“lego mata -popular lego sets”

As I mentioned above, there is some software available to make the BrickLink shopping experience more automatic, but I personally like shopping without the aid of a program that will do everything for me. Sure I might not be getting the very best price, but I can support some of my BrickLink favorite sellers. At any rate, I like to start any project by pulling up some of the rarest, most expensive parts I need to purchase. I do this by selecting those pieces individually and finding the cheapest prices on BrickLink for them.
So now that we’re at the stage where we have a budget and we are convinced that this is a good idea that won’t break the bank, it’s time to get organized. For this I recommend using some of the tools on BrickLink. You can part out the set into a wanted list by clicking the Part Out link on the set’s page. Here we can choose various options like do we want minifigures listed as fully assembled, do we want to be notified when new items get listed, do we want boxes and instruction-manuals in our list, etc. I also like to make the minimum quantity wanted the same as what is on the list. That way I know how much is needed without having to look up the set every time.
My 8 year old son and I went to the Salvation Army two days ago. It was right around the corner from my doctors, so on a whim and looking for used skylanders figures we went. We found 6 gallon size ziplock baggies full to busting of legos! The best part was they were $1.99 each! I left my name and number and they said if they get any more in they’d give me a call. They also said to give other thrift stores a call, everyone knows what legos are and will look to see if they have any. (Saves a lot on gas)
Castle Lego. Need I say more? This is a good set of Lego that I purchased as a gift. The young boy that I purchased this for seems to really enjoy the set. They are standard, high quality construction. This differs from the castle Lego set I had as a child. It appears that the company has made many improvements both in functionality and aesthetics. The castle still opens in the rear to create a long walled structure. This newer castle includes a secret escape, better draw bridge and portcullis. They have taken the original and improved it.
As much I’d like those three there are several other Direct To Consumer (D2C) sets that are higher on my list, therefore all three of them are a pass. If I was to chose one it would be 75059 – Sandcrawler.
As for how we judge sets ourselves, we tend to break it down into two categories:  the build and the components.  We’re like any other Lego enthusiast, we love the build.  It needs to be challenging and engaging, not something that can be pieced together without instructions.  It doesn’t necessarily have to be a huge set, there is often a lot of fun to be had in smaller sets, but the build needs to grab our attention.  Most of those on our list up being on the longer side for builds, as it’s the nature of the build that sets with more detailed builds will end up more engaging for us.
Includes 3 minifigures: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jango Fett and young Boba Fett with mini legs, plus an R4-P17 Astromech droid figure. Features Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter and a buildable hyperdrive. Jedi Starfighter features an opening minifigure cockpit, space for the R4-P17 Astromech droid top section (with storage space for the torso inside the ship) and 2 stud shooters. Hyperdrive features 2 spring-loaded shooters, big engines and a quick-release grab handle for enhanced play.
They even manage to maintain some minor level of screen accuracy (to reason of course). Many recall the scene from Star Wars (Ep. IV 1977) where Luke, Chewy and Han spring Leia from her prison cell aboard the Death Star then flee into the garbage chute, only to face the Dianoga and imminently collapsing walls of the compactor. You can recreate this scene exactly. And I recently discovered you can even throw the minifigures into the garbage chute and they will land in the garbage compactor. There is also a lever that then allows you to collapse the walls. There are even little bits of garbage and the dreaded Dianoga included.
Aye, Lego mateys! When it comes to purchasing this amazing ship, Lego collectors and pirate lovers are ready to ‘walk the plank’ and dive in. Released in 1993, this set includes a large three-masted pirate ship, nine pirate figurines, a rowboat, a shark, and much more. This ship is armed with four cannons that are mounted on turntables that slide from port to starboard. Included on either side of the poop deck are two smaller non-functional cannons.

I think you will find it doesn’t change too much. It’s a single outlier in the data set, and likely counter-balanced by two other outliers in Obi Wan’s Jedi Starfighter and the UCS B-Wing, which both had shorter than usual lifespans.
Lego, like any company, has to periodically thin their line in order to make room for new sets. Production of parts can only occur at a particular rate and if too many sets are in production, they can’t meet the production of them all. Additionally, there’s only so much life that molds have and some sets which use unique molds are not likely to be continued beyond the lifespan of the mold. Once it breaks, they have to weigh the time and cost of replacing them to the time and money they will spend doing so as opposed to the money that could be made making a new mold for a new set altogether.

If you want to get rid of them fast, I would really suggest Craiglist first and be willing to take less. Preparing, listing, and selling items on eBay is a lot of work. If you have the time though, you can pace yourself and list 2-5 items per month. It may take you a year to sell everything, but you will get the best return. So it just depends. 🙂
My Uncle Pat, about 12 years my senior, gave me his original Lego set. (He regrets that now. Imagine what THAT would go for on eBay!) I think we only had a handful of colors, too, but those little plastic bricks provided hours of creative entertainment.
First, there’s the entrance area; it has a blast door that can be raised and braced into place (and also dropped with a satisfyingly heavy thud), and the door is guarded by a pair of guns that can be aimed. There’s a lookout tower above the entrance that provides a little extra play area and storage racks for items. The main part of the build is Jabba’s throne room. It features a moving platform that Jabba sits on, that can be moved forward and backwards, revealing a hidden storage area beneath it, along with the trap door that would be used to drop someone into the rancor pit. There’s a rotating mount point for Han Solo’s carbonite prison (so you can “free” him by flipping the piece around), along with a fair amount of decorative interior detail that does a great job of replicating the scene from the movie. The roof completes the build, and has a flick-fire missile mounted on its top; the roof can be easily removed to facilitate easier play with the interior.

If find the challenges of putting together a set fun in itself. I’m currently putting together 10231 Space Shuttle Explorer, 10197 Fire Station, 8480 Technic Space Shuttle and 6395 Victory Raceway (which I desperately wanted, but never owned as a kid). I could easily buy them on eBay or elsewhere, but the challenge of this is far more interesting.

If they re-release sets that gained worth, that won’t do them a favor i think. Some sets i only bought because i hope they gain worth. If they start re-releasing everything good, i won’t do that anymore.
When you have more than 50 sets, storage is a huge issue. Don’t be tempted to cobble together a solution. Start with strong shelving and new boxes to save lots of time and keep your sets looking good. I was checking out the online LEGO shop today and noticed several sets that were marked retiring soon and was quite surprised. Specifically the Rebel Combat Frigate and Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum which both came out in August 2016.
There may also be slight colour variation due to camera and monitor settings, and I hope you can understand. children should be warning in adult care use. do not put toys, thrown each other. small parts do not eat, lest produce risk events.

