“lego scooby doo retiring |big lego sets cheap”

LEGO Europe site did it again! After LEGO revealed some of their upcoming retirements in their Europe website in October, they had announced even more retiring sets this week. This list is massive and it includes Star Wars Rogue One, Force… Continue Reading →
Unfortunately I’ve never seen Legos sold (bricks or sets) at any garage sales or thrift stores around here or I would have snatched them up. My mother had saved my original set so we started with that. My daughter loves the little Lego Friends figurines. We’ve successfully bought a couple of times off eBay. I think only once was it missing one of the pieces (not evident unless you consulted the manual). Let friends know you’re interested in Legos – sometimes they’re downsizing and will hand them off for free or a great price. When you do have to buy new, watch for sales throughout the year; we snagged a larger Lego Friends set at Target way back in September. It was a one-day only 40% off special.
Try the LEGO Adventure Book by Megan Rothrock.  Get them inspired, let them create their own thing and then sell it!  What an awesome lesson. If you ever want to save money, tell them to think like a designer and let them experience what it means to sell an idea by trying to sell their own!  My kid donated his creation to the school weekly flea market.  While he didn’t profit personally, he got major compliments at school. (WIN!)  He’s making a name for himself and hopefully he’ll get custom orders! Hooray for geekiness!

LEGO Friends is of course not retiring as a theme as it is highly popular, however several of the individual sets are to give room to the new wave next year. The #3185 LEGO Friends Summer Riding Camp is a particularly nice set and it is listed for half price, and so is the #3186 LEGO Friends Emma’s Horse Trailer. You can’t go wrong with these sets as they are super sweet and have great resale value as well. You can fine them at the Retiring Soon section of the Online LEGO Shop.
After reading a couple of interesting posts I thought I would toss my own thoughts on what the Lego.com retiring soon moniker means to me.  To me this is definitely going to be the bane of the secondary market in time.  It indicates to everyone interested in Lego that their time is nearly up to purchase particular sets.  It also indicates to resellers the time to buy is now.  I’m sure there will be the usual procrastinators inside of there yet, but I think overall less.  I think that for every one person who buys one knowing that a set will soon be retired there will be another reseller buying two of them to hopefully sell to the person that missed that time window.  If Lego stays on top of and consistent with their labeling of sets ‘retiring soon’ it will definitely start to take the steam out of the secondary market and make buying and holding a regular occurrence with the majority of sets.  (this is not meant to be a bubble thread)  I apologize in advance if it somehow evolves into that or an ethical debate.  Overall this doesn’t bother me, just one of those things I’ve given a moments thought to.
I have Lots of Galaxy Squad, Alien Conquest, and a few Ninjago sets, but my best ones are my Power Miner Sets. I have the Titanium Command Rig, the Underground Mining Base, Lavatraz, the Crystal King, and a few others. I mainly see these big ones (Command Rig and Underground Base) go for $200-$400 on Amazon and other places. I have them preconstructed with the instructions. However, I see them sold on Brian’s Toy’s for only $90-$100. Is that realistic? Please respond to this as I am BURIED in my sets and really want to sell them. Oh yeah, I also have the Indiana Jones Temple of Doom Set and the Lego MBA Level One Space Designer set. The Space Designer has all original pieces and content and the box, but it has been opened. Is that worth anything? Thanks, hope you can get back to me!
Use this method to minimize damage. This method is more time-consuming than others, unless the LEGO only has minor dust and dirt. Use this for your favorite or most collectible LEGO, to keep them safe from accidental damage.
Minecraft is an online sandbox a virtual world where the essential play is creative building with virtual cubes and its about learning skills and building craft tools and mining for gold and diamonds. The games is inspired by Infiniminer, Dwarf Fortress and Dungeon Keeper, created by Markus Persson, the founder of Mojang AB. The game involves players creating and destroying various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. The player takes an avatar that can destroy or create blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork across the various multiplayer servers in multiple game modes. Minecraft was the fastest growing online game in 2012. Players can destroy various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. Inspired by Infiniminer, Dwarf Fortress and Dungeon Keeper. Due to it’s popularity and public outcry, this game has been “ported” to LEGO form, for even more enjoyment!
For example, the 10197 Fire Brigade has been around since 2009, same as 10193 but both are still selling. While Ninjago is currently changing and set 2258 suddenly is no longer for sale in the Lego Store at Disneyland and not available online. Yet that series only came out this year.
Now that the LEGO set is picked out and you have the instructions, the next step is to do a bit of research. Start by finding out what the going rate for the set is on the secondary market. My personal go-tos are BrickLink and eBay. The price-guide on these websites will give you a gauge that you can use to decide which makes more sense: buy the set as a whole, or piece it together yourself. For example, I wanted to build the #10185 LEGO Modular Green Grocer that has been retired years ago. The piece-count for this sets is 2352 pieces, and the price back in 2008 was $150. Now on the secondary market I found the lowest prices around the mid $700s with a good majority at the $800 mark – this is for used sets. New condition sets go well over a $1,000. I felt there was plenty of room to find some savings.
As someone who’s just starting to get back into LEGO, this set hits all the right notes for me. Appeal to an awesome game, check. Lots of pieces not normally included in other sets, check. Modular and easy to display on my desk, check.
One way to find value for money on eBay is to buy loose lots of bulk Lego. Zoom in on the photos on eBay to see if there are any pieces/sets/figures you can recognize, and be prepared to bid $10 a pound (or more) for the lot. (Non-Harry Potter Lego tends to go for around $5 a pound.) Sometimes, you might notice most of a set or several great figures amid a sea of random Legos. The question is, whether your child would want the bulk parts to build things from their imagination or only be interested in the exact sets with instructions. If you were so inclined, you could buy the large lots, remove the parts/mini-figure you really wanted and resell the rest on eBay. That’s rather time-consuming. (Although to be fair, searching eBay and the internet at large for discontinued Harry Potter Lego sets is a time-consuming process, if you want to find value for money.)
In addition to BrickLink, which is almost certainly the largest LEGO specific venue other than the LEGO company itself, and has 4 million lots as of this writing, you may find that Bonanza.com has some listings of sets as well
This LEGO set is the “cheaper” version of the UCS Imperial Shuttle (10212), a set with extreme attention to detail, but already discontinued and quite complicated to find (also a bit pricey starting at $760).
LEGO enchants many kids but not every kid. There might be someone willing to sell it to you or just give it to you if you just start a discussion in your online parenting groups about how you would like to buy affordable LEGOs.  If you are looking to give it to a classroom or community center, mention that in your query.    You never know… For us, we’ve seen a lot of generosity from fellow New Yorkers.  I’m so grateful.
Sometimes even LEGO fans would like to sell their LEGO collection, or part of their collection. This may be due to not having enough room, moving, financial challenges, loosing interest in the hobby (hope not!) or just wanting to free up room for new LEGO sets. 😉
The Sales and Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop was recently updated with some interesting surprises. In addition, the Online LEGO Shop in the UK listed all the large sets that will be retiring soon, which is also interesting to see. Below we will take a look at both lists and see what is worth to buy before getting retired, and before the Double VIP Points period expires in a few days. So let’s begin. 🙂
My kid is selling this bridge to me.  Not giving, selling. I’ve created an Entrepe-Monster.  Who started this? Me, but I had help. Check out Megan Rothrock’s The LEGO Adventure book in the background. Just one look at this bridge and he made his own.
Let the pieces air dry. Lay the pieces out on a towel on their sides or base so water can drain. Keep in a ventilated room to speed up the drying, but keep them away from heat. They may take one or two days to fully dry, depending on humidity.
At the International Toy Fair in New York in February 1999, LEGO and Lucasfilm announced LEGO Star Wars to the invited press. Originally licensed until 2008, it has been extended several times — first until 2011, then 2016, and in 2012 the license was extended until 2022.
“Rarity is the most important factor with any LEGO collectible,” said Ed Maciorowski, founder of Lego pricing guide BrickPicker. “If a set is rare, and desirable, and continues to be rare, it will remain valuable.”
We have ZERO items in Sales & Deals here in the UK. The USA & Canada both have 37 sale items in Lego online shop. Doesn’t really seem fair, that the rest of world cannot grab a bargain from the Lego online store. Really annoying, because at the end of the day all customers should be treated the same!!

