Remember these dates are not the end of production dates but the dates when Lego will no longer sell them on their website. We all know Fire Brigade will most likely be sold out long before then….around Dec 2011 / Jan 2012.
Oh, and finally, if you’re collecting it, they tend to only come out with one a year, so that’s only 6 cents a day coming out of your wallet to stay up to date. (It’s a different story if you’re bent on getting missed sets of course, but you don’t need to. Get the stuff that is out now.)
I think the church would be to controversial due to the nature of religious groups feeling they may not be represented in a set, so I would assume they would not make a church building unless there were one for all of the major religions. also i think a museum would be a cool addition.
Hubby turning a major bday this year and grumbling about getting old. Very involved with the CG and the CG Aux so I decided to let his inner “Coastie” come out and play. He laughed, he swore and then laughed some more, and now can’t wait to take his new “boat” to the next CG Aux meeting!
The market for old toys on eBay is much bigger than just Lego. If you’ve got some old childhood clutter just gathering dust, here are 8 ways to tell if your old toys could be worth more then just memories while our guide to getting the most cash when selling old toys on eBay can be found here .
If you believe that by purchasing the non-retired sets would cause you to buy the retired sets, then you must have some disposable income, considering the retired sets are ranging between $400-$1000+.
A video game based on the theme called Lego Batman: The Videogame was announced in 2007, and released on 23 September 2008. Produced by TT Games, the game followed similar titles based upon Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones.
Would buy again, and recommend for Lego lovers. Are they over-priced…. well, maybe. Legos are not cheap, and they have escalated the pricing a bit as the popularity increases… so some are not happy about that. Me? If I did not want to pay the price, then I would not buy them. One thing for sure, resale is good – that says a lot!!
Stafford considers the Galidor line to be Lego’s most heinous offense. Based on a kid’s show of the same name, the line was basically an action figure series with awkward features like interchangeable arms for characters. Each set in the line featured specialized pieces, which were expensive to produce and in practically no way resembled a Lego product.
As is the case with virtually every Lego set, your child will be limited only by his, or her, imagination and perseverance. Although the kit is designed for younger children graduating from Lego Duplos, you can be confident that your child will never actually grow out of the Ultimate Building Set. All of the pieces can be incorporated into future Lego collections.

It’s hard to say what the new piece for 2017 will be. Recently, modular sets for a Library and Natural History Museum were shot down on LegoIdeas.com. Maybe because Lego has it in mind to make those types of buildings next? Also on Lego Ideas, a train station received 10,000 votes and is in the review process (although if approved, that probably wouldn’t be available until 2018). I think a Police Station makes sense, but there is already a lot of police themed lego pieces in the Creator series (plus cops aren’t really getting too much love these days). I think a church is too divisive. If you’re going to include a religious building (and I don’t see Lego doing this), you’ll have to include a temple, mosque, etc. to be inclusive. I would personally like to see a post office, as many of the modular buildings have mailboxes built into them, and it would make sense to “connect” with that feature. Other thoughts, not on your list would be a restaurant row (maybe a side by side like the Pet Shop and Apartment Building) – one side a Japanese restaurant and the other a pizza place. Also, a Veterinary Hospital (although the Pet Shop covers the animal side of things) would be cool. Also, a Health Club/Gym, Dentist’s Office, Toy Store, Pharmacy, or Ice Cream Parlor are other ideas. I guess a Candy Shop wouldn’t make sense, if candy is “illegal” in the modular world (based on the Detective’s Office).
LEGO sets provide a terrifically challenging way to kill time. The challenges are endless, from the point of purchase to the finished product itself. Can you actually afford a big LEGO set? Can your patience handle the job of constructing it? Can you tell all the tiny bits apart? Can you resist a snooze on the sofa for long enough to finish the job? And, after all is said and done, can you find a spare inch of shelf space to proudly display the damn thing?
Lego is the best game to get for your kids and even you might enjoy it to. The quality surpasses many other games for kids, this one won’t break so fast (my other sets lasted me for many years). I also find it to be healthy for their brains because it teaches them to follow instructions and see what they can accomplish with patience.