My kid is selling this bridge to me.  Not giving, selling. I’ve created an Entrepe-Monster.  Who started this? Me, but I had help. Check out Megan Rothrock’s The LEGO Adventure book in the background. Just one look at this bridge and he made his own.
However, what really bugs me are these sets. That is why it can be challenged as an educational toy because I’ve seen kids just build and not build some more. While I admire the themes and are just as wowed as you are when your child builds a complex set, I can’t help but think that we are not getting as much as we should be getting from LEGO.  I really wish it was more about the plain bricks. Did you happen to see Fat Brain Toys blog post showing nostalgic LEGO ads. I loved it!

I completely understand your point Rabbit, and your right, I do like that sets hold their value, and even increase over time. Being an adult and having extra money affords me the benefit of buying more than most. As a collector though, and having no intention of ever selling, I could care less if everyone had every set. I do it to relax and enjoy, not for profit. Again, I am not knocking those that do it for profit but there are many sides to every discussion. So to sum up, for me I wouldnt mind sets being more readily available.
Also included are three blue and gray lion soldiers. One is equipped with a longbow, a quiver, and a helmet. Another is equipped with a helmet and a crossbow. The last has a chest plate, a large shield, a sword, and a helmet with a visor (introduced in LEGO Kingdoms Escape From Dragon’s Prison 7187).
This set has quite a few play features, lots of minifigures, a horse and a catapult. This set is straight forward to put together; younger children shouldn’t have too much of a problem with it with a little help from older siblings or a parent. Mark had reluctantly agreed to go to the flea market with his wife, as he hated the miles of walking and browsing through junk that he did not want did not thrill him. As they strolled along, a box sat in the corner caught Mark’s eye, and then he saw a rare Lego Mr. Gold figure. Quickly hustling into the stall, he grasped the figure in his hands and offered the vendor 50 cents for it. The vendor agreed and sold the rare Lego minifigure to Mark. Returning home, Mark was fascinated with his find, but still not thrilled with the miles of walking. Then, he had an idea. Instead of going to flea markets in hopes of finding Legos to add to his collection, he could search on eBay. When he did, he found many reliable sellers offering rare Lego minifigures, pieces, and bricks with convenient shipping options. The best news was that he did not have to walk miles to find rare Lego sets and figures.
Rather than rehash how awesome the model is. Let me give you a few ideas and notes from my TWO experiences building the Death Star. Yup, I built one that didn’t survive a home move – so, I’ve just rebuilt it.

If you ever want to feel like you bought a whole bunch of new LEGOs but you have no money, then just start sorting your current stash.  Do it when your kid is NOT HOME.  Why?  Like a puppy, he will hang around you trying to grab and start building and this will mess you up and you’ll snap at him.  Counterproductive.  Make it a surprise – I thought of you today- gift! 2017 is quickly coming to an end and to make way for some of the upcoming LEGO Ideas sets including Ship In A Bottle: The Flagship Leviathan, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, and Tron Legacy Light Cycle, LEGO will soon be retiring some of the current ones that are still on store shelves. LEGO didn’t mention when they would be retired but it’s possible that it could be by the end of this year or early next year.

You can also buy individual Lego pieces direct from the Lego.com. The selection is much less complete than Bricklink, but you can buy in bulk whereas sellers on Bricklink often have only one or two of each brick. You will not find specific Harry Potter mini-figures or “Hogwarts” pieces there, but you should be able to find many of the pieces you need to complete Harry Potter sets, and in the correct colors. The same might be the case if you live close to a Lego store (we don’t, so I can’t pop in and see what they have). Shipping from the Lego online store tends to be more expensive than BrickLink, so if you are only looking for a few parts bear that in mind. I got bulk quantities of windows, tan bricks, doors, and other various parts that look like they belong in the Hogwarts castle, and the shiping is much more reasonable once you’re ordering a larger amount of bricks. They often have special offers or free gifts with purchase, so you can find great value or get some exclusive bricks by ordering direct.
Creator sets are made primarily out of general-use bricks and come with instructions for multiple builds. This is closer to how Lego was when I was a child, and it encourages kids to rebuild the structures either as the other designs or their own. The Creator sets, however, use more ingenious building techniques than what Lego offered decades ago. These are really marvels of miniature design. Set 31010 has many good bricks including plates, angled pieces (many in brown, a more useful color than you might think), and four windows.
Any Lego Star Wars set that is still readily available, i.e. not retired, in 2017 could qualify for our list.  That is a pretty broad list and we did consider quite a few, but there are some other ways we narrowed it down.  There are a couple of dozen sets which are little than a minifigure and a small ship or another accessory.  If one of these blew us away, we would consider it, but given the wealth of options available, that didn’t happen.
I think the MechDragon went on sale after I wrote this article. As I mentioned; this time of the year it is a good idea to check both lists frequently as new items get added regularly. As far as the Detective Agency, yeah, it is too awesome! And I love the story about the cookies! 😛
Value: I was happy to pay $34.99 for this set. For Minecraft fans, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. For Minecraft/LEGO fans, it’s simply a must-have. You get 408 pieces, which is about $0.085 per piece. For a licensed set, that’s actually below average. Of course, that’s probably because it relies so heavily on 1×1 tiles and plates. Still, you get eight 6×6 plates, quite a few bricks, and a brick separator. I thought the brick separator was a nice touch for separating all the tiny plates. There are only three exclusive pieces for the Steve and creeper heads. You get an extra Steve head, so if you add a red brick (or whatever color you want), you can make a second adventurer. To piece this set together on BrickLink dot com would cost about $50-$60.
I’m selling a few retired Lego Star Wars sets. Condition and other details to follow. Lego SW Battle of Endor – $160, includes box, mini figures and book. ***SOLD*** Lego SW 9516 – Jabba’s Palace – $140. Includes minifigs and instructions, but no box. ***SOLD***
A note on aftermarket sales: This set is incredibly popular. I imagine that LEGO was surprised by the demand. The aftermarket prices have come down to ~$60, which is still way to high. But that is how a collector’s market works. Lots of people on here are rating the set low because they paid 2-3 times retail for it, which is the buyer’s fault as much as the seller’s. Many people are also upset with the behavior of sellers who list these sets at high prices, which seems really weird to me. It seems like buyers who are willing to pay those prices should be happy for the fact that the sets are available at all. Buyers that pay that much and then get bent out of shape about it need to look to themselves. Prices go up on collectibles like this because enough buyers are willing to pay for it, simple supply and demand. If you or your kid is wanting this set, just sit tight. There will be more available at retail price soon. If not, just get some LEGO bricks in Minecraft colors and make your own. You’ll be a lot happier.

Legos in a complete set, who knew?. We had Legos as kids back in the ’60s & 70s. We would buy the blocks in very small sets as our allowance would slowly accumulate. My younger brother over time made some absolutely incredible creations using a mishmash of block sizes and styles. We would have wet our pants with happiness to receive an integrated SET. And this one is fantastic, especially being a Star Wars fan, having seen the original Star Wars movie in college over and over again…. Well worth the cost, and glad I have this set!!

