Yes, that’s a good resource as well. I also found their pricing much higher than BL and their selection is limited, but as you mentioned for rare pieces and expensive pieces it is worth to check. An issue with Bricks and Pieces though that is good to keep in mind is that their shipping time can take weeks as they ship directly from Denmark. So if you are in the USA, Canada, Australia, etc. it can take weeks. But yes, they should definitely be a resource to at least check out for comparison shopping.
Originally released in 2014, now retired. Includes 6 minifgs: Kanan Jarrus, HeraSyndulla, Zeb Orrelios, Stormtrooper, Ezra Bridger, C1-10P (Chopper) AND EXTRA Sabine. These are the ONLY sets to featur…
The Millennium Falcon set comes in at the top of our list simply because it’s freaking awesome.  It is among the two or three most recognizable images from the entire Star Wars franchise, so it easily checks the nostalgia box.  The set is huge at 1329 pieces and takes a few hours to complete.  Inside the box you get the awesome Falcon itself, complete with the iconic holochess board, cockpit, and even spring loaded blasters.  Additionally, you get a wealth of minifigurines including Han Solo, Chewbacca, Rey, Finn, and BB-8 (you get two more, but who cares about those guys?).  The minor complaint here is that this is The Force Awakens version, so you get old Han, rather than A New Hope Han.  That’s easy enough to ignore, however, with the all-around spectacular set included here.
I’ve definitely heard of rebrick but have never used it personally. I’m not sure how it would work for me since I’m both a builder and collector and therefore have two catagories of LEGO pieces. One is strictly to stay with the sets and everything else is building material. However, it is the perfect solution for those who may not have a seperation and can get more milage out of their collection.
My daughter is big into Minecraft and Lego’s, so for Christmas I was trying to get somethings that that would fit those two niches. This set has a lot of detail, Lego did a great job as usual translating Minecraft into the Lego world, although, I think that Minecraft being an 8-bit world is a natural. Putting this set together kept my daughter busy for a good chunk of Christmas day, and as a parent anything that’s not electronic that makes her use her brain, makes me happy. This is a high quality set that any Minecraft/Lego fan will be happy to own. I highly recommend.
No, I wrote this article just a couple of days ago. I didn’t see the Dragon on the list, so I could have missed it, or items also sometimes appear and then disappear from the list. I have seen that happen many times. That’s why it’s important to regularly check. 😉
Since the company’s beginning in 1932, Lego has grown to be the world’s third largest toy manufacturer, and for good reason. No child or adult can resist creating their favorite monuments, figurines, ships, carousels, and many more! As for the Lego set collectors who love Star Wars, the Millennium Falcon set will keep your Jedi impulses at bay while you’re out in public. If you prefer Batman, then “Holy Cow!” you have to allow yourself to have a ball with the Batcave set! If you just want a good ‘ol pirate-ey time, then land your ship and drop your anchor on the Skull’s Eye Schooner set. Interestingly, the Lego name is derived from the two Danish words “Leg” and “Godt,” which means “play well,” and so you should.
The LEGO DUPLO All-In-One Box of Fun set has a whole load of DUPLO bricks for fun building and rebuilding for creative play. At its heart is a buildable wagon base with rounded edges and wheels that really turn. This comprehensive set also includes 2… more
This set comes with instructions for all three models. The pieces are bagged into several groups to make sorting easier. I find the models all to be great to play with, though I’ve left mine in the treehouse configuration. There are a nice variety of parts and building techniques to keep the builder interested throughout.
You could’ve felt the call while you were a kid, or during your mid-thirties. It doesn’t matter when you started your LEGO Star Wars collection, there’s are a number of sets that you definitely love collecting, because they’re emblematic in a sense, because they’re just beautiful to build and display, or simply because everybody has one and now you have to (sometimes it works for me).
Great article !! I am currently awaiting for a lot of Bricklink orders to to be delivered, covering the building-from-spare-parts of… 2.5 modulars ^^” Those are Cafe Corner, right-half of Market Street and Fire Brigade (I already had a lot of Dark Red bricks and tiles so it was a no-brainer !). Thus, having spent a lot of time and money in the process, I can confirm absolutely everything I just read in this article 😉 From Wanted Lists tips to problems with parts, I went through all of it, so it’s very pleasing and reassuring to know that other people have experienced that.
This is Lego’s second Creator structure for 2013. The first was #31009 which is less expensive, but probably not as much fun. The third structure is #31012 which I also like very much but it is substantially more expensive at 69.99 MSRP. I also recommend #5766 which came out in 2011, is a favorite with kids, and is still available as I write this.
LEGO Friends- City Park Cafe – Frown all you want at the pink but be aware that there are lots of special little pieces here like a cash register, money, broom, salt and pepper shaker  (awwww), forks, knives!  Check out curvy glass panels! Wow! You could rebuild this into many things!
Also, when it is a line of products people who got into the game late will want to purchase the earlier models. If you just found out about Fire Brigade and Emporium, you looked into it and found out about Cafe Corner being an earlier set in the line, you’d might really want to get one.
I got told by a member of staff in the Meadowhall Lego store when I bought Ecto 1 that most ideas sets only get a 1 year production run, ecto 1 got extended because of the GB firehouse set that came out this year, I don’t know if that’s true but it’s what I got told.
Minecraft is an online sandbox a virtual world where the essential play creative building with virtual cubes and its about learning skills and building craft tools and mining for gold and diamonds. The games is inspired by Infiniminer, Dwarf Fortress and Dungeon Keeper, created by Markus Persson, the founder of Mojang AB. The game involves players creating and destroying various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. The player takes an avatar that can destroy or create blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork across the various multiplayer servers in multiple game modes.
We are paying top dollar for sealed LEGO sets. We have a complete list of prices we are paying for sealed Star Wars LEGO sets. We are working on a more comprehensive list of prices that we are paying for other LEGO categories from the last 10 years or so, which we expect to have ready in July. For now, just send us a list at buying@brianstoys.com of the LEGO sets that you have for sale, and we will be happy to issue a price-quote within several days. For a limited time we are offering FREE shipping on your first box shipped to us by UPS, and we offer our account for discounted UPS rates on all of your other cartons shipped.
Those magazines are available for free directly from LEGO, so they don’t have much value. They sell for less than a dollar on eBay. An other problem with a collection of magazine is that they are very heavy to ship, thus expensive. You would be better off listing them on Craiglist to see if there is anyone locally who is interested, or just donate them to your local library. Kids would appreciate them. 🙂
Legos have come a long way from when I played with them as a child over 20 years ago. Another benefit of the new Lego sets is the separation of the Lego pieces in different numbered bags. The numbered bags allow you to build a portion of the set with only pieces needed for that portion related to the directions.
The pièce de résistance of the Lego Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series with a price-tag that beggars belief. Consisting of a whopping 5,195 bricks and weighing in at just over 10kg, the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy is the second-largest Lego set ever and is the jewel in the Lego Star Wars crown.

