Although this set is relatively expensive for the number of pieces contained within (compared to the Lego average), the pieces tend to be larger ones, and the unique figures certainly justify the additional cost. This is a fantastic set for kids who want to re-enact the movie scene or are otherwise looking for a play-heavy set (the construction is durable and will hold up to enthusiastic play), or for Star Wars fans who want to build this set for display. If you’re going to get one current non-ship Star Wars set, this should be it. Recommended for everyone who loves Star Wars and Lego, especially if you can get this set at a discount.
When you have more than 50 sets, storage is a huge issue. Don’t be tempted to cobble together a solution. Start with strong shelving and new boxes to save lots of time and keep your sets looking good. Brook Johnson will show you how he stores his sets, shows you part of his Lego library, and tells you what is “retiring soon.”
Start at a reasonable price. In general LEGO buyers expect to pay between $4 and $7 per pound for loose used LEGO pieces including shipping. Clean lots with desirable pieces will often sell for even more. Start your auction at the low end of that range or below it. This will show your buyers you have done your homework and know what your lot is worth.
If this fails you can consider your own swap options. This may include using smaller pieces in the case of replacing a large brick or using a more modern window that looks very similar and will only be noticed by those who are intimate with the set. Finally, you may try changing the color. The option of changing the color is a big one. If you are considering doing it, you want to look at all the other elements in the set that share that color. For example, I had the option of using sand-blue instead of sand-green in the #10185 LEGO Modular Green Grocer. It would have definitely been cheaper in certain areas, but there were pieces made in sand-green that weren’t made in sand-blue, so it became a less attractive option. Keep in mind that a full replacement is not always necessary. A good builder can fit in color-swaps very subtly. You will ultimately need to be the judge of how complete or modified the end model needs to be.
“GT Mechanicmaniac” is the name of the G E N I O U S who created this LEGO MOC Technic VW Phaeton 6.0 W12 in scale 1-7. The video lasts almost 30 minutes, but if you really love Technic creations, if you really are a purist of this art, you’ll savor eagerly every detail of this monster. So…Enjoy!!! 😀
First, there’s the entrance area; it has a blast door that can be raised and braced into place (and also dropped with a satisfyingly heavy thud), and the door is guarded by a pair of guns that can be aimed. There’s lookout tower above the entrance that provides a little extra play area and storage racks for items. The main part of the build is Jabba’s throne room. It features a moving platform that Jabba sits on, that can be moved forward and backwards, revealing a hidden storage area beneath it, along with the trap door that would be used to drop someone into the rancor pit. There’s a rotating mount point for Han Solo’s carbonite prison (so you can “free” him by flipping the piece around), along with a fair amount of decorative interior detail that does a great job of replicating the scene from the movie. The roof completes the build, and has a flick-fire missile mounted on its top; the roof can be easily removed to facilitate easier play with the interior.

Understand that LEGO comes in such varying sizes that you really don’t know what you’ll be getting and how much.  It could be anywhere from 150 to 400 pieces in a pound, depending on the size.  Some folks say that you should buy them about $7 per pound including shipping.  I once bought 1,000 pieces at $20 and I was so incredibly disappointed.  Maybe I shouldn’t have been but with bricks, quantity does matter.  When you are buying used stuff, you want to feel like you got an awesome deal.

First understand this is one of the single largest Lego sets ever…like actually. I think it ranks 4th or 5th in terms of pieces. The instruction booklet that comes with it measures about 13 X 18 and is about as thick as a lengthy graphic novel.
Conclusion: If you can get it for MSRP of $34.99, it’s a buy. I wouldn’t suggest paying collectible prices, as LEGO will undoubtedly be producing more of these, and will probably create different Minecraft sets in the near future. At least I hope they do. I would love to add more modules to this set, and I’ll be interested to see tiny zombies, skeletons, and mob animals.

➡ LEGO SETS RETIRING SOON: There are several LEGO Star Wars sets that are getting retired to give room for the 2015 LEGO Star War sets. Some of the highlights include the #75018 LEGO Star Wars Jek-14’s Stealth Starfighter, the #75019 LEGO Star Wars AT-TE, the #75022 LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian Speeder, the #75039 LEGO Star Wars V-wing Starfighter, and the #9493 LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter. None of them are listed for sale, just that they are retiring soon. In my experience if and when sets like this do go on sale they disappear so fast you will likely miss them. So if you are interested in any of these sets I would suggest you get them now before they are gone. You can find them all at the Retiring Soon section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Please spend some time having a look at the products we have for sale. There are many themes including Lego Star Wars, Lego Technic, Lego Creator, Lego Friends and more. We are keen to ensure that our customers can find the product they are looking for. In the event that we do not have a product for sale or we have sold out please feel free to Contact Us detailing the product you are looking for. We will then do our best to source that product for you and provide you with some cheap Lego!
If you are buying new, you can still reflect on the weight- a little bit at least. LEGO is so marvelously cute that it’s kind of deceptive how expensive they are – especially if you are buying sets!  Pound for pound, magnetic toys like Magnatiles (many moms will say these are pricey) are usually cheaper than LEGO sets.  Boxes of just bricks are cheaper (by the pound) but only by a little.
My 8 year old son and I went to the Salvation Army two days ago. It was right around the corner from my doctors, so on a whim and looking for used skylanders figures we went. We found 6 gallon size ziplock baggies full to busting of legos! The best part was they were $1.99 each! I left my name and number and they said if they get any more in they’d give me a call. They also said to give other thrift stores a call, everyone knows what legos are and will look to see if they have any. (Saves a lot on gas)