We started getting ready for our day and I told him now he could open the last gift under the tree. He opened it up and it was a Lego sorting box. He was thankful, but when I told him, “I thought you’re going to need it for this.” and I brought the BIG box out of the other room. He was speechless! One of those priceless moments!
As you can see, there are lots of sets on sale right now to clear out older stock. What do you think? Are you finding some interesting sets on sale that you would like to build? Similar to Ebates, I use Upromise.com to get a bit of a price discount. If you can’t find a sale, I’ve used lego.com via Upromise and found that a) they have really excellent customer service and b) you can build up “lego points” to get a discount on a future purchase.
The UCS Sandcrawler was just released two years ago! I think that UCS sets should stay around for at least 4-5 years so people who don’t have $400 right away can save up. As for the others, I don’t have WALL-E yet, so I might need to act quickly (even though my brother has it). Thanks for the news!

First understand this is one of the single largest Lego sets ever…like actually. I think it ranks 4th or 5th in terms of pieces. The instruction booklet that comes with it measures about 13 X 18 and is about as thick as a lengthy graphic novel.
As a fan, however, it’s very difficult to tell how well a LEGO set sells for the company. Just because the aftermarket cost is high doesn’t necessarily mean that there are a LOT of people still demanding a set for the MSRP.
One way to find value for money on eBay is to buy loose lots of bulk Lego. Zoom in on the photos on eBay to see if there are any pieces/sets/figures you can recognize, and be prepared to bid $10 a pound (or more) for the lot. (Non-Harry Potter Lego tends to go for around $5 a pound.) Sometimes, you might notice most of a set or several great figures amid a sea of random Legos. The question is, whether your child would want the bulk parts to build things from their imagination or only be interested in the exact sets with instructions. If you were so inclined, you could buy the large lots, remove the parts/mini-figure you really wanted and resell the rest on eBay. That’s rather time-consuming. (Although to be fair, searching eBay and the internet at large for discontinued Harry Potter Lego sets is a time-consuming process, if you want to find value for money.)
➡ #60098 LEGO CITY HEAVY-HAUL TRAIN: This set includes everything you need for a motorized LEGO train system; a heavy-haul train with 8-channel, 7-speed infrared remote control, hopper wagon, 2 flatbed wagons, helicopter, backhoe and a crane, plus 16 curved tracks, 12 straight tracks, and five minifigures. LEGO trains with a full package of LEGO Power Functions elements and the tracks are rare, and are always a great value, especially when they occasionally go on sale. Please note that this set is also marked as retiring soon. Regular Price: $199.99 – Sale price: $159.99 – BUY HERE
We are a company of Lego enthusiasts whose aim is to sell discontinued Lego products for the cheapest price that is possible. We often have some of the best Lego deals in the UK, especially on rare and hard to find sets. As we are collectors and huge fans of Lego ourselves, we are different to the large retailers who sell a variety of products. We have a passion for keeping our products in great condition and will never send out products that are not suitable to give as presents. We have been collecting Lego for many years now and our collection consists of the entire Lego Architecture range, VW Beetle, VW Camper, a couple of Ferrari’s, (Lego ones, not real ones), loads of Minifigures and much, much more.
Luke’s Landspeeder (75173):  There’s a lot to love here with the classic landspeeder build which also includes three classic minifigurines: Luke, C3PO, and Obi-Wan (or Ben, if you prefer) Kenobi. The Tusken Raider also looks fantastic.
Sometimes you may run into the issue with a piece that is just not convenient to get. Or it is possible that facing $3 per piece is bit hard to swallow. Thankfully there are a number of work-around solutions to problems like these. The first is finding if there is a part with a Matching ID (MID). If you go to the parts inventory of the set on BrickLink, parts with a MID have a mark in a column to the far right. This means that if you go to the very bottom of the inventory you can find parts that are slightly different (like they have hollow studs instead of filled or they have a few extra notches), but essentially they will look and act identical.
➡ LEGO SHOP SALES & DEALS: A number of the older LEGO Dimensions packs are on sale, but this is not particularly a new development. You can buy most LEGO Dimensions packs at about half price both directly from LEGO and at other retailers. What is more interesting is that several newly released larger sets are on sale as well, with 20% off the regular price. This includes the #21127 LEGO Minecraft The Fortress, the #70322 LEGO Nexo Knights Axl’s Tower Carrier, and the #41067 LEGO Disney Princess Belle’s Enchanted Castle. Other notable sets on sale are some of the LEGO Nexo Knights Ultimate Knight packs, and the #40203 LEGO Vampire and Bat Halloween set. Also, the #41068 LEGO Disney Princess Arendelle Castle Celebration, and the #41066 LEGO Disney Princess Anne & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure have been on sale for many months now. They are great sets, but it is possible that LEGO made too many of them and they are not selling fast enough. You can find all the discounted sets under the Sales and Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Two years is a good ballpark estimate for sets but by no means an accurate way to think about it. Though the average set can be available off and on for two years, many sets don’t last nearly that long, particularly sets tied to movies. Jurassic World hasn’t even been out a year and they are no where to be found. And the Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies sets came out a few months before the movie in late 2014 but I haven’t seen them regularly on a shelf for at least five months. The truth is though some mainstay sets may last two years most don’t. The toy industry moves faster and faster each year. Instead weigh the desirability of a given set rather than expecting it to be safe at the two year mark.
Lego released a Friends theme tree house #3065 in 2012 that was a great set and, I believe, one that sold well. It was also a great price at 19.99. This set, 31010, costs a little bit more, adds a larger structure and has a more gender neutral color scheme. As a Creator set, 31010 has directions for three models (you build one at a time): the tree house, a waterside building with a small dock, and a two story barn-like structure. The set includes one mini-figure (a boy) with a walkie talkie, a frog, treasure map, and pizza. The tree house features a folding ladder (very nifty design), a tipper with “water” in it, winch with hook and trash-can, telescope, clubhouse with attic and lift-off top, bed, a hidden compartment (in the tree) for the treasure map, a brick-built wagon, and a brick-built dog. The waterside structure has a small oven with a lift-off top. The little barn features the winch.
This is one drawback of being the second child. You never have time to become gradually familiar with a building toy. There aren’t even enough simple bricks after you start buying set after set.  Instead you inherit of big mass from big brother and if you didn’t pick up the “LEGO language” quickly, well, then you need a translator!
Gemr is the leading platform for collectors to discover, display, discuss, and buy & sell collectibles. Sometimes our team gets chummy and decides to write a blog together. Or maybe someone wants to keep their identity a secret. Pick which option you like best and we’ll just say that’s correct.
Thanks so much for posting this. We have many Lego fans here at our house. I was so stuck on what sets to get for my girls and many stores are sold out on the sets my girls want and Amazon is charging way too much. Sad. So, I was glad to read your tips so off we went to the Lego store to pick up bricks as well as ordering a book through your link. Thanks for the help.
If you recall, the September LEGO Store Calendar mentioned two exclusive sets that were slated for early VIP release from September 14 to 30. We now know that the first is the highly publicized UCS Millennium Falcon (75192), while the second is the LEGO Creator Expert Winter Village Station (10259). The latter is the fifth holiday-themed, D2C Creator Expert set to be released by LEGO, following the likes of the Winter Village Market (10235), Santa’s Workshop (10245), Winter Toy Shop (10249), and the Winter Holiday Train (10254). read more
My son found the Lego City Police Station at Goodwill for $39.99 and it retails for over $100, so of course I let him get it. The good thing about this particular Goodwill was that they let us open the box to make sure all the pieces were there. I also for the Ningago (sp?) sets at the same place. I also we have been able to score sets after Christmas on clearance at Wal-Mart.
It’s simple but Number 1 made color directions for this creation (on one sheet only! hooray for executive function skills!) and sold it at his school flea market fundraiser.  He was beaming with pride!
There are several venues to sell LEGO – Craigslist, eBay, BrickLink or even running a garage-sale are some of them. However if you don’t have the time to do the selling yourself, you can take advantage of the services of Brian Semling, owner of Brian’s Toys. Here is what Brian wanted to let our readers know about what he can offer to LEGO fans who desire to sell:
As one of the most spectacular LEGO Star Wars sets out there, the Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Flacon has 5195 pieces! Minifigs included are: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa! Han Solo’s famous smuggling starship never looked so good!

