“best value lego sets 2016 |discontinued lego technic”

The sets are still going to hang around until they’re out of stock, but once they’re gone that’s it. One thing this might help is the collectability of the sets after their shelf life runs out. There are some really cool Rogue One sets out there, but not everyone is going to get their hands on them.
Only photographing your pieces in a box or plastic bag – You can include a photo that shows the pieces in a container or shipping box to give an idea of the quantity, but spreading them out so more pieces can be seen will add value.
as someone who got the rebel combat frigate, it isn’t that interesting of a build and would probably only appeal to die hard star wars/star wars rebels fans. the Asoka and Cmdr. Sato minifigures are unique to this set, but it’s also a $110 dollar set.

Yes thats actually what happened to me, I recovered an old catalog from 2007, flipped through it, and found the Cafe Corner. My eyes widened as I drooled over the set (its price was listed as $130.) I couldnt find it on legoshop.com, so I looked on eBay and found one for $1040. I was then really disappointed, because I could never afford it at that price…
Released in this year, the Super Star Destroyer is a classic Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series set that boasts a whopping 3152 pieces! It includes a redesigned IG-88 and Dengar and a new minifigure, Admiral Piett, along with a Darth Vader minifigure. Weighing in at 8 pounds, this set will definitely be a gem in your LEGO Star Wars collection…but it will cost you, as it’s selling for $500 and up!
However, many of the sellers are overseas, so the shipping and exchange rates can kill any price savings versus eBay. For comparison terms, I’ve seen a popular set like The Burrow go for up to $250 on eBay and around $110 on Bricklink. You can filter your Bricklink search by country, which helps to find the best combination of price and shipping costs. [Note: prices may have changed since this blog was posted.]
But I did it for my kids.  Number 1 Son loves LEGOs.  So many children do but do parents and teachers love LEGO too?  Maybe, but how about buying LEGO?  I am not in love with shopping for LEGOs- it’s work!  For one, those sets make me crazy.  They are so expensive and after they fall apart (because no child will let you glue them), there are many pieces that are not open-ended enough to inspire more building.
Also, even if LEGO would allow international shipping, shipping fees would negate any savings you would get on a sale. International shipping fees can be enormous. Especially on sealed sets. I’m a BrickLink and eBay seller and after the most recent rate increases I simply had to stop selling internationally, as the fees are so crazy.
➡ LEGO ANGRY BIRDS SETS ON SALE: The entire LEGO Angry Birds line is on sale. While Angry Birds may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there are some interesting pieces in these sets you might like, so it’s worth checking them out just for the parts. You can find them under the LEGO Angry Birds section or under Sales and Deals at the Online LEGO Shop.
LEGO City Mining 4×4 set 4200 in good condition. Complete set with no missing pieces. Includes instructions (no box). This is a retired set. Check out my other ads for more stuff. Please email, call …
Nice! Yeah, I have seen several people do that mirror image setup. The Pet Shop is such an incredibly versatile set. It is one of the reasons it stayed around for so long. Another is that both are good looking, but simple buildings, so they nicely fit in anywhere, and also easy to customize. The Pet Shop can be turned into any other shop with just some simple modifications. And the apartment side can be furnished in so many ways. Great set all in all. I’m glad you were able to get a second one. 🙂
^^ Since Lego did tell us, which sets are going to retire “soon”, it seems they want to sell us their left over stock as fast as possible, creating an extra demand while still having lots of boxes. And with the last box sold, the set is retired. So there is no “date”, I guess. It had been the same with the Exo-Suit.
My 8 year old son and I went to Salvation Army two days ago. It was right around the corner from my doctors, so on a whim and looking for used skylanders figures we went. We found 6 gallon size ziplock baggies full to busting of legos! The best part was they were $1.99 each! I left my name and number and they said if they get any more in they’d give me a call. They also said to give other thrift stores a call, everyone knows what legos are and will look to see if they have any. (Saves a lot on gas)
Lego Star Wars Resistance Retiring Soon The Lego Star Wars series is getting upgraded day by day with the addition of new and advanced models. We all have seen how Poe flies on a rescue mission to save Lor San Tekka’s house from the Flame troopers. Now you can build your very own Resistance X-wing with …
Crazy number of trains, multiple tracks, storage Thomas, roaring dinosaur ramps, bridges, train station, book box set, individual books (including one from library discontinued we bought second hand) and more. Son outgrown it now we are in LEGO phase! No time wasters this is a great collection.
@ Genadi, as a Lego fan my entire life and now an AFOL (adult fan of Lego) I personally ask that you don’t support organizations from foreign countries that sell cheaper replicas of Lego sets like the ones in your aliexpress link. Lego is suing these companies like Lepin, which in my opinion is a horrible unethical company, for IP infringement. Since Chinese laws are different Lego will have a hard and expensive legal battle ahead of them. Yes they are cheaper and similar, but they are not Lego so the quality is not there and they are part of the reason for Lego’s higher price. Lego files many patents to protect itself and still you get organizations like these. Sorry to be a bummer on the good deal, but to me the big picture doesn’t justify the discount. Buy used Lego’s and recondition them. They will be like new. There are a few ways to do this on the Internet. Otherwise get them on clearance or at discount stores as noted. I hope this helps.
In addition to the rationale of logistical supply chain that people are mentioning for the discontinuation of sets, I thought I should point out that the collector’s market after a set is retired is skewing our perspective with respect to what the demand was while the set was in production.
If we’re going to talk about a collection of X-Wings, there isn’t any other set better that this one. The Red Five, Luke Skywalkers’ call sign during the Battle of Yavin (given to him due to the fact that the “old” Red Five dies during the Battle of Scarif in Rogue One). This ship is a thing of beauty.
Let’s face it, LEGO makes a lot of sets, and LEGO is expensive. LEGO also retires sets after a period of time. All of this means that we may not be able to afford everything we want when available, and by the time we are ready to buy, the set of our dreams could be out of production. Or you may learn about an old set just now, but it has been retired years ago. So what to do? This is what we will explore today. 🙂

A couple of tips I’ve picked up – watch postage fees! When putting together an order I make sure I keep the postage cost per part to a minimum. I start with the uncommon parts a seller has, then using the cheapest/common parts I need, bulk up the order so that the number of parts makes the postage per part tiny.
No, this is not a cop-out, especially when your Lego lover wants a $350 Ghostbuster set. Just saying! Instead make a contribution toward that maniac’s saving fund. You can gift it in a cute Lego money holder to keep with the theme.

➡ ONLINE LEGO SHOP RETIRING SOON: While the US version of the Online LEGO Shop hasn’t been updated yet with sets retiring soon, the UK version lists a number of large and exclusive sets that are scheduled to retire. This means that once the current stock is gone, LEGO will make no more of these sets. Four of the sets are from the LEGO Ideas line, which are limited release to begin with. The four sets are: #21108 LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1, #21302 LEGO Ideas The Big Bang Theory, #21303 LEGO Ideas WALL-E, and #21304 LEGO Ideas Doctor Who. None of these sets are on sale, but if you want one, it is best to get them now before they will disappear and prices on the secondary market go up. You can find them under the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.