“lego lime _lego lot”

My solution to ensure some creative Harry Potter-themed Lego fun without breaking the bank has used all of the above sources. First, I showed my daughter the downloadable plans for all the Harry Potter Lego sets which gives her great ideas, and helps her build approximations of them with our old Legos (we have tons, including a lot from my own childhood — one of Lego’s many virtues is that it’s practically indestructible!). Then, I ordered some special parts and figures from Bricklink (spiral staircases, Gryffindor banners, Fat-Lady’s portrait hole, chocolate frogs, etc.), scored one small lot of mixed Harry Potter Lego pieces at a reasonable price on eBay, and found the rest of the pieces we needed on the lego.com site (where we got a free gift). I then left it up to my kids’ imaginations to build their own Hogwarts. The colors might be a mixed bag, but all their friends ooh and aah when they come over, and I haven’t heard one word of complaint.

I got this Lego Creator Treehouse set for my six year old and she really love it. I did help her along the way as the there are many tiny pieces which some little ones may not be able to hold tight and snap into the right places. This set is great for a weekend to spend time together building it. The instructions are very clear and laid out step by step.I would say at a mellow relaxed pace this set takes a good hour from start to finish with you helping your little one. I can also imagine this toy being fun even for much older kids if they are fans of Lego sets.

While you are researching prices, keep in mind that if you plan to stretch out building a set over months or years, equaling the going rate of the set is not a bad thing. However even if you are doing things the long way, you should never spend more than the going rate. Your personal preferences may differ, but essentially you are giving up more LEGO pieces when you spend more. Once your budget is established, you can then determine if the project is worth your time. You know what you like to spend and what you are capable of affording. This early stage is a final check to figure out whether or not you will move forward with the project.
The amazingly detailed battle station features loads of moving parts and minifigs that will have your Star Wars heart racing with joy. And with 3803 pieces, you’ll be able to spend a lot of time and devotion to the ultimate Death Star playset.
Holding the record for the biggest LEGO Star Wars model ever made at 5,195 pieces, this space-style Lego set has earned its place in the hearts of all Star Wars and Lego fans around the world. Also included with this set are 5 iconic Star Wars Lego figurines: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
So now that we’re at the stage where we have a budget and we are convinced that this is a good idea that won’t break the bank, it’s time to get organized. For this I recommend using some of the tools on BrickLink. You can part out the set into a wanted list by clicking the Part Out link on the set’s page. Here we can choose various options like do we want minifigures listed as fully assembled, do we want to be notified when new items get listed, do we want boxes and instruction-manuals in our list, etc. I also like to make the minimum quantity wanted the same as what is on the list. That way I know how much is needed without having to look up the set every time.

If you ever want to feel like you bought a whole bunch of new LEGOs but you have no money, then just start sorting your current stash.  Do it when your kid is NOT HOME.  Why?  Like a puppy, he will hang around you trying to grab and start building and this will mess you up and you’ll snap at him.  Counterproductive.  Make it a surprise – I thought of you today- gift! I use Ikea GLIS containers but there are others such as: (Make sure they stack! Shallow is better for smaller pieces)

A great source of individual parts (new and used) is Bricklink, an online network of stores who sell Lego piece by piece, as well as some complete sets. You’ll find almost everything cheaper than eBay here.
I had asked, and your response led to me buying it yesterday! I am currently about to start on the second half and could not be happier with the detail and techniques found throughout the first half of the build, I am excited to finish it later today.
Excellent condition This set is in excellent condition and has been disassembled with all the pieces complete. It comes with the manual and whilst the box and manual have signs of normal wear the LEGO set is in excellent condition. This set is no longer available to purchase from the stores as it is discontinued which makes it perfect for the collector or the LEGO fanatic who wants a set that none of their friends have. I will post at the buyers expense

This is one drawback of being the second child. You never have time to become gradually familiar with a building toy. There aren’t even enough simple bricks after you start buying set after set.  Instead you inherit of big mass from big brother and if you didn’t pick up the “LEGO language” quickly, well, then you need a translator!

Bigger, maybe but a different question. I would imagine why they remove them entirely is because by leaving the items in and just marking them “sold out” or whatever would be confusing to non-collectors or would solicit a ton of “When will you get more X?” questions. – Nathan Stohlmann Jan 2 ’12 at 15:19
Megan, thanks for sharing! Yes, postage fees can really add up if you don’t manage your wanted list right. Good suggestion about buying parts for several projects at the same time. Have fun with piecing together those awesome sets! 🙂

Then there’s the cost. Look at the current minifig sets and generally it’s 10/c piece plus minifigs, and a lot of the smaller sets really suffer when they have to include too many to make the scene work. But minifigs are simple, a complex one might have 10 pieces. A bare minimum Technic figure has more than that – about 17 by my count. And those pieces have to be assembled, unlike minifigs where half the parts come bare in the bag.