Force Friday II is right around the corner, and with it will come a barrage of new Star Wars merch to hype us up for The Last Jedi. We don’t really need to be hyped up for the next film in the Star Wars saga, but if there has been one thing synonymous with the franchise it’s merchandising.
After years of “boy lego”, my youngest daughter has proven to be the true Lego fan in the house. About four years ago I set up the girls with heir own little collections of bricks. We had been at our friends’ house where the littlest FishChick played for two hours building with Lego! Two hours! She had never done that at home because I’d never set her up for it. Sure, the boys could do that all day long, but she’d never played with Lego. Weird, huh? The best part was that she was using her imagination and creating her own things, namely ice cream sundaes.
Now you need to go to File > Import > Bricklink Set Inventory. On Category choose [All Items] and on Filter type the Millennium Falcon set number 10179. BOOM. Done. You have a list with all the parts that form this set.
In addition to the rationale of logistical supply chain that people are mentioning for the discontinuation of sets, I thought I should point out that the collector’s market after a set is retired is skewing our perspective with respect to what the demand was while the set was in production.
@myscrnnm: On most tape-sealed LEGO boxes there is a printed production run code on one of the seals, e.g. XXS6 with XX being the week of production, with S being Europe and 6 being 2016 (or 2006). On glued boxes the code is embossed or, since recently some sets, printed.
We have strong reason to believe that LEGO 75060 Slave 1 UCS has a high risk of retiring soon! Get yours before it retires, since it is a Ultimate Collectors Series, this set will most certainly go up in value once it is retired! Get yours before it retires! #lego #starwars #retiringsoon #legoretiringsoon #retiredlego #investment #bestinvestment
Another important tip is to just ask for stuff they want.  Make sure you give the G-Parents the product number too.  Try looking up LEGO Creator House and see what happens.  Be kind and give the number.

For the Lego collectors who love Batman, this set is to die for because it includes more than figurines and vehicles. This set also comes with Batman’s high-tech Bat Cave features control center, prison cell, and rocket and net launcher as well as other working gadgets like the costume transformation chamber.

Yay! Doesn’t that feel good when something comes together like that? Glad you live close enough to a pick-a-brick wall. It’s an hour’s drive either way for me, so I went with the brick box, but still feel better than a set.

I can give you some info. If you want a specific set check it weekly at the Lego store. It will get a retiring soon tag (not sold out or hard to get tags those are different). Past that check fan sites like this one, but don’t take anything said on them as the final truth.
A few years ago Anne shared with us her tutorial on how to build a Lego table with a LACK table from IKEA (updated images coming soon!). Depending on pricing in your neighborhood, this project should cost less than $35. If you already have the table and plates, then it will be get me wrong.  I think LEGO bricks are super cool! I am a sucker for anything translucent and those miniature replicas of real-life objects steal my heart. (we have videocameras, pizzas, goggles, alligators, etc)  I love them just as much as I love those porcelain bathtubs of handcrafted wooden dollhouses. To me, LEGO is its own language – like visual poetry.
Fun Factor: This was a really fun build. Because it is a microworld, you can easily tell what each piece represents as you are clicking them into place. Once complete, it’s really fun to create different arrangements with the modules. Even with just eight modules, you have quite a few options. I hope I can get a second one to customize the microworld even further.

I know this because I got hit with flooding twice in the last year. On top of loosing stuff I also want stuff. Especially the Slave I. I called Lego and told them everything that was going on and how much I wanted the set. They researched what they could but in the end they just don’t have that information very far in advance. They did send me an email letting me know that based on how long it has been out I probably have time.
So many new LEGO sets were released this month which have been keeping LEGO fans busy. I wanted to bring to your attention that if you are shopping online, a lot of the older LEGO sets just went on sale. So if you are buying some of the new sets but your total doesn’t meet the minimum for free shipping, you might consider taking a look at the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop. Please note that LEGO putting sets on sale means that these products are getting retired. Once they are gone they are gone. Below are some of the highlights. 🙂
Below is a list of LEGO sets that are at risk of retiring soon in and around the 2018 calendar year. It is organized into sets that are at a high risk of retiring soon, medium risk, and low risk. Note that LEGO retirement dates are not an exact science and all sets that have been available for sufficiently long can be discontinued at any time, with no notice. Let us know your thoughts and leave a comment below.
You’ve put way more though into this than have. Since there is a lack of white bearded faces, I was considering Count Duku?’s face for president Snow. I got it some time ago but I can’t quite remember how and maybe use BrickForge hero hair in white.
You won’t probably even recall a Sandcrawler that much from Episode IV, except for the fact that it’s full with Jawas and they sell C3-PO and R2-D2 to Luke Skywalker, but the LEGO version of this vehicle is full-packed with details.
Jabba’s Palace is the first Lego set I have purchased/used since I was a kid. I bought this for my 6 year old daughter because she loves all things Star Wars now. I was very impressed with all of the new engineered style pieces this set included. The engineering they must put it to these new sets is amazing. The play set can open/close by folding it in half. This is accomplished by an a few simple Lego pieces allowing for a hinge. This play set even has to portions that perform a sliding effect. One of the sliding effects is used to open the trap door in front of Jabba’s platform, like in the Return of the Jedi movie. The other sliding portion will push the Jabba platform forward. I was very impressed with the way these worked and enjoyed building them with my daughter.
This is not a set you could win in a card game, no matter how drunk Lando gets. It’s the rarest set in this or any Galaxy. Han Solo himself would need several weeks to build the 5,195 piece Millennium Falcon, even with the giant bound instruction guide. May the force be with you if you decide to add this ship to your LEGO Star Wars collection because you’ll need $10,000 to own it.
Baseplates – Baseplates are large, flat pieces that are thinner than regular building plates. They are popular items. Baseplates are usually referred to by their dimensions in LEGO studs, e.g. “16×16”, “32×32”
We basically have three options when a LEGO set that we want has been retired already. We can always pretend the set doesn’t exist and put it far out of our minds. The next option is take advantage of the secondary market like eBay, BrickLink, etc. You will likely find the set you are looking for, but unless you stumble upon an amazing deal, you will have to pay significantly more than the original price. This could mean having to wait longer to save up enough money for that retired set, and in the meantime you may also miss out on newer sets that you want. This can turn into a vicious pattern of always playing catch up and ending up spending far more than intended.
LEGO is doing some pretty major summer clearance right now at the Online LEGO Shop, including some very nice medium to large sets that are getting retired. Below I will highlight some of the most noteworthy ones, and you can check out the rest at the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop. Please note that once stock is out on retiring soon sets, LEGO won’t be making any more, so make sure you don’t miss out. 🙂