Jabba’s Palace depicts the Star Wars scene where Princess Leia attempts to infiltrate Jabba the Hutt’s palace in order to rescue Han Solo, who is imprisoned in carbonite. It’s a well-done, atmospheric set that’s fun to build, with excellent minifigs and good playability.

With such an iconic and ubiquitous series like Star Wars, there are going to be some entities which are almost too obvious as candidates for great Lego sets.  The TIE Fighter ranks up there among the most iconic ships in the Star Wars universe and it is great to see Lego produce a high quality kit from the source material.  The TIE Fighter is a large build at 1685 pieces, the final result has a huge presence due mainly to the massive wings on the ship.  It is quite cool to see Lego give the TIE a large scale build like this, it is a part of their Ultimate Collector Series.  The minor complaint here is that it only comes with one minifigurine, which makes sense given the context, but we still enjoy getting a few with our bigger set purchases.  The build will take a few hours, there is some redundancy with how massive the wings are, but the end result is fantastic so the build is ultimately incredibly rewarding.
Similar to Ebates, I Upromise.com to get a bit of a price discount. If you can’t find a sale, I’ve used lego.com via Upromise and found that a) they have really excellent customer service and b) you can build up “lego points” to get a discount on a future purchase.
I’ve been going through dozens of collections posted online by LEGO Star Wars collectors, and these following sets represent in a general sense, what you can find out there and add to your own collection.

