“bionicle generations +lego sets with”

Updated January 19, 2016 With set 10236 currently temporarily out of stock on LEGO’s North American website until January 2016, some are wondering if we will see LEGO Ewok Village retirement soon. The Ewok Village will be two years old… Continue Reading →
Below is a list of LEGO sets that are at risk of retiring soon in and around the 2018 calendar year. It is organized into sets that are at a high risk of retiring soon, medium risk, and low risk. Note that LEGO retirement dates are not an exact science and all sets that have been available for sufficiently long can be discontinued at any time, with no notice. Let us know your thoughts and leave a comment below.
“As with any sort of collectible, the safe storage of the collectible is very important,” Ed Mack explains in a piece on How to make money from Lego . “Although the actual Lego brick is pretty much indestructible under normal conditions, the Lego boxes and instructions need special care.”
While you’ll get the same kind of mixed bag at the online Goodwill Store, I think there is a greater chance that you’ll likely get more pieces and here’s the kicker if you are lucky – if you buy it from a location near you, you can just PICK IT UP and NOT PAY FOR SHIPPING those 15+ pounds of LEGO bricks (Sometimes shipping is $20-$30 UGH!)
People also like to break up sets to sell the pieces individually on eBay, as they may make more money that way. The mini-figures are the most-valuable, some going for $40 each, even used! You might score a Harry Potter set for a (relative) song without any mini-figures, but your child might not be overjoyed, as the play value seems to depend on having the right beloved characters.

The UCS Sandcrawler was just released two years ago! I think that UCS sets should stay around for at least 4-5 years so people who don’t have $400 right away can save up. As for the others, I don’t have WALL-E yet, so I might need to act quickly (even though my brother has it). Thanks for the news!
For three years, my son has been asking for this Lego Set. My thought always was that it was way to expensive but I finally broke down this year after watching the price increase over the years. On Christmas morning, my son opened all of his presents and kept looking at the last box that was under the tree. It wasn’t big enough to be the Death Star that he wanted but I wouldn’t let him open it as “it was for later”.
The LEGO Education 779389 1,907-piece community starter set includes elements that children four years and older can use to design and build a community with houses, streets, cars, shops, a theme park, a zoo, and more, while developing imagination and cre more
You can also buy Lego Harry Potter mini-figures individually on eBay or BrickLink if those are what the kids are really in love with. While one Harry Potter figure might still set you back $15 plus shipping (at the cheap end), that’s a lot cheaper than buying a whole set. Again, figures tend to be more expensive on eBay due to the auction effect.
The Lego community needs a company to track theme and set popularity like They do for network tv. Then we could have a bubble watch for themes or sets that are hovering on the abyss of discontinuation. :o)
Things slowed down for 2001. In 2000 we got 19 sets, but in 2001 only 10 were released, two of which came from the Technic line, C-3PO (#8007) and Stromtrooper (#8008), and two USC sets, Darth Maul (#10018) and the Rebel Blockade Runner (#10019). Darth Maul, with 1,868 parts, was now the largest LEGO Star Wars set to have been released.
As one of the most spectacular LEGO Star Wars sets out there, the Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Flacon has 5195 pieces! Minifigs included are: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa! Han Solo’s famous smuggling starship never looked so good!
In the Fall 2017 catalog some sets have the term “Last Chance!” above the price. The description in the catalog’s legend says specifically that a product with that label will be retiring soon. A list of those sets are as follows:
My youngest child recently became a Lego fanatic (as am I). She was already enthralled by the Harry Potter books and movies, so the discovery that two of her favorite things were now combined (and just before Christmas, too) gave birth to a new obsession. Unfortunately, Lego stopped making Harry Potter Lego sets last year.
Minecraft is an online sandbox a virtual world where the essential play creative building with virtual cubes and its about learning skills and building craft tools and mining for gold and diamonds. The games is inspired by Infiniminer, Dwarf Fortress and Dungeon Keeper, created by Markus Persson, the founder of Mojang AB. The game involves players creating and destroying various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. The player takes an avatar that can destroy or create blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork across the various multiplayer servers in multiple game modes.
Jabba’s Sail Barge 6210 Jabba the Hutt, Luke Skywalker (skiff flesh), R2-D2 (with drinks tray), Princess Leia (slave flesh), Lando Calrissian (Guard), Han Solo (skiff flesh), Boba Fett, Gamorrean guard (brown arms) 2010 781
I can’t believe I bought this thing. The buyer’s remorse was instant. I’m 34 years old and bought a Lego Death Star. Is this what my life has come to? Spending hard earned paycheck dollars on plastic bricks? Whatever, dude! This is the BEST. TOY. EVERRRRR!!! I put it in my kitchen as a decoration. I like to crush the **** out of Lego Luke in the Lego trash compactor. Take that, maturity!