When I go to the US retiring page, all I get are bionicle sets and stuff, none of the items listed here. Then I click on the link in this article to the UK retiring page and these sets are listed there. What is going on? Is this why I never learned the Town Hall was retiring a couple years ago?

The Town Hall is a very sweet set. I really like the colors. I fully furnished and customized mine on the inside, so it is fun from that perspective too. If I remember correctly all of the parts are pretty standard. However if you consider parting it together it is probably better doing it earlier than later as more want to do the same.
If we’re going to talk about a collection of X-Wings, there isn’t any other set better that this one. The Red Five, Luke Skywalkers’ call sign during the Battle of Yavin (given to him due to the fact that the “old” Red Five dies during the Battle of Scarif in Rogue One). This ship is a thing of beauty.

I finally got a copy of this set so I can write an actual review. I find many reviews on Amazon are negative because of item availability and aftermarket pricing. So here is an actual review of the set, not the market. Please see the customer image gallery for my build uploads.

Another theme that is retiring is LEGO Hero Factory, to give room for the return of LEGO BIONICLE next year. Most of the LEGO Hero Factory sets are already sold out, but there are a few left from the latest wave that you may want to consider. Even if you don’t want them for yourself, the mini heroes sell particularly well in the secondary market. You can find whatever is left at the Retiring Soon section of the Online LEGO Shop.
One these that I’m sad to see go is the LEGO Master Builder Academy series. I own all four levels and highly recommend them (you can read my review on the sets here: New LEGO Master Builder Academy Available!). They are a great way to systematically learn advanced building techniques with LEGO, and the parts-selection is also excellent. Kids, teens and adults can all find value in this well thought out series. It never became available outside the USA even though there is an international demand. If you support your hobby by reselling LEGO sets, I would suggest that you seriously consider adding these to your inventory. Even buying them at full price will leave you plenty of room for profit when the sets get fully retired as LEGO fans and collectors will still be looking for them. You can find the sets at the Retiring Soon section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Our latest featured LEGO set is the City Ambulance 4431 first released in 2011.  The set is made of 199 pieces.  It was designed for ages 5 to 12.   There are three minifigures, two paramedics and a patient.  The Read more »
If find the challenges of putting together a set fun in itself.

I use Ikea GLIS containers but there are others such as: (Make sure they stack! Shallow is better for smaller pieces)
Notable features: Lego’s “Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon” is the largest Star Wars set and the second-largest Lego set ever made. It features Lego figures of Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

➡ LEGO CITY VOLCANO SETS ON SALE: The LEGO City Volcano Exploration line is getting retired in favor of the recently released LEGO City Jungle Exploration theme, so most of the remaining LEGO City Volcano sets are now on sale. There are some really nice sets in the collection, like the #60125 LEGO City Volcano Heavy-Lift Helicopter, the #60124 LEGO City Volcano Exploration Base, the #60123 LEGO City Volcano Supply Helicopter, and the #60121 LEGO City Volcano Exploration Truck. You can find them under the LEGO City section, or just go to the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Is there a good site to keep track of the soon to be retired sets? I know that when the new modular comes out each January, one usually retires to be replaced by it. Was that the case this year? Closest I see is maybe the pet shop or that other similar sized one, but wasn’t sure those were in the ‘modular’ bucket.

My daughter is young, but already computer literate enough to search eBay for Harry Potter Lego Sets.  The prices for complete Harry Potter sets tends to be sky high (eBay prices are second only to the after-market prices on Amazon) — although you can find bargains if you pay attention. You might find a loose set (no box, most of the pieces) for 1/2 to 3/4 of the (after-market) price of the unopened box, but that’s expensive (as they’re going for three times the retail price when in-stores) and slightly dodgy, as you don’t know for sure that all the pieces are there until you build the set.
LEGO Shop has double points right now. I was browsing and noticed the points per item were doubled. They are having some kind of sale Saturday but the double points are active now. No word on how long double points will last. Hopefully they’ll announce when he give the Saturday sale.

Conclusion: If you can get it for MSRP of $34.99, it’s a buy. I wouldn’t suggest paying collectible prices, as LEGO will undoubtedly be producing more of these, and will probably create different Minecraft sets in the near future. At least I hope they do. I would love to add more modules to this set, and I’ll be interested to see tiny zombies, skeletons, and mob animals.
This set comes with instructions for all three models. The pieces are bagged into several groups to make sorting easier. I find the models all to be great to play with, though I’ve left mine in the treehouse configuration. There are a nice variety of parts and building techniques to keep the builder interested throughout.
Thanks for these tips for buying LEGO sets. It’s good to know there are sites where I can go to compare prices. I would like my son to have his own LEGO collection, so I should do this to find the best price for a cool set for him to put together.

If you haven’t collected all of the Rogue One sets you want, now is a good time to start. LEGO designer Hans Burkhard Schlömer noted that the sets for the first Star Wars standalone film are getting discontinued.
I think you would have to look at it in an entrepreneur/business man’s point of view to understand it. If people aren’t buying enough of the sets to keep a good profit after a few years, Lego might find that they would make more money using the same pieces if they were to discontinue the set and release a new one people would buy more of. If you already have an old set that is still on the market, there wouldn’t be much point in buying a second or third. (assuming its for personal use.)

