Value: I was happy to pay $34.99 for this set. For Minecraft fans, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. For Minecraft/LEGO fans, it’s simply a must-have. You get 408 pieces, which is about $0.085 per piece. For a licensed set, that’s actually below average. Of course, that’s probably because it relies so heavily on 1×1 tiles and plates. Still, you get eight 6×6 plates, quite a few bricks, and a brick separator. I thought the brick separator was a nice touch for separating all the tiny plates. There are only three exclusive pieces for the Steve and creeper heads. You get an extra Steve head, so if you add a red brick (or whatever color you want), you can make a second adventurer. To piece this set together on BrickLink dot com would cost about $50-$60.
Surprisingly, the sleek, AT-AT-toppling Snowspeeder is rarer than its space-based brethren the X-Wing Fighter. As one of the early entries in the sought-after Ultimate Collector Series, the Snowspeeder unfortunately doesn’t include a minifigure for Luke Skywalker’s short-lived co-pilot Dak Ralter. Poor Dak.
Brand new sealed, never got around to it so it’s up for sale. Camaro Drag Race set is actually discontinued and the average on eBay is anywhere from $72-100 posted – I just want my money back. Audi Set is sold. Price is not negotiable. Pick up at Woodcroft
That said, if you have the time and can split the box out by category (be it Star Wars, pirates, Medieval, Technic or whatever) these smaller – more specific – bundles will frequently sell for more than a job-lot of unsorted bricks.
We love Cheap Lego. Brick-a-brac-uk is a UK based e-commerce retailer specialising in discontinued, rare and exclusive lego products. We have been trading for over 3 years and try to provide the best Lego deals possible.
It’s free advice but make sure you do the math! You will hopefully have better luck than me because it is confusing!  Most sellers are pros but once in a while, you might get someone looking to unload a stash.  Be ready for that.
When I go to the US retiring page, all I get are bionicle sets and stuff, none of the items listed here. Then I click on the link in this article to the UK retiring page and these sets are listed there. What is going on? Is this why I never learned the Town Hall was retiring a couple years ago?
Probably a silly question, but can’t Judith buy from the US site? I’ve often wondered. I grew up in Germany and England, so the regional sets would interest me. A central site offering all sets to everyone would be nice.
Recreate the action and adventure of the Star Wars movies with the ultimate Death Star playset! This amazingly detailed battle station features an incredible array of minifigure-scale scenes, moving parts, characters and accessories from Episodes IV and VI on its multiple decks, including the Death Star control room, rotating turbolaser turrets, hangar bay with TIE Advanced starfighter, tractor beam controls, Emperor’s throne room, detention block, firing laser cannon, Imperial conference chamber, droid maintenance facility, and the powerful Death Star superlaser…plus much more! Swing across the chasm with Luke and Leia, face danger in the crushing trash compactor, and duel with Darth Vader for the fate of the galaxy!
The rarer a set, the more money it’s worth. But Lego can do another run whenever it feels like it. The new Cinderella Castle, which was released last month, is a good example. It’s a 4,000-piece set, based on the Disney Resort castle. It has all the makings of a great investment: big set, never before released, and inspired by a behemoth brand—Disney. “It’s a $350 set that may hit $1,000 in a few months because every little girl in the world is going to want to build Cinderella’s castle,” he says. “On the flip side, Lego may keep making them for 10 years.” No one ever knows what Lego is thinking, so you need to be comfortable with your investment.
Rescue Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt’s desert palace! At Jabba’s Palace on Tatooine, Princess Leia is disguised as Boushh as she tries to rescue Chewbacca and carbonite-frozen Han Solo. Can she get past the roof-mounted missiles, defense guns and surveillance equipment to reach them? Or will Jabba and his motley band of followers capture the princess and entrap her beneath Jabba’s sliding throne? Includes 9 minifigures: Jabba, Salacious Crumb, Bib Fortuna, Gamorrean Guard, Oola, Han Solo, Princess Leia in Boushh outfit, Chewbacca and B’omarr Monk.
I can give you some info. If you want a specific set check it weekly at the Lego store. It will get a retiring soon tag (not sold out or hard to get tags those are different). Past that check fan sites like this one, but don’t take anything said on them as the final truth.
About the previous post I made.  You did mention that the Star Destroyer you typed about was the 6211 set, but that’s the small set, the picture you have is of the big star destroyer, which is an Ultimate Collector Series set.  That’s the over 3,000 piece set.  So I guess right description, just wrong picture.   =D
So, if a lot of the elements are still being produced for other sets, that’ll bring down the cost. similarly, if there aren’t many new products for a given year (new SKUs), it’ll increase the likelihood of an older product sticking around (LEGO has a limited number of SKUs available every year– effectively the barcodes for items).

Decide how much you are willing to spend on each lot.  If the lot includes minifigs, estimate the figures at $1 each (general minifigs resell for approximately $3).  If the lot includes castle minifigs or Star Wars minifigs, figure the price higher.  Calculate the rest of the Legos at about $8 to $10 per pound.  If it includes Star Wars or Castle specialty pieces, the price will be higher.  Just look at other auctions that are about to end and you’ll see what the going price is.
I think you will find it doesn’t change too much. It’s a single outlier in the data set, and likely counter-balanced by two other outliers in Obi Wan’s Jedi Starfighter and the UCS B-Wing, which both had shorter than usual lifespans.

Also included is set # 6210 Jabba’s Sail Barge. This set is mostly complete, missing all the mini figs except Jabba and missing one piece from the skiff (the light grey control panel) but I substituted another piece.
The Sales and Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop was recently updated with some interesting surprises. In addition, the Online LEGO Shop in the UK listed all the large sets that will be retiring soon, which is also interesting to see. Below we will take a look at both lists and see what is worth to buy before getting retired, and before the Double VIP Points period expires in a few days. So let’s begin. 🙂
New for 2018, Lego 75200 Ahch-To Island Training. Will it be an invigorating shot for Lego Star Wars sets or just another poor performer. Brook will look back at the patterns from the the Force Awakens Lego sets and to see what the future holds.
Luke’s Landspeeder (75173):  There’s a lot to love here with the classic landspeeder build which also includes three classic minifigurines: Luke, C3PO, and Obi-Wan (or Ben, if you prefer) Kenobi. The Tusken Raider also looks fantastic.
I think you’d find that because of specilist parts that are in the UCS models, that as has been said before, require special molds, it wouldn’t be worth carrying on production. They need to modernise after all. So if something’s new then sacrifice something old for it surely ? 🙂
I like the set because it’s modular and can be quickly rebuilt to make your own scenes. I also like the flat 1×1 plates – but there sure are a lot of them. As far as set weights go, this is pretty light. Lots of tiny pieces could pose an issue for younger builders. I built my first set in an hour, and my second in 45 minutes, but I could see build times easily doubling mine depending on age. Kids obviously love it, and for parents it can be frustrating to see your kids want something that doesn’t maximize pieces/dollar/gram ratios, but there’s a good econ lesson in there. Especially if you can work something in about scalpers and aftermarket pricing. A note on that – don’t pay their ludicrous prices. Keep an eye out and you can snag this set fairly easily. SlickDeals always has a thread posted when this set is in stock.

Just thought I would note something though… if you really thought that the set was that great of an investment, you would have bought it earlier…right? (Or unless you are like me and can’t afford to hold onto sets too long.   )
