Cylinders look like pumps, but they are the outputs of the energy, rather than the inputs. There are five versions of cylinders. The Generation 1 cylinders came in two lengths, only had one input and worked on pressure or vacuum. The Generation 2 cylinders have 2 inputs (and come in studded, studless, and small versions), and work on pressure in both directions. They allow pushing and pulling, depending on which input air is pumped into.
I also missed the Cafe Corner… though looking back it’s because I didn’t have the money. I’d say these are more for the AFOL who commit to City designs. So the only advantage to building minifig scale streets is if you want to make a huge Lego town. Lets face it… the direction it’s heading is far more expensive then we imagine. I like many different themes and would rather get a lot of different stuff than build a town. I feel bad about missing out on a cool series of sets, but every year I see plenty of other cool sets to keep my wallet empty. Unless you really like modern city don’t bother… the Ebay re-seller world makes collecting Lego horrible.
Yes thats actually what happened to me, I recovered an old catalog from 2007, flipped through it, and found the Cafe Corner. My eyes widened as I drooled over the set (its price was listed as $130.) I couldnt find it on legoshop.com, so I looked on eBay and found one for $1040. I was then really disappointed, because I could never afford it at that price…

^ I agree, they do risk straining the bubble a bit with the minifigs generating a certain collecting culture, but look at it this way, if they sell 3 modulars per customer, I bet they’ll not be complaining 🙂
Get ready for the biggest, most complex LEGO Technic model ever – the Mobile Crane MK II! Drive this 2,606-piece behemoth of a model into position with the cool 8-wheel steering and rotate the superstructure. Then activate the included LEGO Power Functions motor to extend the outriggers, lower the feet and extend or raise the crane arm up to 77cm into the air. Lower the hook with the working winch and get ready to lift the load! This authentic 2-in-1 model also features 10 wheels, 5 axles and a detailed V8 motor with moving pistons. Rebuilds into a container stacker and truck featuring Power Functions motor-powered extending and raising boom.
This was my son’s (9 yrs) big Christmas present and we built it as family during the 2 days after Christmas. It did take alot of time to build, but there is such variety in the building that we never felt bored. In fact both my husband and I were caught sneaking off and working on it by ourselves. A month later and my son is still playing with it. The way the floors break apart makes it much more conducive to playing or just moving the mini figures around. The elevator is definitely my son’s favorite feature — mine too. This is probably not the best choice for your first big Lego build, but for the intermediate level and up it is rewarding. Check out the YouTube video of the actual designer doing a demo if you want a more detailed look at the building itself.
Legos’ quality has been consistently good since my grandson’s father (my son) first played with them as a little boy. I am always pleased to give Legos as a gift, and pleased that once again, Amazon came through for me!!
This set has incredible detail, and is fun to build. I built this set (Dad), and each of my boys built the other two (Fire Brigade and Pet Shop) . The build was enjoyable, and it was fun to watch them come together. in fact, we enjoyed it so much, that we started building the sets on a Sunday morning together, and we all stayed with it until the sets were done a few hours later. It was a fun family project.
Here’s another gem from the LEGO Creator line: A beautiful Taj Mahal build, which consists of a whopping 5,922 pieces. It’s designed for expert builders, and it measures up at 41cm tall by 51cm wide. As an added bonus, a lot of the bricks are unique to this kit, created just to bring this Indian icon to life in the best way possible.
I wanted to build a big set, and display it at my house. So, off to google we go, and search Biggest Lego set EVER. Mmmhh… the Taj Majal it’s not what I have in mind for a Star Wars related set. Ok, let’s look at the second biggest one. A-HA! We have a winner!. At 5195 pieces, the Ultimate Collection Series Millennium Falcon is what I was looking for! Let’s buy that one…
I’ve always been a fan of the Town Plan system… not just because I grew up with it, but also I like the very high quality (and very expensive and collectible today) 1:87 vehicles and other accessories that gave it a more realistic look than much of the LEGO of today. I dislike the conical and spherical trees of today… but find the larger use of “greenery canopy” MOC trees very nicely done. And I dislike many of the modern LEGO cars made for the minifigs as looking too “cartoonish”… although I do like the newer LEGO trains very much.
Sacrebleu! Recreating this iconic French landmark in LEGO form takes 3,428 bricks. Most of them are titchy and gray. It’s a careful balancing act to get them all together without knocking the whole thing over, as well. This kit is aimed at ages 16 and up, and it’s a precise and challenging project. Best of luck to anyone out there attempting it!

The newest LEGO Modular Buildings – the #10232 LEGO Creator Palace Cinema, and the #10243 LEGO Creator Parisian Restaurant – are shown as available. I just finished building the #10243 LEGO Creator Parisian Restaurant, and I will say this; if you only buy one LEGO Modular set, get this one. I enjoyed every step of the building process and the final model is just so lovely. Building adult-oriented sets is so different from building regular LEGO sets; they are so much denser, there is so much more detail, and the techniques used are so interesting. I don’t know how many times I said to myself during building “Wow! It’s so cool how they did that!”

Axles – Axles, sometimes known as cross axles, are cross-shaped rods. They are most often used in rotating parts. When inserted into beam holes, they can turn freely. Like beams, axles are measured in stud lengths; axles with even lengths are colored black, and axles with odd lengths are colored grey. There are some specialty axles that are colored differently.
For the Lego collectors who love Batman, this set is to die for because it includes more than figurines and vehicles. This set also comes with Batman’s high-tech Bat Cave features control center, prison cell, and rocket and net launcher as well as other working gadgets like the costume transformation chamber.
My boys have spent hours playing with this set in the bath! They have loads of fun and use lots of imagination. They did break it into a few pieces after having it in the tub a few times, but that is to be expected. We just fix it real quick and it is ready to go in the tub for some more fun. You get so much with this set. There is a large Coast Guard boat, a helicopter, a patrol boat, a submarine, a lighthouse, 6 minifigs, a dog, a crab, and 3 sharks (awesome fun in the tub). If you are considering this set, just buy it! I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed in this amazing Coast Guard set.
I purchased this for my 10 year son who is a lego fanatic. For some reason Amazon wouldn’t post it so it was delivered to my sister in Vegas and flown out. This Town Hall is amazing, it took my son a day to build it and he has proclaimed that he will never pull it apart. The details are amazing and the building consists of three level with their own function. A wonderful addition to a lego collection, and although it says that it is for 14+ I think younger die-hard lego men will manage construction. This lego piece in Australia is $499.00, so Amazon please allow delivery to Australia as even with postage this is still a great deal – and I want to order some more!