This blocky recreation of the intimidating Imperial craft clocks in at over 3,000 pieces, providing the level of scale necessary for the iconic triangular battleship. Lego fan-site The Brothers Brick note that the minifigure-free, mammoth vessel is “frequently used as a scale reference for very large Lego fan creations”.
There are some other odds and ends, but these are pretty much the largest and most interesting sets that are getting retired and are now on sale. Please note that sale items usually move very quickly, so if you want to grab them before they are gone, I would suggest you do so by the end of the week. It is also a good idea to check the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop at least once a month to see if anything new is added.
Death Star 10188 Luke Skywalker (Stormtrooper), Luke Skywalker (long hair), Luke Skywalker (Jedi with black hand), Han Solo (Stormtrooper), Han Solo (flesh with brown legs), Chewbacca, Death Star Trooper (two), Darth Vader (new torso), Princess Leia (flesh), Stormtrooper (two), Ben Kenobi (hooded), Emperor Palpatine (new torso) C-3PO (pearl gold), R2-D2 (new head), R2-Q5 (new head), Grand Moff Tarkin, Emperor’s Royal Guard (two), Assassin Droid, MSE-6, Interrogation Droid, Imperial Protocol Droid, Dianoga 2008 3,803
There are venues to sell LEGO – Craigslist, eBay, BrickLink or even running a garage-sale are some of them. However if you don’t have the time to do the selling yourself, you can take advantage of the services of Brian Semling, owner of Brian’s Toys. Here is what Brian wanted to let our readers know about what he can offer to LEGO fans who desire to sell:
Megan, thanks for sharing! Yes, postage fees can really add up if you don’t manage your wanted list right. Good suggestion about buying parts for several projects at the same time. Have fun with piecing together those awesome sets! 🙂
I think you will find it doesn’t change too much. It’s a single outlier in the data set, and likely counter-balanced by two other outliers in Obi Wan’s Jedi Starfighter and the UCS B-Wing, which both had shorter than usual lifespans.
Holding the record for the biggest LEGO Star Wars model ever made at 5,195 pieces, this space-style Lego set has earned its place in the hearts of all Star Wars and Lego fans around the world. Also included with this set are 5 iconic Star Wars Lego figurines: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Start a High Speed Chase through the streets of LEGO City when the burglar escapes in his super fast sports car! He won’t get far with the stolen cash when Chase McCain is on duty! Chase him with the Elite Police vehicle and Elite Police motorcycle!… more
Darth Vader’s personal flagship and the Imperial command centre in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the Super Star Destroyer is quite the spectacle in Lego form. The hilariously diddy Star Destroyer that comes in the box shows off how grandiose this gargantuan, 3,152-piece ship really is.
This a great article that I’m bookmarking. I suddenly wished I had gotten the Town Hall modular and found the current going price rather ghastly. I’m gonna have to use these suggestions to see if it’s more affordable to just part it together, even if it ends up in a different main color than the original. Thanks!
That’s a really good suggestion about working with problem parts, especially with large sets like the modulars. Thanks for sharing! And yes, the Marina Bay Sends set is a very nice build with interesting techniques, so are many of the other LEGO Architecture sets. 🙂
Why would LEGO discontinue sets that are still insanely popular? Example being the UCS Millenium Falcon. It would obviously still sell, look at the prices it is commanding online now. Seems to me LEGO is giving up profits. I know some people buy sets hoping the price will rise, and that is all well and good, but some of us just really enjoy assembling, displaying and looking at our collections. I am like a few others in here that have an entire room devoted to LEGO. I have sets I could sell but honestly I probably never will. I find myself alot just sitting there looking around at my sets and honestly it really relaxes me. Same with building. I am married and have 5 daughters…..yes….DAUGHTERS and when I am building I can just focus on that and ignore the chaos around me. It is very theraputic. Anyways, I got a little side tracked, as far as my original question does anyone know why LEGO would intentionally stop the most popular sets, and what are your opinions about this? Also, and I know no one can know for sure, but what do you think the chances are that they would ever re-release the UCS sets?
Dry the bricks. Optionally, spin the bricks in a salad spinner to remove some of the water. Next, place the wet bricks in a single layer on a towel, right-side up so water drains from the underside. To speed up the drying process, leave a fan on blowing over the bricks.