I’ve resisted the modulars, until a week ago when I caved in and ordered the Fire Brigade. I’ve no doubt that I’ll also buy the Emporium and the Pet Shop now too. As for whether I go back and collect the rest, I’m not sure yet, I think I’ll just keep an eye out and if a bargain comes up I’ll probably get it.
It’d be hard to argue against Lego’s Star Wars Collector’s Millennium Falcon as being one of the most challenging and largest Lego sets (it also probably ranks as our #1 LEGOs for adults). The $499 Millennium Falcon is suggested for ages 16-years and older but younger kids can probably get through it with some supervision. The highly detailed scale model is made up of a whopping 5,195 pieces but only 5 mini-figures including Luke, Princess Leia, Han, Chewbacca, and a stormtrooper. Why the set doesn’t include C-3PO and R2-D2 mini-figures is sort of a mystery (weren’t they on the Falcon during the mission to rescue Leia?), but nevertheless the ship itself is more than enough to focus on. The Collector’s Millennium Falcon was released in 2007 and retired in 2010, but remains the most-expensive mass-produced Lego set to date.
The internet delighted when the Lego Creator line debuted the classic Volkswagen T1 Camper van a few years ago, and it’s still one of the most fun and most unique Lego sets we’ve seen on the market. Though the first series has been unfortunately been discontinued by Lego—as is the standard for most unique Creator products—you can still find these classic ’70s busses for the low price of $149 if you look in the right places online, a great price for this 1,300 piece set. The second-series set, meanwhile, is an even cheaper $119, though it comes in a slightly-reworked box design. We’ve linked to the cheaper second-generation model, but the first is also available on Amazon. The interior of this bus is what makes it so special—with a fully-detailed interior, complete with table, seats, steering wheel, and even a gear shift knob. Both the back and the side doors can open, so you can see the interior in all its glory. Overall, just like with some of the Star Wars sets on this list, this Volkswagen camper van just makes us nostalgic and reminiscent for a bygone period of time. Groovy.
Here is a great Lego replacement piece.  I bought the set #7783 at a rummage sale, but it was missing some pieces, so I am selling the sticker sheet by itself.  Comes as shown, BRAND NEW, NEVER USED.  I ship world wide.  I accept paypal email with any questions I combine shipping on all orders!!
Also, I’m guessing that parting each set out would be significantly cheaper than paying the new/used prices for the full set? Any other thoughts you have on how to collect the retired modulars for as cheap as possible would be great!
Over the holidays, my niece got a larger Friends LEGO set and I helped her put it together (it had around 1200 pieces!). I was once again bitten by the LEGO bug. I hadn’t played with LEGO’s for nearly 20 years but now I had to! I looked around LEGO’s website to see what kinds of sets were available – I had seen all the movie sets and what not already in the stores, but wanted something more interesting… Saw these Creator sets and I just had to have them. I ended up getting the 4 that are currently available (Town Hall, Pet Shop, Fire Brigade & Grand Emporium). Too bad the other 2/3 are valued so highly and cost around $1000 each (too rich for my pockets!) but I am looking forward to the Chinese Theatre that will be coming out sometime this year. I wish they made more than 1 of these each year! This set took me about 5-6 hours to complete and it is magnificent! I did a time lapse photo shoot of it as well (which may have increased my build time a little). I’ve completed 3 out the 4 sets I’ve purchased and they are some of the best looking sets I’ve seen and truly had a blast putting them together. One the best parts about these buildings is that they are designed to be connected together to make a street out of them. Can’t wait to get more LEGO sets to build in the future.
Even if these ideas here don’t inspire you to begin your own Lego modular creation, they are cool to look at, aren’t they! And hopefully, Lego will continue introducing a new modular building every year so we can all keep building the kits and adding to our fun and realistic looking Lego towns. Enjoy!

Speaking of tough-to-tackle Technic kits, the Mobile Crane Mk II is hardly a cake walk either. This 2,606-piece set actually includes more than one challenge: It’s two models in one, allowing the builder to choose the big crane on the box or a couple of smaller ones. Again, moving pieces are involved as well as batteries. This is the type of set where one small mistake to could have you scratching your head for hours. What fun!

Hold a meeting and address the town’s citizens at the podium! On the third floor, a spacious meeting room features a large conference table, chairs, globe and plants.
So my question is, should I pass on this theme as a whole, or jump in right now and start relocating my assets to get the three sets that are still out. How many people out here are collecting them and how many pass them up based on price or lack of interest? Again I don’t have many city sets, (currently the only city sets I have that are complete and constructed are the City Small Car (3177), and Camper (7639)). But then again, it would be an excellent display for many Collectible Minifigures, which I collect avidly.

I completely understand your point Rabbit, and your right, I do like that sets hold their value, and even increase over Being an adult and having extra money affords me the benefit of buying more than most. As a collector though, and having no intention of ever selling, I could care less if everyone had every set. I do it to relax and enjoy, not for profit. Again, I am not knocking those that do it for profit but there are many sides to every discussion. So to sum up, for me I wouldnt mind sets being more readily available.
Yes. I definitely think that the current price for CMF is higher than their intrinsic worth, therefore we have a classic bubble on hand. It will burst at some point. However, I think the S1 and even S2 figures, on the other hand, are not overvalued and were not overvalued during the original sale run. Since S1 and S2 saw shorter manufacturing runs, the figures are more rare. Also being the first sets of its kind provide the added value we see with such objects like a first edition book. When we got to S3, the levels of production increased making the items less rare. Pricing increased as well making purchase less compelling. If you’re looking at CMFs as an investment, I don’t think they really are anymore.
As I own several on this list, I agree with those. But you have only mentioned relativly new sets. The 8070 is about 4 years old. I do agree that it should be on this list. But I miss the 8880, which is, in my opinion, the best technic set. I hope you can find one and try to build it.

Lego’s Duplo line is intended for children 1-5 years old and has been around since 1975 (barring a couple brief absences). The Primo offshoot was intended for babies too young to even play with regular Duplo bricks. And unlike Duplo pieces, they were not compatible with regular Lego pieces. Primo was succeeded by Lego Baby, which was phased out in 2005. The niche market was simply not profitable for the company.
I’m not sure if what sold out of set #10199 was the end of the 2010 season stock or the rest of the sets. Perhaps the Winter Bakery’s seasonal stock isn’t selling as fast since they were discounted by the Lego brand stores, though they seem to be gone from the NoVa stores. I probably saw the same Toy Shops that Yellowcastle found at the Potomac Mills, VA Lego store this last week.
My biggest regret like most people here is not buying more than one of these sets. If you bought the Cafe Corner, you would know that LEGO literally encourages you to buy 2,3 or 6 of them, to build yourself a skyscraper…. Don’t believe me, check out the instructions for the set. Had you been insane enough to do that, you would now be considered one smart LEGO collector. I recommended to so many of my LEGO friends to buy these sets, but many of them thought they to be too expensive. I wished I had listened to myself and bought more of them.
One of the things we love about the Lego Creator Tower Bridge set is how it combines historical and real-world locations with the fun and excitement that comes with a Lego set. It isn’t cheap, but the Tower Bridge set, similar to the Assembly Square set above, feels great when you’re building it. When it comes to these Creator Expert sets, 4,000 pieces or more seems to be a great balance between scale and complexity, and the Tower Bridge set is no exception. With almost 4,300 pieces, including four vehicles and a completely working drawbridge, this is one of our favorite sets yet. The final set is gigantic, measuring over 40 inches long from start to finish. Needless to say, it might be a bit difficult to find space for this bridge among your collection once you’re complete. One note for those looking for something to do with the kids: these Expert sets don’t come with numbered bags, since part of the challenge of Lego sets is building it into a gigantic, puzzle-like kit. But if you can get over the hump of working without numbered bags, you’ll really enjoy assembling Tower Bridge. We’d love to see Lego branch out and do some additional work on London-themed sets, to build a miniature Lego London. Get on it, Lego!