“lego worth +lego sets 2005”

Bigger, maybe but a different question. I would imagine why they remove them entirely is because by leaving the items in and just marking them “sold out” or whatever would be confusing to non-collectors or would solicit a ton of “When will you get more X?” questions. – Nathan Stohlmann Jan 2 ’12 at 15:19
I completely understand your point Rabbit, and your right, I do like that sets hold their value, and even increase over time. Being an adult and having extra money affords me the benefit of buying more than most. As a collector though, and having no intention of ever selling, I could care less if everyone had every set. I do it to relax and enjoy, not for profit. Again, I am not knocking those that do it for profit but there are many sides to every discussion. So to sum up, for me I wouldnt mind sets being more readily available.
If this fails you can consider your own swap options. This may include using smaller pieces in the case of replacing a large brick or using a more modern window that looks very similar and will only be noticed by those who are intimate with the set. Finally, you may try changing the color. The option of changing the color is a big one. If you are considering doing it, you want to look at all the other elements in the set that share that color. For example, I had the option of using sand-blue instead of sand-green in the #10185 LEGO Modular Green Grocer. It would have definitely been cheaper in certain areas, but there were pieces made in sand-green that weren’t made in sand-blue, so it became a less attractive option. Keep in mind that a full replacement is not always necessary. A good builder can fit in color-swaps very subtly. You will ultimately need to be the judge of how complete or modified the end model needs to be.
Yay! Doesn’t that feel good when something comes together like that? Glad you live close enough to a pick-a-brick wall. It’s an hour’s drive either way for me, so I went with the brick box, but still feel better than a set.
My youngest child recently became a Lego fanatic (as am I). She was already enthralled by the Harry Potter books and movies, so the discovery that two of her favorite things were now combined (and just before Christmas, too) gave birth to a new obsession. Unfortunately, Lego stopped making Harry Potter Lego sets last year.

In addition to the rationale of logistical supply chain that people are mentioning for the discontinuation of sets, I thought I should point out that the collector’s market after a set is retired is skewing our perspective with respect to what the demand was while the set was in production.
As someone who’s just starting to get back into LEGO, this set hits all the right notes for me. Appeal to an awesome game, check. Lots of pieces not normally included in other sets, check. Modular and easy to display on my desk, check.

This set has quite a few play features, lots of minifigures, a horse and a catapult. This set is straight forward to put together; younger children shouldn’t have too much of a problem with it with a little help from older siblings or a parent. At an MSRP of $99 with the large pieces it contains, this set is a good value.
Star Wars and Lego are both global phenomenon in there own right and have separately produced some of the most sought-after memorabilia in the history of popular culture. When the superpowers met however, a holy alliance of bricks and studs was born.
That’s a great deal, I got mine from Target too, and it was $29.99….was yours an online return? Because when the someone returns an item they bought online, the price is epically reduced, even if it is pristine condition.
Ewok village is not a ucs kit. Why do people say these kits are ucs just because they are £200 If it does. It have a ucs label on the box it’s not ucs. The 10 part number association stopped in 2014. Ewok village is such a good set though.

I think you’d find that because of specilist parts that are in the UCS models, that as has been said before, require special molds, it wouldn’t be worth carrying on production. They need to modernise after all. So if something’s new then sacrifice something old for it surely ? 🙂

I haven’t tried it myself yet, since my daughter is a little young for Legos, but I’ve heard great things about Pley. It’s a monthly Lego and Duplo rental service, kind of like Netflix for Legos. It could be a great way to try some of the cool sets before you spend lots of money on them, since we all know that just because it’s expensive doesn’t mean it will hold your child’s interest. It could also cut down on clutter, since you get to use lots of new sets without having to store the old ones.
Protect the King and his people from the Dragon soldiers at the King’s Castle! Stop the Dragon soldiers before they use the deadly battering ram and catapult weapon. What can i say my daughter loves minecraft. its a hit with the kids. this little play-set is awesome my daughter loves having it set up in her room. the quality is great and it looks really cool when assembled. lego has never failed on quality and they dident stop here its made great like any lego set has been made. just a word of caution it does have small pieces. so would not recomend for really young kids. buy its an amazing lego set to go for minecraft. great job lego.
A model like this a great presentation. My first build was done inside a BiOrb (aquarium) and it was a challenge, but turned out really cool. The second build was displayed inside a terrarium from Exo-terra. The terrarium worked out much better. It has doors for easy access and interaction, and has space for the most important thing… A display turntable. Get one that can support about 7-10kg and has an AC adapter.
Lego’s priciest advanced models are highly valued collector’s items. The most expensive retired Lego sets can fetch up to five figures. Among the most expensive include sets themed after Star Wars and major world landmarks like the Taj Mahal.