The drum tower to the side of the gate house has a catapult on top. Unlike previous catapults, this one is fixed facing forward. It also contains a spring, a soft pole that is deformed when the catapult is pressed down. It is much easier to operate than the standard swivel catapults included in previous sets, especially since you don’t risk breaking the structure when firing.

That would be great, but I doubt LEGO would ever make it for the reasons you mentioned. Having said that, if a LEGO Ideas Hunger Games project would make it to 10,000, LEGO might consider a one-time set. 😉
And for the post above @mrdoofa – happens everywhere – diecast, art, real cars, action figures, etc. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t bother Lego – If buyers are willing spend money on old retired items, the same buyers will also spend money on new releases. I bought an Extra Town Hall when it was going EOL. Am I a bad person? I don’t think so. The profit when I decide to sell buys more Lego I want, which is good for TLG.. You can do the exact same…..

Yes, the discount is basically 20%. That’s pretty standard when LEGO is doing a clearance. The only time I have seen them go over this (up to 50%) is the year-end sale. You do get VIP Points though too, so that helps, and shopping for discounted sets during the Double VIP Points period is even better. 🙂

Finally, at the risk of sounding like a shill for Lego, the Creator section of the Lego website has a nice collection of short videos that feature their own designers explaining advanced building techniques. These videos mesh nicely with this set.
This Creator Carousel Lego set is one of the best Lego sets, and is nothing less than amazing. It should be considered a must have for all serious Lego collectors. ^^ Since Lego did tell us, which sets are going to retire “soon”, it seems they want to sell us their left over stock as fast as possible, creating an extra demand while still having lots of boxes. And with the last box sold, the set is retired. So there is no “date”, I guess. It had been the same with the Exo-Suit.
➡ ONLINE LEGO SHOP RETIRING SOON: While the US version of the Online LEGO Shop hasn’t been updated yet with sets retiring soon, the UK version lists a number of large and exclusive sets that are scheduled to retire. This means that once the current stock is gone, LEGO will make no more of these sets. Four of the sets are from the LEGO Ideas line, which are limited release to begin with. The four sets are: #21108 LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1, #21302 LEGO Ideas The Big Bang Theory, #21303 LEGO Ideas WALL-E, and #21304 LEGO Ideas Doctor Who. None of these sets are on sale, but if you want one, it is best to get them now before they will disappear and prices on the secondary market go up. Perhaps the early retirement of the Ideas sets comes from the “Original Ideas” campaign; now that they’ve begun going for the unlicensed sets (Maze, Fishing Store) they want to distance themselves from the licensed products and take Ideas in a new direction altogether.
Whether you’re a huge Star Wars fan or not, the name “Millennium Falcon” has definitely crossed your eardrum. Originally a cargo vessel designed to lug around cargo until it was heavily, and illegally, modified to become the ship everyone now knows to be modest, but very powerful. For the Lego collectors looking for the best Lego Star Wars sets, this one is a steal. Many reviews of the product state that the finished product, “… looks exactly like the Millennium Falcon. Every little detail visible in the movie is present on the model.”
Star Wars and Lego are both global phenomenon in there own right and have separately produced some of the most sought-after memorabilia in the history of popular culture. When the superpowers met however, a holy alliance of bricks and studs was born.
LEGO Super Heroes The Tumbler 76023 I do not have a shop. I run a warehouse. I can meet you for pickup in the following areas: Taigum (Rare) Brisbane City Fortitude Valley Runcorn Underwood Gold Coast (Rare) If there are any other sets that I do not have listed or any discontinued sets, please contact me to see if I can source it. Lego discontinues sets for a lot of different reasons… Mostly because of demand for parts I am sure, they cannot thin out their lines to keep 1000 more sets in production, plus sets get old, they do.. most people buy one and they want to see the next one out.. therefore if they were to make more of them then no one would buy.. and no, only selling 3 sets to people over 1 year is not their idea of good sales…. Then they would need to list a lot of their warehouse for 50% off.. again not something they want to do…. I mean look at the steamrollers and pig farms, which would not die… I think the biggest reason is to keep the lines fresh.. not to mention sets can come back at times (see the Metroliner, Main street, Black Falcons Fortress and Guarded Inn and recently the Maersk Container ship).

As a Lego seller, or someone who wishes to begin selling Legos, you must be careful when making your purchase.  After I purchased my first lot, I was astonished to find my precious Legos intermingled with junk.  I’m talking about leaking batteries, fingernails (I am NOT kidding!), trash, coins, rocks, used popsicle sticks, nails, toy cars…are you getting the picture?  Worst of all, my supposed “Lego” lot was about 50% imitation bricks, parts, and pieces.  My seller did not make amends and I was out a lot of money.  I did learn a valuable lesson, though.
I think the bigger question is why does shop.lego.com remove products from it’s index instead of just saying they are not sold anymore. Links at say, technic.lego.com will link to products on shop.lego.com that are not there anymore. – tooshel Jan 1 ’12 at 18:20
Printed parts-lists for a LEGO project are a great way to have an easy reference-guide to how things are progressing with your project. The list can be kept with the project and may make a useful guide when ordering. The printout can take any form you want, including Excel sheets or a printer-friendly version of the set inventory.
Lego Duplo Creative Ice Cream set #10574 comes with all 24 pieces to create different ice creams. This popular set has been discontinued and is hard to find, sells at on line auction for approx $50. There is no box or instruction manual, but easy to use your imagination with these. Overall in very good played with condition with mild play wear and a few small minor marks. Please see photos. We are clearing a lot of stuff including other Lego. Contact through Gumtree messaging please. No
Making the list as one of the 7 most expensive Lego sets, this stunning model of the Eiffel Town was released in 2007 and is built to 1:100 scale from the original blueprints. This set includes realistic and enchanting features and details such as a flag at the top of the elevators, four lifts toward the bottom of the tower that transport figurines from the base to the center section, and a small, brick-built French flag. It holds the record for the tallest Lego structure produced into a set and contains over three-thousand pieces!
➡ LEGO SETS RETIRING SOON: There are several LEGO Star Wars sets that are getting retired to give room for the 2015 LEGO Star War sets. Some of the highlights include the #75018 LEGO Star Wars Jek-14’s Stealth Starfighter, the #75019 LEGO Star Wars AT-TE, the #75022 LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian Speeder, the #75039 LEGO Star Wars V-wing Starfighter, and the #9493 LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter. None of them are listed for sale, just that are retiring soon. In my experience if and when sets like this do go on sale they disappear so fast you will likely miss them. So if you are interested in any of these sets I would suggest you get them now before they are gone. You can find them all at the Retiring Soon section of the Online LEGO Shop.
While not as big as the 10179 Millennium Falcon, this Episode III one is still a great addition for any collector. With 985 pieces, if you get your hands on one, you’ve got a very rare set since it’s now retired and hard to find!

