This was a gift for my son for the holidays and I am pleased with it. He enjoys legos and everything Batman so this was a clear choice when I needed to find stuff for him. This set was cute and I couldn’t find a similar one in stores locally so I was happy to find one on Amazon. Starting in 1958, the hollow-based plastic brick with top studs became known as the Lego Brick. Since then, the simple form has been inspiring generations of builders to create to their fullest potential. With the addition of the standard smiling minifigure in 1978, Legos became a plastic representation of human possibility. With a little imagination and a lot of Legos, the possibilities were endless. The first Lego space set became available in 1979. This was the first themed set; available with special features and bricks that were unattainable elsewhere.
I haven’t bought anything from the bricklink vendors. I have been slowly sorting my Lego bricks and use the part and set catalogs at Bricklink to reference the part #s, colors, etc. so that I can put them into http://www.rebrickable.com (another site worth looking into).

The ground floor is the ticket and concessions area leading up to the theater floor housing a reel-to-reel projector showing a black and white motion picture to a maximum seating of six. This floor also has stairs accessing the roof, atop which the two brick-built promotional searchlights can be placed. The set includes six minifigures.
The “fiber optics” in this this Technic kit are actually clear plastic tubes that connect to a battery-operated LED-light pack. These specialized parts more to produce than the entire set was being sold for.
Lego Designer Jamie Berard created many Modulars Buildings and decided to make a mini version of his set for fun.[18] Five of these were then released as a single set 10230 containing 1356 pieces, each one on an 8×8 baseplate, making them quarter-scale with respect to the original buildings. Initially this set was for Lego Group VIPs only, but it later became available for general sale.
I mainly collect Technic and Star Wars sets, but I’ve always admired the detail in the modular buildings. Is it worth getting into the modular buildings now that I can no longer get the Town Hall, Emporium, etc. without paying ridiculous prices? I’m not that bothered by missing out on the grocer or firehouse or stuff like that, but the look of the town hall kind of ties a downtown area together and the emporium gave a shopping district. Anyone know if LEGO plans on continuing this series for a long time? Missing 3-4 of buildings won’t be a huge deal if we know that there are going to be 5 or 10 more released in the future.
There have been scheduling challenges faced in the design of the Modular Houses sets. For the Green Grocer set, the designer believed that the set could have benefited from another design iteration before release. The detailed nature of these sets requires a greater amount of design time than a normal Lego set. It is expected that future sets in the series will not suffer from such schedule pressures.[10]