OTHER INFLUENCES. I often browse what other people are building and sometimes it informs my process.  I make no secret of this.  Much like the ‘portaloo’ is lifted from a Lego set (Service Truck 60073-1) there are other elements of the build that have roots in other ideas.  The cement mixer used by the BRICKLAYER is from set 5610-1 (a small set from 2008 – now it has a home) I also came across some brilliant vignettes on LEGO IDEAS.
For Lego collectors seeking the best and most expensive Lego sets, this set is one to get your hands on. One customer wrote, “This is my favorite so far. It was great seeing this fully [built] and sitting majestically on the cabinet. My friend suggested it may need some lights. Next time I put it together I may try adding a few light bricks inside so there will be a bit of a glow from it.” He may be referencing the fact that the Taj Mahal takes on different hues according to the time of the day; a pinkish color in the morning, a milk white in the evening, and a golden color at night.
Palace Cinema (set number 10232) was released in March 2013 at a MSRP of US$149/139€. It is the eighth set in the Modular Building line and the third corner building. The set contains 2194 pieces and features architectural homage to the Egyptian Revival architecture of the early 20th Century, albeit with Chinese-like cultural appropriations similar to Hollywood’s Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. As such it also features Hollywood Walk of Fame type printed star tiles for the outer sidewalk—LEGO elements that after retiring in 2017 re-emerged to decorate the walls in 2018’s Downtown Diner. Palace Cinema is the first Modular Building set to be released with the LEGO Creator Expert branding on its box and was the first to include stickers (opposed to all decorated elements being factory-printed). Some of these are movie posters containing LEGO “easter eggs” in-jokes such as the ubiquitous brick separator tool used to disassemble (Godzilla-like “The Brick Separator”), the time-consuming sorting of LEGO elements (“Forever Sorting”), and LEGO’s iconic 1990 red Airport Shuttle #6399 set (“Mystery On The Monorail”). Also, Palace Cinema was the first of the Modular Building sets to have only two floors (albeit with higher ceilings than the norm) instead of the usual three; and the second (of three Modulars as of 2018) to include a vehicle: a black car styled loosely on a convertible Buick.

But I will agree that LEGO is in a different league as other collectibles… but I see all the hype of the new series of Minifigs… being cranked out by TLG by the zillions… and wonder… hmmmm will that bubble burst at some point?
So this was my first real “big boy” LEGO set. I plunked down $200 on LEGO. I didn’t even tell my wife how much this thing cost because I knew she’d look at me like I was crazy (but also love the set once built). I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
There have been scheduling challenges faced in the design of the Modular Houses sets. For the Green Grocer set, the designer believed that the set could have benefited from another design iteration before release. The detailed nature of these sets requires a greater amount of design time than a normal Lego set. It is expected that future sets in the series will not suffer from such schedule pressures.[10]
OMFGWAT? US$ 6400 for that set on Amazon? What is it made of? Carbonite? Well… apparently I’m not the only one that came up with this idea of building one of the MOST AWESOMEST FREIGHT CARGO SHIPS EVER, that happens to be discontinued. But there’s no way I’m going to pay that.
Surprising, almost two years since I originally write this post, Amazon.com still have sellers listing complete Harry Potter Lego sets. Some are still quite expensive, but others look more reasonable once you’ve done your research and seen the much more expensive and complicated options out there. There are little stocking stuffers like the bagged Harry Potter in the Lab figure that are reasonably affordable, and larger sets like some of the Hogwarts sets (beware, there are several that make up the complete castle) and others with many unique and iconic pieces (such as the Quidditch Match set) easily available.

I would not have called that. They have some really good designers and I would have thought they would have found a way around that, if it’s worth it. Just scale the Technic figures as well (I could think of a way to do that, just make them more modular, or simply make large/medium/small versions.), or only include them in larger models and make the larger models roughly to one scale.