Rare part design is typically specialized pieces. Minifigures are the biggest rare part design in most sets due to unique prints. Other candidates are special doors/windows, animals, hoses and printed elements. At least these are the parts that have been rare for me and didn’t have in my collection. You should have a general knowledge of what is in your own spare parts collection, and also look for things that appear to be unique to the set.

Let the pieces air dry. Lay the pieces out on a towel on their sides or base so water can drain. Keep in a ventilated room to speed up the drying, but keep them away from heat. They may take one or two days to fully dry, depending on humidity.
The drum tower to the side of the gate house has a catapult on top. Unlike previous catapults, this one is fixed facing forward. It also contains a spring, a soft pole that is deformed when the catapult is pressed down. It is much easier to operate than the standard swivel catapults included in previous sets, especially since you don’t risk breaking the structure when firing.
Finally, at the risk of sounding like a shill for Lego, the Creator section of the Lego website has a nice collection of short videos that feature their own designers explaining advanced building techniques. These videos mesh nicely with this set.
Read Carefully- They will likely write that in the description -“this is a picture of a random sampling”.  Also be aware that you may not be getting “only” LEGOs.  If you don’t want to see Mega Blocks in the bag, read carefully.
Of the four current “UCS” sets, I prefer the Slave and the TIE. I think of the other two as “play sets” and they just don’t look as cool. Of course, the higher price points of Hoth and the DS might make them rarer and better investments. However, given this is the 3rd (?) large DS model, I’m wondering if it will be all that sought after in retirement. What do you guys think?
Yeah, I really didn’t have a good head for Katniss. (Deep breath.) I had to use Wyldstyle’s, (facepalm), the MMV female head didn’t look quite right. Maybe that would have been better. For Peeta, I’m not sure if I should choose Luke Skywalker’s, (the original Luke Skywalker head,) or that Determined face from the Hoth Rebel Trooper Battle Pack that came out whatever many years ago. (The one on one of the troopers.) Haymith was Indiana Jones face and Thors hair, but in the darker tan. Effie was Elsa Schneider, with the Lone Ranger fancy gal red hair piece. And Snow was the original trilogy Obi-wan head, with Balin’s hair. And I went into too much detail…
Lego clearly wants to keep the history going as the Star Wars theme is consistently among the upper echelon of Lego themes in terms of the most sets coming out in a year. Part of this is due to the recent and planned theatrical releases of The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and The Last Jedi and, naturally, they still frequently draw from the first six movies in the franchise. Lego doesn’t stop there, however, as the animated shows Freemaker Adventures, Rebels, and Clone Wars all have sets that are not retired as of 2017. Eight movies and three television shows, that’s a lot of source material to choose from. What made it into our top ten list? Find out below.

At this point, you’ll want to each one to make sure the shipping charges are not inflated.  If they are, then delete the lot from your page.  I usually estimate the shipping by the pounds of the Legos being sold.  If you’re looking at a 100 lb. lot, then the shipping should not be $200.  It should be closer to $100.  If it’s 20 lbs., the shipping will be somewhere in the ballpark of $20.  If the seller has listed the shipping at $50 for 20 lbs., then more than likely, they’ve inflated their prices.  When you are finished, you’ll have narrowed down your search to reputable sellers who are fair and honorable.

To be honest, I don’t really pay attention to the “Retiring Soon” label. With the Chima example, LEGO LEGO Shop at Home hasn’t made be trust the tag. Sure, it could be a sign of retirement, but if LEGO Shop at Home goes around and changes it on us, it makes me think that it isn’t reliable.

Great article!  I LOVE all these Star Wars Lego sets.  (Small correction:  #2 on your list is 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer, but the image is of the even more awesome 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer with 3096 pieces).  Also, for me personally, I’d replace #12 AT-AT Walker with the 10178 Motorized AT-AT that walks around my kitchen and bumps into things.  🙂
Here is a REALLY FUN GIVEAWAY!!!  The Winner Can Choose Anyone of the Following LEGO products!  (please note that one may not be available when the giveaway is over based on supply availability- but I think we’ll be okay)
Design: This set uses a modular design. If you follow the instructions, you get eight distinct modules, four above ground and four below ground. You can arrange these in dozens of different ways to create tiny cave networks and a multi-layered effect. The caves have several different kinds of hidden resources that you can only see when you take the top layer off. The overall effect of the design is a pretty good representation of the Minecraft world.