^^ Since Lego did tell us, which sets are going to retire “soon”, it seems they want to sell us their left over stock as fast as possible, creating an extra demand while still having lots of boxes. And with the last box sold, the set is retired. So there is no “date”, I guess. It had been the same with the Exo-Suit.
“Holy Lego set, Batman!” as Robin would probably say following the purchase of this awe-inspiring Lego set. This Lego set is one of the best around, with an array of detailed pieces and intricate designs. Some of the pieces included in the set are Alfred the Butler, Batman (black suit), Bruce Wayne, Robin, Mr. Freeze (with complete weapon assembly), Mr. Freeze’s Henchman, The Penguin, Robin’s jet-ski, the Batblade ice sledge, and the Penguin’s submarine.
Recreate the action and adventure of the Star Wars™ movies with the ultimate Death Star playset. This amazingly detailed battle station features an incredible array of minifigure-scale scenes, moving parts, characters and accessories from Episodes IV and VI on its multiple decks, including the Death Star control room, rotating turbolaser turrets, hangar bay with TIE Advanced starfighter, tractor beam controls, Emperor’s throne room, detention block, firing laser cannon, Imperial conference chamber, droid maintenance facility, and the powerful Death Star superlaser…plus much more! Swing across the chasm with Luke and Leia, face danger in the crushing trash compactor, and duel with Darth Vader for the fate of the galaxy. Includes 24 minifigures and droids, plus all-new Dianoga™ trash compactor monster. Also includes Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi™, C-3PO™, R2-D2™, Princess Leia™, Chewbacca™, Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight), Darth Vader™, Grand Moff Tarkin™, Emperor Palpatine™, 2 Stormtroopers, 2 Emperor’s Royal Guards™, R2-Q5™, and mouse droid.
Below is a list of LEGO sets that are at risk of retiring soon in and around the 2018 calendar year. It is organized into sets that are at a high risk of retiring soon, medium risk, and low risk. Note that LEGO retirement dates are not an exact science and all sets that have been available for sufficiently long can be discontinued at any time, with no notice. Let us know your thoughts and leave a comment below.
Includes 3 minifigures: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jango Fett and young Boba Fett with mini legs, plus an R4-P17 Astromech droid figure. Features Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter and a buildable hyperdrive. Jedi Starfighter features an opening minifigure cockpit, space for the R4-P17 Astromech droid top section (with storage space for the torso inside the ship) and 2 stud shooters. Hyperdrive features 2 spring-loaded shooters, big engines and a quick-release grab handle for enhanced play.
This set has been sold out from Lego for some time now and has been discontinued so the price is only going to go up from here, so if you don’t have this one yet, this is your chance to get it before …
People also like to break up sets to sell the pieces individually on eBay, as they may make more money that way. The mini-figures are the most-valuable, some going for $40 each, even used! You might score a Harry Potter set for a (relative) song without any mini-figures, but your child might not be overjoyed, as the play value seems to depend on having the right beloved characters.
Rinse and dry bricks once color is restored. This typically takes about four to six hours. This time varies depending on the strength of the sunlight and the age of the hydrogen peroxide. Once done, transfer the bricks to a colander, rinse them, and air dry.
You won’t probably even recall a Sandcrawler that much from Episode IV, except for the fact that it’s full with Jawas and they sell C3-PO and R2-D2 to Luke Skywalker, but the LEGO version of this vehicle is full-packed with details.
While you’ll get the same kind of mixed bag at the online Goodwill Store, I think there is a greater chance that you’ll likely get more pieces and here’s the kicker if you are lucky – if you buy it from a location near you, you can just PICK IT UP and NOT PAY FOR SHIPPING those 15+ pounds of LEGO bricks (Sometimes shipping is $20-$30 UGH!)
This is an HD video tutorial on how to use Bricklink to buy the individual pieces for a retired Lego set for a much better price than you can find on eBay or Amazon. The example I use in this video is for Lego Technic 8275. This 2007 set retailed for $150 and was discontinued in March 2008. The set costs over $650 on third party sites. However, when one strategically selects used parts from Bricklink the set can be built as designed by Lego for pennies on the dollar compared to third party website prices. In my example, I was able to obtain 95% of the required parts from one seller for a cost of $150… not bad considering on eBay it was going for $750 and over $800 on Amazon.
Many collectors have been asking for years now, is the LEGO Death Star retiring? Set 10188 has had a seven year lifespan so far which is unheard of for any LEGO set, especially one this large. But the Death Star… Continue Reading →
Legos in a complete set, who knew?. We had Legos as kids back in the ’60s & 70s. We would buy the blocks in very small sets as our allowance would slowly accumulate. My younger brother over time made some absolutely incredible creations using a mishmash of block sizes and styles. We would have wet our pants with happiness to receive an integrated SET. And this one is fantastic, especially being a Star Wars fan, having seen the original Star Wars movie in college over and over again…. Well worth the cost, and glad I have this set!!
I got told by a member of staff in the Meadowhall Lego store when I bought Ecto 1 that most ideas sets only get a 1 year production run, ecto 1 got extended because of the GB firehouse set that came out this year, I don’t know if that’s true but it’s what I got told.

