening Technic sets that I have touch. When you build it you have the sense of understanding. You are one with the LEGO. And what the hell… the experience only cost 9€. You must read my review of the Model A and Model B.
The internet delighted when the Lego Creator line debuted the classic Volkswagen T1 Camper van a few years ago, and it’s still one of the most fun and most unique Lego sets we’ve seen on the market. Though the first series has been unfortunately been discontinued by Lego—as is the standard for most unique Creator products—you can still find these classic ’70s busses for the low price of $149 if you look in the right places online, a great price for this 1,300 piece set. The second-series set, meanwhile, is an even cheaper $119, though it comes in a slightly-reworked box design. We’ve linked to the cheaper second-generation model, but the first is also available on Amazon. The interior of this bus is what makes it so special—with a fully-detailed interior, complete with table, seats, steering wheel, and even a gear shift knob. Both the back and the side doors can open, so you can see the interior in all its glory. Overall, just like with some of the Star Wars sets on this list, this Volkswagen camper van just makes us nostalgic and reminiscent for a bygone period of time. Groovy.
“With the soar in popularity of Lego with both adults and children, the effect on the values of both rare, hard to find sets and new releases has been incredible,” said Bev Channell, event director for Lego event BRICK 2015, running at Birmingham’s NEC this week.
A sequel to the first Lego Batman called Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes was released in 2012 and included other DC Comics characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash, most of them appearing towards the end of the story.
I know the Admin and I are going to be trying out the I-Brix lighting system. It’s not out yet but scheduled for December to its Kickstarter backers. Not sure how much longer after that before it becomes available retail.
Yes thats actually what happened to me, I recovered an old catalog from 2007, flipped through it, and found the Cafe Corner. My eyes widened as I drooled over the set (its price was listed as $130.) I couldnt find it on legoshop.com, so I looked on eBay and found one for $1040. I was then really disappointed, because I could never afford it at that price…
Going back to the #10232 LEGO Creator Palace Cinema, it is somewhere in the middle between the earliest LEGO Modular Buildings, with detailed exteriors, sparse interiors, and taller overall size, and the recent Modulars that are shorter, but are much more detailed on the inside and outside. The Palace Cinema looks great on the outside with colorful (and interchangeable!) posters and other details, but the inside could use a bit of extra decor. And, it is the only LEGO Modular Building with stickers (movie posters, signs, movie screen). It is also one of only three corner buildings, which makes it very useful to turn at the corner, or finish off a street. As you can see, there are some plusses and minuses to this set, but overall it is a well-liked Modular. Below, I have included the official description as well as a video-review, so you can see all the details. And if you want to purchase it, it’s available at the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop.
It’s interesting though, for example, doing a little research on the Modular Buildings, it looks like the average active selling life per set is about 2+ years. Strange that Market Street’s life was “cut short”. Not sure about the average life for SW, HP or the rest.
The tenth modular building emerged in January 2015 in the form of 10246 Detective’s Office. Comprised of a pool hall, detective’s office, and barber shop, this set features an entire backstory based around ‘cookie smuggling’.
The first dedicated Technic motor was a 4.5 volt rounded brick (p/n 6216m) released in 1977 as part of the Expert Builder Power Pack (960-1) and Supplementary Set (870-1), this output via a small protruding axle that would rotate when the motor was powered. The motor was not geared, resulting in high-RPM, low-torque output. Gearboxes and a square casing were available. A 12 volt motor of the same physical dimensions as the 4.5 volt motor was also available in set 880-1. The 12 volt version is visually distinguishable by being black, rather than grey.

The majority of the pieces are fairly common. If you have spares laying around, you might have a good number of these pieces already. What you don’t have can be purchased for a fraction of the ~$300 the complete set is selling for on Bricklink.
Beams – Beams are long blocks with rows of round holes. All beams are one stud wide, but they can have varying lengths. They constitute the basic structure of the TECHNIC system. Before 2000, the TECHNIC system used TECHNIC bricks, essentially standard bricks with holes along the sides. Beams are part of “studless construction”, which allows TECHNIC models to be more compact. They have rounded edges and no studs.

Can you believe that Lego Modulars has been around for 10 years now? They have! The Corner Cafe was first released in 2007 and now Lego has just announced their new model for 2017, Assembly Square (set # 10255), which marks 10 years of modular Lego building! For this auspicious occasion, Lego has gone all out in creating one of the most elaborate modulars yet – a fact which the piece count of 4,002 pieces attests to! That’s almost twice as many pieces as the original Cafe Corner! Unfortunately, the higher price puts this one out of my budget but if you can get your hands on one you will be in for a treat – as the above photos show! Not only is there a ground floor bakery, florist’s shop and café, but a middle-level music store, photo studio and dental office, AND an upper-level dance studio and apartment with a rooftop terrace for barbecuing. The details are absolutely stunning! I was one of the original Cafe Corner builders who called Lego to let them know that while I really appreciated the exterior details, I felt that the interior needed to be decorated as well. Lego obviously took my advice (and that of others) for each set has continued to improve in that department – Assembly Square, in my humble opinion, being the best design yet!