Stir the pieces around once an hour. Stirring the small pieces around with a stick or gloved hand will dislodge the bubbles causing them to float. Try this every hour or so for best results. If you leave pieces floating too long, they can develop a cloudy white marking along the water line.[6]
Then there’s the method where you build the set from your own spare LEGO elements that you may or may not need to substitute with buying individual parts, based on the size of your current collection. This last method of piecing together retired LEGO sets instead of buying them as a whole, can work out as more economical in situations where the price of the retired set has skyrocketed. Some people also enjoy having a long-term project reconstructing an old LEGO set. Whatever the reason, I’d like to discuss some of the tips and issues I’ve had with this way of collecting. Perhaps my example can save you a headache or two.
Keep an eye on the market. If people go crazy about a new Star Wars release and you bought a few at retail price, you could be sitting on a quick flip. “Once all the people go out there and clear the shelves of every Walmart, Target, Amazon, whatever, then you just watch the value on eBay climb, climb, climb,” Maciorowski says. Say you bought a $99.99 set on sale for $75, and Lego retired the set one year later, and it’s going for $400 on eBay. After your fees, that’s a really solid return on investment—one that any brick investor should be thrilled with. But Maciorowski, who estimates his Lego collection is “six figures easily,” is playing the long game—he hasn’t sold a set yet. “The way we look at it,” he says. “It’s almost a 401(k) plan of a different stature.”
Let’s face it, LEGO makes a lot of sets, and LEGO is expensive. LEGO also retires sets after a period of time. All of this means that we may not be able to afford everything we want when available, and by the time we are ready to buy, the set of our dreams could be out of production. Or you may learn about an old set just now, but it has been retired years ago. So what to do? This is what we will explore today. 🙂

This is a great Lego gift for Minecraft fans, though once assembled, it doesn’t have any moving parts (as most of the Lego City sets do, for example). It wasn’t too difficult to put together, but my 6-year-old, who has built many larger Lego sets, got bored with building it after not very long. It’s composed of lots and lots of tiny pieces, and for kids, anyway, I think the constructing of it is a bit tedious. I finished it for him – I actually enjoyed the tedium – and it sits on a shelf in a place of pride, but doesn’t get played with much because like I said, it doesn’t do anything. I would recommend for older fans of both Minecraft and Legos (maybe 8+?), but not for fans of only one or the other.
I think the bigger question is why does shop.lego.com remove products from it’s index instead of just saying they are not sold anymore. Links at say, technic.lego.com will link to products on shop.lego.com that are not there anymore. – tooshel Jan 1 ’12 at 18:20
OMFGWAT? US$ 6400 for that set on Amazon? What is it made of? Carbonite? Well… apparently I’m not the only one that came up with this idea of building one of the MOST AWESOMEST FREIGHT CARGO SHIPS EVER, that happens to be discontinued. But there’s no way I’m going to pay that.