We have a huge selection of discontinued lego sets for sale at some of the best prices in the UK. Our range of products is always growing. We have sets from many themes including Star Wars, Architecture, City, Creator, Technic, Ninjago, Hero Factory, Friends and many more. You are in the right place if you are looking for the best deals.
My daughter is young, but already computer literate enough to search eBay for Harry Potter Lego Sets.  The prices for complete Harry Potter sets tends to be sky high (eBay prices are second only to the after-market prices on Amazon) — although you can find bargains if you pay attention. You might find a loose set (no box, most of the pieces) for 1/2 to 3/4 of the (after-market) price of the unopened box, but that’s still expensive (as they’re going for three times the retail price when in-stores) and slightly dodgy, as you don’t know for sure that all the pieces are there until you build the set.
Twenty-two years after Star Wars was released, LEGO and Lucasfilm worked together to produce products in time for the release of Episode I in May 1999. The first sets were released under the LEGO System brand and consisted of eight sets from Episode I and five sets (13 in total) from the original trilogy films, including the first LEGO Star Wars X-wing (#7140) and Snowspeeder (#7130). Both of these sets have been revisited again many times in minifigure scale, MINI or even Ultimate Collectors Series (UCS) form — each new release bringing new features, new minifigures and new colored bricks and pieces too.
So many new LEGO sets were released this month which have been keeping LEGO fans busy. I wanted to bring to your attention that if you are shopping online, a lot of the older LEGO sets just went on sale. So if you are buying some of the new sets but your total doesn’t meet the minimum for free shipping, you might consider taking a look at the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop. Please note that LEGO putting sets on sale means that these products are getting retired. Once they are gone they are gone. Below are some of the highlights. 🙂
Kristie Bertucci is an L.A.-based writer, who can’t live without her MacBook Pro. When she’s not writing, she’s either reading or shopping (online, of course) and loves lazy days so she can catch up on her DVR-recorded shows and movies. She’s definitely a Mac girl, she loves music and is currently on a mission to to have an insane and enviable iTunes library.
Yeah, it is a good idea to keep a balance. Some sets/themes are worth letting go, other’s are worth to keep. I know many people who greatly selling their collection, others are afraid to sell them and are burried under boxes they never even opened. For me the judgement to sell anything (LEGO or otherwise) is that if I haven’t touched it/used it for 6 months, it is time to let it go and have someone else enjoy it. This also opens up space (and money) for new things in my life. So it’s a win-win. 😉

They don’t always discontinue them– the best example I can think of is probably the Star Destroyer, which was around longer than LEGO initially expected, thanks to excellent sales. They offered it in catalogs from at least 2002 to 2007 (6 years). If they offered the UCS MF that long, it would be in catalogs until at least 2012!
LEGO 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer retiring at the end of this year is highly likely. This medium sized Star Wars set is approaching the end of its lifespan and is unlikely to be produced again soon. The previous Star Destroyer,… Continue Reading →
Lego discontinues sets for a lot of different reasons… Mostly because of demand for parts I am sure, they cannot thin out their lines to keep 1000 more sets in production, plus sets get old, they do.. most people buy one and they want to see the next one out.. therefore if they were to make more of them then no one would buy.. and no, only selling 3 sets to people over 1 year is not their idea of good sales…. Then they would need to list a lot of their warehouse for 50% off.. again not something they want to do…. I mean look at the steamrollers and pig farms, which would not die… I think the biggest reason is to keep the lines fresh.. not to mention sets can come back at times (see the Metroliner, Main street, Black Falcons Fortress and Guarded Inn and recently the Maersk Container ship).
Im not sure whats going on, i think they are updating the website. Like the LOTR section doesnt have any of the old sets, the hobbit and other themes have zero listings lol As of last night orc forge was still listed as retiring soon and was “temp out of stock”
While most of the LEGO Star Wars faithful has now fixed their gaze on the grandest reveal that LEGO has slated this Force Friday II, it seems that we can expect more LEGO Star Wars sets to be unveiled towards the end of the year and even until the first quarter of 2018. read more
Carbon Freezing Chamber (75137):  Another iconic moment in the Star Wars universe captured perfectly on a small scale.  Boba Fett and Han are here (along with Ugnaught) to recreate the freezing scene.
Hey, I had the same thought as you. The set it way too expensive to buy and I want to actually have it assembled, not for collecting. Would you be able to share with me how you were able to get all the pieces and obtain the instructions?
Most of the remaining Harry Potter Lego sets were apparently snapped up in stores during the Christmas rush, and now it’s hard to find Harry Potter Lego sets at a reasonable price. (Evidently, it’s not a new thing for investors to buy up collectible toys like this, and resell them online for two or three times the price.) What’s a geeky Dad to do? I want to encourage creative play and nurture her individual interests, but the prices of these hard-to-find Harry Potter Legos sets are eye-popping!

Welp, time to bite the bullet on the Ewok Village. Both it and the Sandcrawler are 12% off on Amazon. The Sandcrawler is still a better buy (over 3000 pieces vs. the Ewok Village’s not-even-2000), but the Village seems to be more playable. Honestly, I’m a little surprised the Ewok Village was still around–didn’t it come out in 2013?
The first step in putting together an old LEGO set is making sure you can get your hands on the instructions. Some people are happy to just download the instructions to their computer from an online source, others buy the original instruction booklets on BrickLink or eBay. If the set is really valuable, the instruction booklets will be expensive also, so you may just want to stay with downloadable instructions. You can find instructions for all recently released LEGO sets on LEGO’s own website. And there are also other websites that catalog the instructions for older LEGO sets. No matter which way you go, it helps to have the exact LEGO set number to find the instruction you want. The instructions are the key piece of putting together any LEGO set, so before you do anything else you need to make sure you get this.
Finally, at the risk of sounding like a shill for Lego, the Creator section of the Lego website has a nice collection of short videos that feature their own designers explaining advanced building techniques. These videos mesh nicely with this set.
Great product, best suited for those age 10 and up, I would say. I bought this for my almost 6 year old son and we definitely had to help him build. The detail is amazing and product as expected, but it was overwhelming for him without lots of help. He had a blast once we were involved, but I would probably buy the Juniors versions for his age from now on, unless I plan on working on it too. He’s very proud of it though!

The gate is approximately 10.5 inches tall, 5 inches across, and 2.5 inches deep with the drawbridge up. The drawbridge is able to raise and lower via ropes winding around a rod connected to knobs on the side. The gate raises and lowers in a similar fashion, although it does not have the same resistance. A lock is included on the side to keep the gate in one position.