“largest lego set canceled lego sets”

I’ve always been in 2 minds about the Sydney opera house, it just seems so expensive compared to Tower bridge and especially Big Ben both of which I have, they both have many more pieces for less money. I managed to get Doctor Who for £35 on amazon, I got Big Bang theory with VIP points, own ewok village and Wall-E. That leaves the sandcrawler which has never been a must buy like ewok village was.
This Friends Lego set is Pre-Owned, so it does show some wear like scratches. Set is Incomplete great for someone who need parts to complete a set, or just need some random parts for a MOC. Overall th…
Not having everything available any time for a reasonable price is what makes collecting fun. Whats a collection if not some of the pieces gain worth over time? Do you really want a world, where theres no way that any set in your collection will grow to a rare item?
Great article !! I am currently awaiting for a lot of Bricklink orders to to be delivered, covering the building-from-spare-parts of… 2.5 modulars ^^” Those are Cafe Corner, right-half of Market Street and Fire Brigade (I already had a lot of Dark Red bricks and tiles so it was a no-brainer !). Thus, having spent a lot of time and money in the process, I can confirm absolutely everything I just read in this article 😉 From Wanted Lists tips to problems with parts, I went through all of it, so it’s very pleasing and reassuring to know that other people have experienced that.
Pick a brick is not a cheap way of buying Lego bricks. Consider what Lego charges per brick – $0.07+ per piece, small pieces being $0.07 and larger pieces $0.49 and up. Price per brick varies by size, color and whether a piece is basic or advanced. Cheapest way I’ve found to buy bulk Legos is reputable eBay sellers who specialize in used Lego pieces. Typically they are sold in 1000+ piece lots that contain a variety of pieces in a variety of colors for something like $24.99. That’s less than $0.03 per brick. Do your research, you’ll get a lot more bang for your buck. BTW, if you or your kid are interested in building anything even remotely large, 1000 pieces will barely get you started. A large cup of bricks off the Lego wall for $16 = micro build.

“Rarity is the most important factor with any LEGO collectible,” said Ed Maciorowski, founder of Lego pricing guide BrickPicker. “If a set is rare, and desirable, and continues to be rare, it will remain valuable.”
Stop Captain Hook from sneaking onboard Jake’s Pirate Ship Bucky and taking the treasure! Spot him from the turning lookout tower, fire the cannon and hoist the sail to evade that pesky pirate. Escape to the island and bury the treasure where no one… more
3) Avoid generic kids’ stuff. Fire stations and police stations go on sale regularly, but Maciorowski warns they’re not typically investment winners. Steer clear of the Lego City sets, which are lemons. (Unless you’re five years old. Then they’re awesome.)
To me “Retiring Soon” label was the latest promotional tool from LEGO Shop at Home to entice people to buy older sets WITHOUT loss of profit (via discounts).  Since it is just a promo tool, it does not need to be 100% reliable.
Create your very own treetop hideaway with the 3-in-1 LEGO Creator Tree house. Open the secret trapdoor and climb up the fold-down ladder. Use the gray bucket to lift supplies up with the winch. Fill the red bucket with water and tow it up to keep unwanted guests away. This detailed playhouse includes a yellow wagon for transporting all your favorite things to your treetop hideaway, a hollow tree for storing your secret treasure map and a dog. Remove the roof for easy access to the storage area and sleeping bag, or detach the entire Tree house. Rebuild into a cute lakeside hut with a jetty and pizza oven or a 2-story farmyard barn with a garden and wheelbarrow using the supplied alternate building instructions. Includes a child minifigure.
Sort the incoming LEGO elements for the project in a way you like to build. Sure, you could just shove the pieces all in one big bag as they arrive from different sellers, however if you take the time to sort the elements in a way that you enjoy building, then when it comes time to put the set together, things are a lot easier. A couple of sorting methods are either by color or by piece category. I’ll often make broader categories like all blues or all bricks – whether they are modified or not. The added advantage of this method is that if you have to double check if you got a part already it is easier to find the answer. For large projects with thousands of pieces this can be very helpful.
Thank goodness we saved the instructions. That is another money saving tip.  They (or you) can rebuild it if it falls on the floor by accident.   It can be a lot of work but it really prevents me from buying more LEGOs.  It’s good modeling for the kids.  Pictured: LEGO Creator Hillside House
Whether it’s Brian’s Toys, a friend, or someone who responds to your add through Craigslist who will resell the sets for you, they will have to have enough wiggle-room to be able to make the deal profitable and worth their time.
That makes sense since after the movie is out of theaters I imagine the sets don’t fly off the shelves. But it really causes the prices to skyrocket on the secondary market due to the limited availability.
Above all, make sure the listing states that the lot is 99% or 100% genuine Lego Brand.  If they didn’t state that in their description, then take the time to e-mail them to ask.  It is definitely worth it!
I can see now that the most pricey element is the Certificate of Authenticity, for a whooping US$ 800. Let’s remove that, I’m not creating an authentic piece. Next it’s a Sticker Set for the Falcon holder, at US$ 170. Let’s get rid of that.
Darth Vader’s personal flagship and the Imperial command centre in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the Super Star Destroyer is quite the spectacle in Lego form. The hilariously diddy Star Destroyer that comes in the box shows off how grandiose this gargantuan, 3,152-piece ship really is.

That would be great, but I doubt LEGO would ever make it for the reasons you mentioned. Having said that, if a LEGO Ideas Hunger Games project would make it to 10,000, LEGO might consider a one-time set. 😉
Dang, I was hoping to save money to get something like the Sandcrawler or the Ewok Village. I am also shocked to see Dr. Who and The Big Bang Theory up on that list to. I wonder if Lego is having supply issues again, or if demand is so high it brought about a fast end of those projects.
I use savings websites/apps like Walmart Savings Catcher, IBotta, Checkout51, Microsoft Rewards (Bing Search) to earn gift cards. I then use the gift cards to purchase Lego for my son’s birthday and Christmas presents. I match the gift cards with low-price sales at Amazon, Walmart, or ToysRUs.
My Uncle Pat, about 12 years my senior, gave me his original Lego set. (He regrets that now. Imagine what THAT would go for on eBay!) I think we only had a handful of colors, too, but those little plastic bricks provided hours of creative entertainment.
I strongly suspected the SHIELD Helicarrier would be retiring soon, so recently picked that up (and was my weekend build project). Now I have the dilemma of deciding whether to pick up an additional TIE and convert it to an Interceptor…
The first Ultimate Collector’s Series (UCS for those in the LEGO know) on our list is the deadly TIE Interceptor. Although this set it is only made up of 703 pieces, it’s valued at over $1000, about 10 times more than what it originally sold for. You would not want to destroy this with an X-wing or you would be out a lot of money.
Finally, at the risk of sounding like a shill for Lego, the Creator section of the Lego website has a nice collection of short videos that feature their own designers explaining advanced building techniques. These videos mesh nicely with this set.