Below is a list of LEGO sets that are at risk of retiring soon in and around the 2018 calendar year. It is organized into sets that are at a high risk of retiring soon, medium risk, and low risk. Note that LEGO retirement dates are not an exact science and all sets that have been available for sufficiently long can be discontinued at any time, with no notice. With no new film in 2003, the number of sets released was reduced to 20 of which 8 were MINI sets (in plastic boxes) featuring iconic Star Wars vehicles from the five films released to date.  Four of these sets came as two packs featuring matched pairs of vehicles such as X-wing Fighter & Tie Advanced (#4484), Sebulba’s Podracer & Anakin’s Podracer (#4485), AT-ST & Snowspeeder (#4486) and Jedi Starfighter & Slave I (#4487) — each one of these sets included extra pieces to create a TIE Bomber. The other four Mini sets featured larger vehicles such as the Millennium Falcon (#4488) and AT-AT (#4489). 2003 also saw the release of the largest minifigure to date — Jabba the Hutt — as part of the Jabba’s Palace set (#4480) and also the first large scale AT-AT (#4483). Two USC were also released during the year, the Rebel Snowspeeder (#10129) and the elusive Cloud City set (#10123), the latter of which includes a uniquely printed Boba Fett minifigure which is very hard to find (and one of the few sets I still don’t own).
Welp, time to bite the bullet on the Ewok Village. Both it and the Sandcrawler are 12% off on Amazon. The Sandcrawler is still a better buy (over 3000 pieces vs. the Ewok Village’s not-even-2000), but the Village seems to be more playable. Honestly, I’m a little surprised the Ewok Village was still around–didn’t it come out in 2013?
No, this is not a cop-out, especially when your Lego lover wants a $350 Ghostbuster set. Just saying! Instead make a contribution toward that maniac’s saving fund. You can gift it in a cute Lego money holder to keep with the theme.
While not as big as the 10179 Millennium Falcon, this Episode III one is still a great addition for any collector. With 985 pieces, if you get your hands on one, you’ve got a very rare set since it’s now retired and hard to find!
However, many of the sellers are overseas, so the shipping and exchange rates can kill any price savings versus eBay. For comparison terms, I’ve seen a popular set like The Burrow go for up to $250 on eBay and around $110 on Bricklink. You can filter your Bricklink search by country, which helps to find the best combination of price and shipping costs. [Note: prices may have changed since this blog was posted.]
This looks to be a complete Geonosian Fighter but not 100% sure. I have included the manual for this set. You will get what you see in the photos. The manual shows a ray gun and that is not included h…
The Holiday 2017 LEGO catalog has started to reach home mailboxes and there are many set that are listed as “Last Chance!” meaning that they will be probably retiring at the end of the year or shortly after. These are in addition to the LEGO Creator Palace Cinema (10232) which LEGO posted about before on social media a few weeks ago.
This kind of project is definitely take a lot of resources, both on time and money, but isn’t that what hobbies are for? I already started ordering a couple hundred euros on the first pieces, and I’ll keep on this until I completed it. I’ll keep you posted.
At the International Toy Fair in New York in February 1999, LEGO and Lucasfilm announced LEGO Star Wars to the invited press. Originally licensed until 2008, it has been extended several times — until 2011, then 2016, and in 2012 the license was extended until 2022.

For three years, my son has been asking for this Lego Set. My thought always was that it was way to expensive but I finally broke down this year after watching the price increase over the years. On Christmas morning, my son opened all of his presents and kept looking at the last box that was under the tree. It wasn’t big enough to be the Death Star that he wanted but I wouldn’t let him open it as “it was for later”.

“lego sets 2012 -taj mahal lego set”

There are some other odds and ends, but these are pretty much the largest and most interesting sets that are getting retired and are now on sale. Please note that sale items usually move very quickly, so if you want to grab them before they are gone, I would suggest you do so by the end of the week. It is also a good idea to check the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop at least once a month to see if anything new is added.
However, what really bugs me are these sets. That is why it can be challenged as an educational toy because I’ve seen kids just build and not build some more. While I admire the themes and are just as wowed as you are when your child builds a complex set, I can’t help but think that we are not getting as much as we should be getting from LEGO.  I really wish it was more about the plain bricks. Did you happen to see Fat Brain Toys blog post showing nostalgic LEGO ads. I loved it!
This is one drawback of being the second child. You never have time to become gradually familiar with a building toy. There aren’t even enough simple bricks after you start buying set after set.  Instead you inherit of big mass from big brother and if you didn’t pick up the “LEGO language” quickly, well, then you need a translator!
Dry the bricks. Optionally, spin the bricks in a salad spinner to remove some of the water. Next, place the wet bricks in a single on a towel, right-side up so water drains from the underside. To speed up the drying process, leave a fan on blowing over the bricks.
The golden jewel of any Star Wars collection. There isn’t many people that can proudly say they own this 5200+ pieces set. Mostly because it’s been discontinued for years now, but also because it’s resale price can very well go beyond US $3000.
Yes thats actually what happened to me, I recovered an old catalog from 2007, flipped through it, and found the Cafe Corner. My eyes widened as I drooled over the set (its price was listed as $130.) I couldnt find it on legoshop.com, so I looked on eBay and found one for $1040. I was then really disappointed, because I could never afford it at that price…
You can search online for replacement guides for the most expensive sets, and you’re always going to find great tips. For example, most of the internal parts of the Millennium Falcon were some technic yellow parts, that were also created for other much common sets at the time. But now, those sets are scarce, so those yellow pieces (that you’ll never see) are pricey as hell. You can replace them by the same piece, but in another color, and you’ll save literally 150 dollars, in only 16 pieces.

From her crown to her torch, The Statue of Liberty is an iconic monument and symbol of freedom from tyranny, financial hardship, and suffering for many immigrants since the late 1800’s. She was given to the United States by France on October 28, 1886 as a gift for the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence.
One of the advantages of sets is that there are specific instructions as to how to assemble the pieces. If a kid is really stumped as to what to build, he or she can turn to the growing number of Lego books that are available.