Our first entry from Rogue One, Krennic’s shuttle offers a fun build of the Imperial starship belonging to the most hated character in the great Rogue One movie.  Along with a great Krennic minifiguring, you get a K-2S0 droid, two Imperial Death Troopers, Pao, and Bodhi Rook.  The attention to detail on the minifigurines is great, the K-2S0 is a personal favorite.  Our favorite part about this build is that is just looks cool.  The design is a sleek, black pyramid shape which makes it stand out even among some iconic Star Wars startships.  Being able to move the massive wings is a joy.  The ship comes with a couple of spring loaded blasters which are always a plus in our book.  The build for this set isn’t terribly long, but remains fun.  Krennic’s shuttle might not be canon in the Star Wars universe, but this is a great set and worth checking out.
When you sell LEGO you basically have two options; you either do all the work yourself of taking pictures, advertising, packing, shipping, etc. or you have someone else do it for you. If you do it yourself you will maximize your profits, but it will also take up significant amount of your time. If you ask someone else to do it, they will have to do all the work of reselling themselves, so you can’t expect them to pay you top price.
The design uses a fair amount of interlocking within each tower and wall section, allowing them to stand up to play fairly well. The sections fit together with each other in a modular way. With a throne room, treasure room, prison, two catapults, arbalest, postern gate, and a working drawbridge and portcullis in the main gate, there is tremendous play value in the castle. However, don’t try to pick up the castle as a whole to move it, as that will cause it to come apart around the joints between the sections. Slide it onto something flat and solid instead.

Crazy number of trains, multiple tracks, storage Thomas, roaring dinosaur ramps, bridges, train station, book box set, individual books (including one from library discontinued we bought second hand) and more. Son outgrown it now we are in LEGO phase! No time wasters this is a great collection.
In the Fall 2017 catalog some sets have the term “Last Chance!” above the price. The description in the catalog’s legend says specifically that a product with that label will be retiring soon. A list of those sets are as follows:
So, if a lot of the elements are still being produced for other sets, that’ll bring down the cost. And similarly, if there aren’t many new products for a given year (new SKUs), it’ll increase the likelihood of an older product sticking around (LEGO has a limited number of SKUs available every year– effectively the barcodes for items).
@myscrnnm: On most tape-sealed LEGO boxes there is a printed production run code on one of the seals, e.g. XXS6 with XX being the week of production, with S being Europe and 6 being 2016 (or 2006). On glued boxes the code is embossed or, since recently on some sets, printed.
They even manage to maintain some minor level of screen accuracy (to reason of course). Many recall the scene from Star Wars (Ep. IV 1977) where Luke, Chewy and Han spring Leia from her prison cell aboard the Death Star then flee into the garbage chute, only to face the Dianoga and imminently collapsing walls of the compactor. You can recreate this scene exactly. And I recently discovered you can even throw the minifigures into the garbage chute and they will land in the garbage compactor. There is also a lever that then allows you to collapse the walls. There are even little bits of garbage and the dreaded Dianoga included.

I’m a big lego fan and really like this castle. The only problem with it really is that the Gate section falls apart easily, which is a pain because it takes a long time to build. I added some solid bricks on the inside of the gate walls and that helped give it more stability. The kids in my 5 – 7 year old classroom loved it, as does my daughter.
We all know which past sets have gone up in value.  We do enjoy the benefit of hindsight when it comes to the retired older sets.  But what are those sets currently shipping today that might go up in value
One thing I was impressed with this set while building is how large and simple the pieces were, and how straight forward construction was. Compared to say, set 9474 Lord of the Rings Battle of Helms Deep, this set was downright easy. Other than having to tie one knot and also decorating several pieces with a sheet of stickers, I’d say that younger children (ages 7-8) would have a pretty easy time putting the rest of this set together. Having put together this set, I’d say this is a very good value.

TECHNIC Figures are figures that appeared in TECHNIC sets, especially from the CyberSlam/Competition line. They were first introduced in 1986 in the Arctic Action line, and were produced until 2001. They are much larger and have several more joints than the standard minifigure, including bendable elbow and knee-joints. Each figure comes already assembled and is not meant to come apart, but parts can be popped off by pulling too hard. They can connect to both standard LEGO System bricks and on TECHNIC parts, and TECHNIC pegs can fit in their hands. 27 different kinds of Technic figures were created,[6] some sets included the same figures but with different accessories and stickers.

Lego collectors and enthusiasts just can’t wait to get their hands on the next most expensive Lego sets and pieces. The one-of-a-kind platinum Avohkii mask of Light from the discontinued Lego Bionicle line is believed to be the most expensive Lego piece ever sold, selling for a whopping $15,000 in 2012, according to Press Democrat. Lego collectors are imaginative, inventive people who are fascinated by building and creating masterpieces from the best Lego sets they can find. So, are you a Lego collector on the hunt for the next best Lego set? Well, we’ve done the research for you and have listed the 7 Most Expensive Lego Sets available today:
I think a hospital or school might be too large. Instead of a hospital I could imagine a health clinic (pharmacy, dentist, general practitioner) . Instead of a school I could picture a childcare centre (play equipment, nursery, kid’s art projects).
If you’re a collector looking to grab as many of the architecture sets as you can, you’ll be pleased to know the scale of the Capitol building matches the scale used for other Washington D.C. sets created within the Architecture sub-series, including specifically the Lincoln Memorial, making it a great choice for fans of politics or United States history specifically. The set weighs a little under four pounds in total, and the sheer number of pieces—basically makes it a poor fit for children looking to build the set on their own. However, we think this set is great for puzzle collectors and history fans alike, and would make a great bonding experience with your kids, so long as they’re willing to play with a building instead of a spaceship set. If you’re looking for a complex set that is a perfect match between “responsible adult” options and the fun of playing with Legos, you’ll have to check out the Capitol Building set from the Architecture line. It’s one of our favorites.
Space Port was released four years after Launch Command and is often seen as a continuation of that theme due to its similar logo and status as a Lego Town Subtheme. Space Port took the Launch Command concept and expanded upon it into new areas such as astronaut training and scientific experiments. The Space Port theme took a slightly less realistic approach to set design compared to Launch command, and some sets featured special Light & Sound bricks to enhance playability.
The main reason why sets like Cafe Corner go through the roof when discontinued is because no one buys them (mostly because of cost), they then get discontinued, then all of the sudden those who were waiting for a sale to get them cheap now need to go buy one, causing a price to raise…

“lego 10235 retired -discontinued lego online games”

Many collectors have been asking for years now, is the LEGO Death Star retiring? Set 10188 has had a seven year lifespan so far which is unheard of for any LEGO set, especially one this large. But the Death Star… Continue Reading →

Luke’s Landspeeder (75173):  There’s a lot to love here with the classic landspeeder build which also includes three classic minifigurines: Luke, C3PO, and Obi-Wan (or Ben, if you prefer) Kenobi. The Tusken Raider also looks fantastic.