Also, I just looked at the 10246 press-release, and I’m positively shaking because I can’t get to LDD now, and there’s so much to build! I will retain my full opinion, however, until admin’s article about it is published. 😉 But one question: how is that pool sign attached? It seems to be one hinge, but I can’t guess what the other parts there are. 😕
it’s sad to see them go. but seeing as in the last 9 months we had almost no set’s retired this is no big shock. well a shock to see them all set to go End of line at the same time. but not that we have set’s retiring.

Since the company’s beginning in 1932, Lego has grown to be the world’s third largest toy manufacturer, and for good reason. No child or adult can resist creating their favorite monuments, figurines, ships, carousels, and many more! As for the Lego set collectors who love Star Wars, the Millennium Falcon set will keep your Jedi impulses at bay while you’re out in public. If you prefer Batman, then “Holy Cow!” you have to allow yourself to have a ball with the Batcave set! If you just want a good ‘ol pirate-ey time, then land your ship and drop your anchor on the Skull’s Eye Schooner set. Interestingly, the Lego name is derived from the two Danish words “Leg” and “Godt,” which means “play well,” and so you should.
The amazingly detailed battle station features loads of moving parts and minifigs that will have your Star Wars heart racing with joy. And with 3803 pieces, you’ll be able to spend a lot of time and devotion to the ultimate Death Star playset.
Lego’s priciest advanced models are highly valued collector’s items. The most expensive retired Lego sets can fetch up to five figures. Among the most expensive include sets themed after Star Wars and major world landmarks like the Taj Mahal.

As one of the most iconic vehicles form the OG Star Wars movies, you have to have the AT-AT walker as part of your collection. Released in 2010, the 815-piece set comes with 8 minifigures like Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, Han Solo in Echo base gear, Rebel Trooper with P-Tower laser cannon, AT-AT pilot, 2 Snowtroopers, General Veers and Imperial Officer.
The market for old toys on eBay is much bigger than just Lego. If you’ve got some old childhood clutter just gathering dust, here are 8 ways to tell if your old toys could be worth more then just memories while our guide to getting the most cash when selling old toys on eBay can be found here .
Any Lego Star Wars set that is still readily available, i.e. not retired, in 2017 could qualify for our list.  That is a pretty broad list and we did consider quite a few, but there are some other ways we narrowed it down.  There are a couple of dozen sets which are little more than a minifigure and a small ship or another accessory.  If one of these blew us away, we would consider it, but given the wealth of options available, that didn’t happen.
Gemr is the leading platform for collectors to discover, display, discuss, and buy & sell collectibles. Sometimes our team gets chummy and decides to write a blog together. Or maybe someone wants to keep their identity a secret. Pick which option you like best and we’ll just say that’s correct.
Women aged 32 and 53 were killed, while two other women were uninjured but suffering shock and led from the scene – one of those is pregnant. The shots were fired at a house in the suburb of St Leonards, Hastings
Of the four current “UCS” sets, I prefer the Slave and the TIE. I think of the other two as “play sets” and they just don’t look as cool. Of course, the higher price points of Hoth and the DS might make them rarer and better investments. However, given this is the 3rd (?) large DS model, I’m wondering if it will be all that sought after in retirement. What do you guys think?
In the Fall 2017 catalog some sets have the term “Last Chance!” above the price. The description in the catalog’s legend says specifically that a product with that label will be retiring soon. A list of those sets are as follows:
Oh, Bat Lords! That was an awesome theme! Love their helmets! I have a couple of them myself. BTW, eBay is a great place to pick up older sets for cheap! I have gotten some gorgeous sets from the Viking line (love those!) and also the Orient Expedition Dragon Fortress and two copies of the Scorpion Palace. 😀

In addition to the rationale of logistical supply chain that people are mentioning for the discontinuation of sets, I thought I should point out that the collector’s market after a set is retired is skewing our perspective with respect to what the demand was while the set was in production.

Excellent condition This set is in excellent condition and has been disassembled with all the pieces complete. It comes with the manual and whilst the box and manual have signs of normal wear the LEGO set is in excellent condition. This set is no longer available to purchase from the stores as it is discontinued which makes it perfect for the collector or the LEGO fanatic who wants a set that none of their friends have. I will post at the buyers expense
Clean your LEGO pieces. You don’t need to scrub each piece, but a quick wash in warm water and dish soap will add value to your LEGO lot. Put them in a storage tub with enough warm water to cover them. Add some soap and stir them around a bit. Let them soak a while and stir them a few more times. Drain, rinse, and spread them out on a towel to air dry. Stir them up a few times on the towel so the water drains better. Mention in your listing that you have cleaned them. If you have no pets or smokers in your home, mention this as well.
You forgot that the MechDragon is on sale. But then that’s not really retiring soon. What I don’t understand is why the V-wing, Vulture Droid, and AT-TE are retiring so early. The V-wing and Vulture droid are 2014 releases even! 😕 Not that I’m complaining, I have the V-wing already and my brother has the AT-TE, so we’re good.

One thing I was impressed with this set while building is how large and simple the pieces were, and how straight forward construction was. Compared to say, set 9474 Lord of the Rings Battle of Helms Deep, this set was downright easy. Other than having to tie one knot and also decorating several pieces with a sheet of stickers, I’d say that younger children (ages 7-8) would have a pretty easy time putting the rest of this set together. Having put together this set, I’d say this is a very good value.
I think most kids will stick with the tree house design as it has the most going on. Play-wise, this set works well with a wide range of Lego’s other themes. It is mini-figure size, unlike some of the other Creator sets. The set makes a great gift because if the child does not like it, they have the ability to make a wide range of other structures. At the very least, it is a good collection of very useful bricks.

My daughter is young, but already computer literate enough to search eBay for Harry Potter Lego Sets.  The prices for complete Harry Potter sets tends to be sky high (eBay prices are second only to the after-market prices on Amazon) — although you can find bargains if you pay attention. You might find a loose set (no box, most of the pieces) for 1/2 to 3/4 of the (after-market) price of the unopened box, but that’s still expensive (as they’re going for three times the retail price when in-stores) and slightly dodgy, as you don’t know for sure that all the pieces are there until you build the set.
Despite my earlier hesitations, the tinkling sound of Lego pieces being sorted and scooped is a happy sound to me, a remembrance of hours and hours of intense, creative play by my sons. And now my youngest daughter.
For me, secondary market is a blessing. I have a chance to buy retired technic sets thanks to collectors and investors and i don’t have a problem with paying an extra cash for those sets i call it “delay tax” because i just came out of my Dark Ages.
