The following link will take you to a page with more information on prices we are paying and how to sell LEGO sets to us: Sell LEGO at Brian’s Toys. Or email buying@brianstoys.com or call (608)-687-7572 ext. 3 and discuss with Joe any questions you may have about selling LEGO to us.
You can also order individual bricks from Lego.com, but the wall in the store gets you a better price. Another option for bulk buying is to order on ebay or from sites like BrickLink. (I’ve not done the latter, so I can’t verify the success of that approach; please use caution in your purchases.)
We love Cheap Lego. Brick-a-brac-uk is a UK based e-commerce retailer specialising in discontinued, rare and exclusive lego products. We have been trading for over 3 years and try to provide the best Lego deals possible.
I also like to create a completely new Wanted List for each project and leave my default main Wanted List open for miscellaneous wants. Once the list is populated, you may want to take a moment to compare the list to the set’s inventory page. When I put together my Wanted List for the #10195 LEGO Modular Market Street, to my surprise, a few parts were left off because they had a MID (Matching Part ID). Turns out that in this instance the system did not know which part to add, so it did not add either. For who are confused, you are not alone. MID parts are parts that look and act exactly how you might need them in a set. There are small differences, but nothing that matters when it comes to the set you are working on. For example, a bus that uses white train windows can use the ones that have or don’t have shutter-holes. The parts look nearly identical except for this very minor difference. However, a set like the #10190 LEGO Modular Market Street uses shutters in the white train windows so only one type will work. Essentially, you need to make sure that the system did not leave off any parts. It is very annoying when you get around to building to find that you are missing a single part that is not terribly rare, but you just don’t have it.
Thanks to Sharon’s advice, years ago I bought the girls a large pink brick box on Christmas sale. The brick box contains starter pieces for building that can be combined in a number of ways. It doesn’t lock the child into building one particular thing, like the Shelob Attacks set that one of them had requested.
Also, when it is a line of products people who got into the game late will want to purchase the earlier models. If you just found out about Fire Brigade and Emporium, you looked into it and found out about Cafe Corner being an earlier set in the line, you’d might really want to get one.

If the sets have been used (pre-built) I would try Craigslist first to see if there is a local buyer. If you luck out you will have an end-buyer who just genuinely wants the sets you have for themselves and they are willing to pay a bit more for used sets, or you can sell them to a reseller for a bulk price. If you want top dollar you can list on eBay, but it will take up a lot of your time.
If find the challenges of putting together a set fun in itself. I’m currently putting together 10231 Space Shuttle Explorer, 10197 Fire Station, 8480 Technic Space Shuttle and 6395 Victory Raceway (which I desperately wanted, but never owned as a kid). I could easily buy them on eBay or elsewhere, but the challenge of this is far more interesting.
Crazy number of trains, multiple tracks, storage Thomas, roaring dinosaur ramps, bridges, train station, book box set, individual books (including one from library discontinued we bought second hand) and more. Son outgrown it now we are in LEGO phase! No time wasters this is a great collection.
So what do you think? Do you keep track and take advantage of LEGO sets that are getting retired or are on sale? Have you found some great deals? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉
I strongly suspected the SHIELD Helicarrier would be retiring soon, so recently picked that up (and was my weekend build project). Now I have the dilemma of deciding whether to pick up an additional TIE and convert it to an Interceptor…
This set has been sold out from Lego for some time now and has been discontinued so the price is only going to go up from here, so if you don’t have this one yet, this is your chance to get it before …
As one of the most iconic vehicles form the OG Star Wars movies, you have to have the AT-AT walker as part of your collection. My daughter is young, but already computer literate enough to search eBay for Harry Potter Lego Sets.  The prices for complete Harry Potter sets tends to be sky high (eBay prices are second only to the after-market prices on Amazon) — although you can find bargains if you pay attention. You might find a loose set (no box, most of the pieces) for 1/2 to 3/4 of the (after-market) price of the unopened box, but that’s still expensive (as they’re going for three times the retail price when in-stores) and slightly dodgy, as you don’t know for sure that all the pieces are there until you build the set.
I finally got a copy of this set so I can write an actual review. I find many reviews on Amazon are negative because of item availability and aftermarket pricing. So here is an actual review of the set, not the market. Please see the customer image gallery for my build uploads.
Two last two sets retiring soon are the #10218 LEGO Creator Pet Shop and the #10234 LEGO Creator Sydney Opera House. The LEGO Creator Pet Shop has been the longest standing LEGO Modular Buildings, first released back in 2011. It is the only building in the series that has a split footprint, making it extremely versatile. Even if you already have one, I would recommend getting another, just in case you ever need it in your layout. Half of the building is a generic apartment, while the pet shop side can easily be converted into other stores to create more variety. And the LEGO Creator Sydney Opera House is a beautiful and accurate display piece. You can find both sets under the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Force Friday II is right around the corner, and with it will come a barrage of new Star Wars merch to hype us up for The Last Jedi. We don’t really need to be hyped up for the next film in the Star Wars saga, but if there has been one thing synonymous with the franchise it’s merchandising.

This is a really R E M A R K A B L E Lego creation! You can’t miss this bus to Billund! 😀 Epic door opening mechanism and many other interesting features are visible in this Lego Technic motorized model. “Hallbricks” spent almost one year building it… If you wish you can support this project on Lego Ideas. Enjoy!!! 😀
These two websites are going to make your life a lot easier while buying pieces, just matching the stores that sell the pieces you still need, and will automatically remove them from your wishlist as you buy them.
Relive the ultimate betrayal in Cloud City with this rare LEGO Star Wars set. Lando is ready to turn our heroes over to the dark side! Don’t worry, when you build it, you can make the story go however you please. This 698 piece set will leave you frozen in disbelief (thankfully not in Carbonite!) at how cool it is. Get your hands on this set before Boba Fett does!

Sorry, you’re gonna have to shell out more cash to really make the most of your model. Get these: 4-6 more Stormtroopers, more imperial officers, an extra Luke and Han in ST disguise, an extra Leia and Darth Vader, and a few others that you like. I added about a dozen more. Be careful that you get minis that match the style of 10188.
Nice! Yeah, I have seen several people do that mirror image setup. The Pet Shop is such an incredibly versatile set. It is one of the reasons it stayed around for so long. Another is that both are good looking, but simple buildings, so they nicely fit in anywhere, and also easy to customize. The Pet Shop can be turned into any other shop with just some simple modifications. And the apartment side can be furnished in so many ways. Great set all in all. I’m glad you were able to get a second one. 🙂