I bought this set to compliment my Lego Simpsons House as it doesn’t look like one is in the works at the moment. I’m glad to hear the Kwik E Mart is coming through. The build was straight forward and the amount of pieces is decent. The biggest complaint is that there is no tree elements present. I have a healthy adult imagine, but come on this is the worst excuse for a tree even though this is a Creator set. Maybe the small builders won’t mind so much, but the first thing I did upon completion was spend another $15 on Ebay ordering tree elements (branches, etc) to bulk up this set and give it some character. I’m waiting on the pieces as they should be delivered in the next couple of days.
Hm… that’s an interesting point. And very well could be. I do remember hearing that LEGO will rename the Disney Princess line to simply Disney. Looks like this is going to be a much bigger theme for LEGO, not just pink castles for girls. I expect more awesome sets on the level of the Disney Castle. But we will see… 🙂
My Uncle Pat, about 12 years my senior, gave me his original Lego set. (He regrets that now. Imagine what THAT would go for on eBay!) I think we only had a handful of colors, too, but those little plastic bricks provided hours of creative entertainment.
Judith, individual sellers could be getting their stock from various places. We do get regular sales on Dimensions sets – usually 50% off, sometimes more. Also, the dollar is pretty strong now compared to the pound, so there is that as well. I also shop from international sellers from time to time. European sellers usually have a much better stock on rare parts and colors. 🙂

If find the challenges of putting together a set fun in itself. I’m currently putting together 10231 Space Shuttle Explorer, 10197 Fire Station, 8480 Technic Space Shuttle and 6395 Victory Raceway (which I desperately wanted, but never owned as a kid). I could easily buy them on eBay or elsewhere, but the challenge of this is far more interesting.
I had asked, and your response led to me buying it yesterday! I am currently about to start on the second half and could not be happier with the detail and techniques found throughout the first half of the build, I am excited to finish it later today.
Hm… yeah, for large sets like this it is a good idea to keep the boxes, but it is not necessary. If you bought the set for yourself and have no intention of selling it, there is no reason to keep the box (unless you really like it and want to keep it). If you do plan to sell it, it doesn’t make a huge difference in the resale price of a used set to have or not have the box. Most people will throw it away anyway.
➡ #60098 LEGO CITY HEAVY-HAUL TRAIN: This set includes everything you need for a motorized LEGO train system; a heavy-haul train with 8-channel, 7-speed infrared remote control, hopper wagon, 2 flatbed wagons, helicopter, backhoe and a crane, plus 16 curved tracks, 12 straight tracks, and five minifigures. LEGO trains with a full package of LEGO Power Functions elements and the tracks are rare, and are always a great value, especially when they occasionally go on sale. Please note that this set is also marked as retiring soon. Regular Price: $199.99 – Sale price: $159.99 – BUY HERE
I know this because I got hit with flooding twice in the last year. On top of loosing stuff I also want stuff. Especially the Slave I. I called Lego and told them everything that was going on and how much I wanted the set. They researched what they could but in the end they just don’t have that information very far in advance. They did send me an email letting me know that based on how long it has been out I probably have time.
Thank goodness we saved the instructions. That is another money saving tip.  They (or you) can rebuild it if it falls on the floor by accident.   It can be a lot of work but it really prevents me from buying more LEGOs.  It’s good modeling for the kids.  Pictured: LEGO Creator Hillside House
In 2000 we got our first two UCS sets, the X-wing Fighter (#7191) and the TIE Interceptor (#7181). This X-wing fighter was the largest LEGO Star Wars set to date with 1,300 pieces. That year also saw the first Technic Star Wars sets in the form of a Pit Droid (#8000), Battle Droid (#8001), and Destroyer Droid (#8002). In total 19 sets were released in 2000, including the first LEGO System version of the Slave I (#7144) and Millennium Falcon (#7190). This year also saw the first LEGO Star Wars key rings to be released which included Darth Vader (not included in set counts).

Jabba’s Palace is the first Lego set I have purchased/used since I was a kid. I bought this for my 6 year old daughter because she loves all things Star Wars now. I was very impressed with all of the new engineered style pieces this set included. The engineering they must put it to these new sets is amazing. The play set can open/close by folding it in half. This is accomplished by an a few simple Lego pieces allowing for a hinge. This play set even has to portions that perform a sliding effect. One of the sliding effects is used to open the trap door in front of Jabba’s platform, like in the Return of the Jedi movie. The other sliding portion will push the Jabba platform forward. I was very impressed with the way these worked and enjoyed building them with my daughter.

Why would LEGO discontinue sets that are still insanely popular? Example being the UCS Millenium Falcon. It would obviously still sell, look at the prices it is commanding online now. Seems to me LEGO is giving up profits. I know some people buy sets hoping the price will rise, and that is all well and good, but some of us just really enjoy assembling, displaying and looking at our collections. I am like a few others in here that have an entire room devoted to LEGO. I have sets I could sell but honestly I probably never will. I find myself alot just sitting there looking around at my sets and honestly it really relaxes me. Same with building. I am married and have 5 daughters…..yes….DAUGHTERS and when I am building I can just focus on that and ignore the chaos around me. It is very theraputic. Anyways, I got a little side tracked, as far as my original question does anyone know why LEGO would intentionally stop the most popular sets, and what are your opinions about this? Also, and I know no one can know for sure, but what do you think the chances are that they would ever re-release the UCS sets?

While you are researching prices, keep in mind that if you plan to stretch out building a set over months or years, equaling the going rate of the set is not a bad thing. However even if you are doing things the long way, you should never spend more than the going rate. Your personal preferences may differ, but essentially you are giving up more LEGO pieces when you spend more. Once your budget is established, you can then determine if the project is worth your time. You know what you like to spend and what you are capable of affording. This early stage is a final check to figure out whether or not you will move forward with the project.

I got told by a member of staff in the Meadowhall Lego store when I bought Ecto 1 that most ideas sets only get a 1 year production run, ecto 1 got extended because of the GB firehouse set that came out this year, I don’t know if that’s true but it’s what I got told.
Yes thats actually what happened to me, I recovered an old catalog from 2007, flipped through it, and found the Cafe Corner. My eyes widened as I drooled over the set (its price was listed as $130.) I couldnt find it on legoshop.com, so I looked on eBay and found one for $1040. I was then really disappointed, because I could never afford it at that price…

Thanks Seamus for the reminder – I added information on the newly announced Assembly Square set today! I also appreciated your comments earlier this year regarding ideas for new modular designs. Looks like Lego took you advice with the dentist office 🙂 Although I also agree with you that a police station and post office (as well as a hospital) are still sorely needed and would be a great “connection” with other sets. I didn’t actually do this but I think, right now, (late 2012) if you want new copies of each, you are looking at around 3500-4000 USD, plus or minus. (Quick check, the cheapest new, MISB Cafe Corner is 1300ish, Green Grocer about 500ish and Market Street around 1300 as well… the others are less since they are still in production, yoiu can probably get all 4 for less than a grand…)

Groovy.
Market Street has some interesting build techniques and I like the color scheme, but on the whole, it isn’t up to snuff with the rest of the line. The roof looks unfinished, and the bizarre looking single story side market just doesn’t fit in with the row of modulars at all. The final nail in the coffin is that it had an even shorter production run than it’s counterparts, so it’s aftermarket price is further out of proportion.
The only surprise here is that 2011’s Volkswagen T1 Camper Van was given the redesigned box treatment. It has been widely expected that this set would retire soon, and it still may, but an updated box does potentially indicate that there is still some time left on that set before it retires.