“lego bank review -lego set numbers cheap”

I completely understand your point Rabbit, and your right, I do like that sets hold their value, and even increase over time. Being an adult and having extra money affords me the benefit of buying more than most. As a collector though, and having no intention of ever selling, I could care less if everyone had every set. I do it to relax and enjoy, not for profit. Again, I am not knocking those that do it for profit but there are many sides to every discussion. So to sum up, for me I wouldnt mind sets being more readily available.
I have all the sets except Market Street. I also have an extra Green Grocer MISB. I am so fortunate that I bought the Cafe Corner when I did. It had already been discontinued when I purchased it at the LEGO store. A fluke. My advice to all of you that don’t have the Cafe Corner or an unlimited income…. Move on with your Lego life. The Green Grocer is still somewhat attainable. Every time you look over at the Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, and now the Pet Shop you will be reminded of what could have been.

The Parisian Restaurant (set # 10243) is absolutely fabulous. It contains three levels that are each distinct and include a lot of fun and creative details. The kitchen, for instance, includes everything a world-class chef might want and the art studio is perfect for a budding Picasso complete with easel, paints and several finished canvases – your Lego town may just need to open a gallery to showcase the work! The architecture on the exterior is top notch as well. I especially like the stone in the chimney and all of the flowers and greenery are an added touch. It truly makes me want to visit this restaurant for an afternoon snack or elegant outside evening dining. Personally, I found this one the most fun to build!

The Green Grocer (set # 10185) was the third release in the modular series and has since been retired. It was the first to be furnished and Lego did an exceptional job at that. The lower level of the shop contains a complete wall fridge in addition to produce stands, cash register, etc. which collectors have just loved. The interior details are almost as good as the exterior elements such as the bay window on the second and third floors and the striped awning over the produce stand.

It is to single out one LEGO set from the rest because the manufactured quality, effort, imagination and creativity are recognized in every single set, with no difference. In my opinion you cannot make a mistake, whichever you choose. I started bying LEGO sets long time ago and still, after all these years, I see that they preserved all the trademarks of their products and plus added some improvements over time. A job well done!
If you’ve a pocket full of change, you might want to empty it out, as you could be in for some very good news. That’s according to the money experts at ChangeChecker, who have revealed a fascinating Scarcity Index, detailing the 37 ‘rare’ £2 coins that are set to be worth a mint one day – and many of them are still in circulation.

“lego kingdoms discontinued biggest lego set in the world”

We chose this for our 6 yr old daughter after being disappointed with the Lego Friends sets, which did not seem to involve as much building. This was a great set for her, and we love the 30 in 1 aspect.
Thanks to Sharon’s advice, years ago I bought the girls a large pink brick box on Christmas sale. The brick box contains starter pieces for building that can be combined in a number of ways. It doesn’t lock the child into building one particular thing, like the Shelob Attacks set that one of them had requested.
We can almost hear the imperial march playing when we see this incredible ship. The Star Destroyer UCS is Lego’s first set to contain over 3,000 pieces and at three feet long, this build is designed to make you feel as helpless as the tiny in scale Blockade Runner it comes with. This was the treatment Lord Vader’s personal flagship deserved. Dangerous and disturbing, this set is fit for the dark side of your collection. Originally released in 2002 for $299.99, the retired set goes for over $2,500.
Lego Stars Wars Imperial Assault Hovertank Retiring Soon The Star Wars Imperial Assault Hovertank is featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the main character in this scene is Chirrut. Things slowed down for 2001. In 2000 we got 19 sets, but in 2001 only 10 were released, two of which came from the Technic line, C-3PO (#8007) and Stromtrooper (#8008), and two USC sets, Darth Maul (#10018) and the Rebel Blockade Runner (#10019). Darth Maul, with 1,868 parts, was now the largest LEGO Star Wars set to have been released.

The LEGO is an impressive pirate ship from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Other features include a long bowsprit with crow’s nest and mast, tattered sails, detailed quarterdeck, plus a rowboat with two oars. The famous Imperial Star Destroyer is by far an incredible vehicle and the Lego version is no different! It features 1367 pieces and a ton of minifigures like Darth Vader, Grand Moff Tarkin, Imperial Officer, two Stormtroopers, two Emperor’s Royal Guards, Imperial Astromech Droid, and Mouse Droid.