@mrpole: you definitely have to do your research for each particular set. For example, Market Street is going for $500 on Bricklink the last time I saw. You would think that since the set includes about 1000 pieces, you could get the set for $150 if you can get pieces at an average of $.15. Unfortunately there are several rare elements to this set that drive up the cost. For example the set requires 5 dark blue arches ($10/ea), 79 dark blue 1×4 bricks ($1/ea), 4 white hoses ($5/ea)…. if you add just those together you’re paying $149 for 88 of the 1000+ pieces. That’s not including shipping. I’m not discouraging you doing it, but make sure it’s feasible before you start…. get the rare elements first, otherwise you’ll be left with a big hole in your project. Another thing to consider is to wait and hope that some of these rare parts are included in future sets for possible cannibalization.
I’ll be bricklinking all 6 of the retired modulars: TH, CC, GG, FB, GE, and MS. I don’t mind swapping the high dollar parts out for cheaper ones, as these are more for display and I don’t plan to resell them. I’ve found a couple good resources for subbing the parts: here, here, and here.
Jamie Berard and I have traded Emails in the past (I didn’t know it was him talking on the videos, since I didn’t see his name on Youtube, plus I never met him in person…) but he did buy my first LEGO CD (1949-80) 2 years ago…. and he’s a brilliant builder…

Sacrebleu! Recreating this iconic French landmark in LEGO form takes 3,428 bricks. Most of them are titchy and gray. It’s a careful balancing act to get them all together without knocking the whole thing over, as well. This kit is aimed at ages 16 and up, and it’s a very precise and challenging project. Best of luck to anyone out there attempting it!
This set took me about 6-7 hours to complete and it is magnificent!
LEGO kits don’t come much more difficult than this: the second Death Star consists of 3,417 pieces, plus it has a ‘half-finished’ state as its intended final look. Tough stuff! Once you’ve constructed this technological terror, you’ll want to put it in pride of place. Thankfully, it comes with a little stand to let you do just that.

For some reason, Lego decided to revive an obscure line from ’79 targeted at young girls. The one thing that kept the Scala doll line remotely attached to the Lego brand was the use of some bricks in the play sets, and from ’97-’98, the brick studs were in flower-shapes incompatible with other Lego sets.

So, what do you think – ready to design and build your own Lego modular? Assuming you have enough pieces, it is not as hard as it looks – at least to build the exterior of a building. Simply begin with a board and create the bottom shape (you can copy from another modular if you like) then keep building up adding doors, windows, etc. The real challenge comes when you start designing the interior – all of those little details and making them fit together can be overwhelming.

Surprisingly, the sleek, AT-AT-toppling Snowspeeder is rarer than its space-based brethren the X-Wing Fighter. As one of the early entries in the sought-after Ultimate Collector Series, the Snowspeeder unfortunately doesn’t include a minifigure for Luke Skywalker’s short-lived co-pilot Dak Ralter. Poor Dak.
Let the pieces soak. Leave them to soak for at least ten minutes, then check up on them. If the water is extremely murky, replace it with fresh soapy water and leave to soak for a full hour, or overnight if convenient.
REALITY it’s location, location, location! What has all of our parents said to use at least a 1000 times on your life span???? “If I only kept that box it came in.” Yeah you have the the first two in the series bUT do you have the boxes for them?
➡ LEGO JUNIORS SETS ON SALE: LEGO Juniors is also having a major clearance with nine sets on sale. These are smaller sets in the $10-$25 range, but they are full of interesting parts, colors, minifigs and printed parts. You can find them under the LEGO Juniors section or under Sales and Deals at the Online LEGO Shop.
Aye, Lego mateys! When it comes to purchasing this amazing ship, Lego collectors and pirate lovers are ready to ‘walk the plank’ and dive in. Released in 1993, this set includes a large three-masted pirate ship, nine pirate figurines, a rowboat, a shark, and much more. This ship is armed with four cannons that are mounted on turntables that slide from port to starboard. Included on either side of the poop deck are two smaller non-functional cannons.
Force Friday II is right around the corner, and with it will come a barrage of new Star Wars merch to hype us up for The Last Jedi. We don’t really need to be hyped up for the next film in the Star Wars saga, but if there has been one thing synonymous with the franchise it’s merchandising.

But I did it for my kids.  Number 1 Son loves LEGOs.  So many children do but do parents and teachers love LEGO too?  Maybe, but how about buying LEGO?  I am not in love with shopping for LEGOs- it’s work!  For one, those sets make me crazy.  They are so expensive and after they fall apart (because no child will let you glue them), there are many pieces that are not open-ended enough to inspire more building.
You can get all the pieces you need by just building up a Wanted List on BrickLink and seeing which shops have the best prices and quantity. You can also get the instruction booklets on BrickLink, or just get the PDF version online.
The gate is approximately inches tall, 5 inches across, and 2.5 inches deep with the drawbridge up. The drawbridge is able to raise and lower via ropes winding around a rod connected to knobs on the side. The gate raises and lowers in a similar fashion, although it does not have the same resistance. A lock is included on the side to keep the gate in one position.
I would love if LEGO would make that Minas Tirith into a set. It is beautiful, not too big, not too small – just right. I’m not sure how they will handle it though that the films are going to be over. It could be a very nice final set though for the theme.

Giving a child a book of building plans is akin to giving new life to the bricks you already have in your possession. Go one step further by containerizing a bunch of bricks the kids have forgotten about or sitting with them to organize their current collection.
But while they are great for specific parts, you should only use this service for a few rare parts you can’t find anywhere else. In my experience BrickLink prices are usually 30-50% below the offical Lego prices, or even more for very common pieces.
@ suckerpunch83 is right. All sets made by TLG are in production long enough everybody who wants it can get it. There is and always will be a problem with “my personal demand/my finance ratio” and even welthy people can’t afford to buy all sets they want. In polish language there is proverb “life is an art of choice”.
Now you need to go to File > Import > Bricklink Set Inventory. On Category choose [All Items] and on Filter type the Millennium Falcon set number 10179. BOOM. Done. You have a list with all the parts that form this set.
Above all, make sure the listing states that the lot is 99% or 100% genuine Lego Brand.  If they didn’t state that in their description, then take the time to e-mail them to ask.  It is definitely worth it!
